Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for Planet of Lana. This guide covers both the story and all shrine locations in the game.

Secrets in the Dark

Go right and climb up the ledge, then go right again until you encounter a black plant that glows brightly when Mui steps on it. Have Mui stop on the light-plant. Go right and jump across the chasm.

Continue right, up the next two platforms and then you’ll find another glowing plant. Have Mui follow you, so that they reach you, and then have Mui stop on top of the second light-plant.

Here, go back a little to find a rope that you couldn’t see before. Jump onto this rope and climb all the way up to find the fourth shrine. Go back down the rope and return to Mui’s position.

Continue right and cross the chasm, until you get to the next light-plant. Once again, have Mui follow you and then stop on top of the third light-plant.

Now go right until you encounter a plant that’s behind a tunnel only Mui can cross. When you reach this tunnel, have Mui follow you, and then send Mui through the tunnel, to the next light-plant.

Climb the rope to the left of your location and go right. Once you’re clear of the top platform, have Mui follow you again.

Cross the next set of platforms to reach an area with an actual, biological spider monster.

The spider monster is scared of light, so what we want to do is trap the monster on the left side of the screen, and have Lana and Mui escape from the right side of the screen.

Begin by going right from where the rope is and directing Mui to go to the burrow on the right side of the screen. Don’t enter the burrow just yet.

Have Lana go left and grab the rope, then slide down very slowly. As soon as the spider notices you, go back up the rope immediately and have Mui cross the burrow at the same time. If you time it right, the spider will be on the left side of the light-plant, and Lana will still be alive.

Now have Lana go down to the floor to the right of the light-plant. Run right and climb the next two platforms, one to the right and the next one to the left.

Pull the boards off of the area where Mui is, and then have Mui follow you again. Run right and climb the upper platform.

Send Mui up to the third platform and have them drop the rope, so that you can climb up and go right. Remember to have Mui follow you as you go.

Go under a tunnel and cross the wide chasm to reach a wall that you can’t go through. Here, notice that there are yellow ropes coiled above a far above you. Send Mui up to those yellow ropes.Have Mui interact with a hole there to open up a door and cross through.

As you progress right up and down platforms, you will light up a series of plants that reveal images on the wall. They’ll inform you about the lore, but they’re not relevant to the gameplay until you encounter the final one.

Here, pay attention to the two diagrams on the top-left and bottom-right, which depict an arrangement of dots and lines.

Continue right from here to encounter a giant musical machine.

This machine has four golden controls that you need to place at their appropriate points, and then pull the rope on the right side of the screen. You already know where to place two of the controls: the top-right control is placed after three dots, and the bottom-right control is placed after two dots.

For the location of one more control, climb up the platform to the left of the screen, near where you came from. Continue left to find a light-plant that you can have Mui stop on, and then run right, back to the musical machine. You’ll find the instructions for the third control illuminated to the top-left of the screen.

As seen on this instruction, you need to put the bottom-left control as far left as it can go, that is, after zero dots.

On the bottom floor of the musical machine, you’ll find a cart with wooden logs on it. Drag this cart to the far left to find the instruction for the final, top-left control. As you might have guessed, this control comes after one dot.

You can see the final arrangement of the controls in the screenshot below. Make sure all the controls are aligned as seen here, and then jump right from the middle floor of the musical machine to reach the rope. Stay on the rope as it is pulled down and wait for the musical sequence to complete.

Once the door opens, have Mui follow you again and go through the opened door. Interact with the object in the middle of the next room to unlock a new ability.

Now go right and follow the instructions to have Mui connect with the black plant. Have Mui drag the plant left, which will cause the plant to open up and grant Lana and Mui access to the right.

Jump across the chasm and send Mui to the right of the tunnel, onto the light-plant. Go left and drop down from the ledge, then climb the platform. Go right from here and once you’re clear of the second chasm, have Mui follow you again.

In the new area you find yourself in, climb the series of ledges to the left of the screen and then jump right to find a giant, snake-like creature. Have Mui connect with this creature’s white eye, and then have Mui drag the creature right, so that it blocks off the light shaft.

Now have Mui follow you and go down the ledges. The second snake-creature’s eye has opened now that it is no longer exposed to the sunlight. Have Mui connect with the lower snake-creature and drag the creature to the left, so that it’s fatter middle portion is exposed. Have Lana jump on the snake-creature and onto the fat middle portion, then climb up the ledge that you can now access.

Have Mui connect with the lower snake-creature again (if you disconnected), and then drag the snake-creature to the right, which actually brings the tail of the creature closer to Lana.

Jump on the snake-creatures tail, go right, and jump up the ledge while having Mui follow you again.

Continue right down the slope, into the open area to progress to the next level – The Highlands.
