Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for Planet of Lana. This guide covers both the story and all shrine locations in the game.

The End of the Road

Keep running right until you encounter an area with a scanner robot.

Here, wait under the platform with the yellow handles, taking care to shift a bit you’re in danger of being spotted. When the scanner robot goes to the left, quickly jump up onto the platform and jump to the platform to the right.

Continue going right through a tunnel to find a magnet. Crawl through the tunnel to its right, where you’ll find a box. Drag the box to the right, so that it’s in the open and not under a platform.

Interact with the control panel to the far right to control the magnet. Use the magnet to grab the box that you just dragged, and take to the left of the platforms.

Position the box so that you will be able to climb onto the box and then onto the platform. Then, move the magnet so that it’s roughly between the middle platform and the far right platform. This way, you will be able to jump onto the magnet and then to the right platform.

Let go of the control panel once you’ve positioned the box and the magnet correctly. Proceed up the box, onto the middle platform, onto the magnet, then the right platform, and continue right.

As soon as you drop down this platform, hide in the grass. Wait for the scanner robot to start going right and follow it. Make sure you hide under the ledge with the yellow handles.

When the scanner robot goes left, climb the ledge and go right. 

Go up the next ledge and crawl through the tunnel to find a spider robot patrolling the area. Wait for the spider robot to go left, and then as it goes right, follow the spider robot to the right. Run straight into the next tunnel.

Go to the far right through the next tunnel and climb up to the landing pad. Climb onto the transport shuttle and run to the left as far as you can go.

You will trigger a cutscene when you go far enough left. Note that simply hiding under the crates does not work, you have to go as far left, towards the center of the shuttle as you can.

Once the cutscene ends, run right and jump carefully onto the metal pillar. Jump right again and go through the tunnel to find an area with a spider robot.

Wait for the spider robot to look right, then run right, so that you’re under the spider robot’s platform.

Once the spider robot looks left, run right and drag the cage there to the left, so that you will be able to climb onto the cage and then onto the platform with the spider robot.

If you’ve dragged the cage far enough to the left, you will be able to climb onto it and stay safe from the spider robot’s field of vision. Climb onto the cage and wait for the robot to look left. Then, climb the platform and quickly shift the switch to the left.

Immediately drop down as soon as you’ve shifted the switch to the left, so that you’re safe from the robot’s gaze again. Once more, wait for the robot to look left, and then make a run for the tunnel to the right.

Now keep going right in this tunnel for a cutscene.

After the cutscene, continue right, into the next tunnel and you’ll get to an area with another spider robot. There’s also a scanner robot up top. Note that you’re safe in the tunnel, even if the spider robot is looking your way.

Wait for the spider robot to start going right, then follow it to the right and jump onto the platform with the yellow handles. Go further right, onto the next platform.

Next, we have to deal with the scanner robot. Wait in the tunnel for the scanner robot to go left, then quickly climb onto the platform above you and then jump right. On the platform to the right, get into the tunnel instead of going up.

Wait for the scanner robot to go left, and then climb the platform above you. Go right now until you encounter another cutscene.

In this next area, we have a scanner robot patrolling at the bottom of the screen, and Mui is trapped in a cage in the middle bubble. We need to move another object into the bubble, so that Mui’s cage is pushed out to the right.

Start by dropping down to the lowermost floor and run left to operate the control panel.

This control panel controls a magnet at the top of the screen. Bring it down and have it grab the scanner robot. Move the magnet all the way up and into the ‘entry’ tray of the big machine that has Mui trapped in it.

With the magnet bearing the scanner robot down in the tray, let go of the scanner robot and start running to the right. The scanner robot will eventually break free, but by then, you’ll have made your way out of its patrol range.

Get to the control panel to the far right to control the scanner robot. Have the scanner robot knock the empty cage off its platform by ramming into it from either the left or the right. This is tricky and might take a while to do.

Once the cage is on the ground, let go of the control panel and drag the cage to the far left, within range of the magnet’s movement area.

Use the control panel on the left and grab the box, then deposit it in the entry tray of the big machine.

Once the cage is in and Mui’s cage is coming out, return to the control panel on the far right to take control of the scanner robot again.

As before, ram the robot into the cage with Mui in it, and drop the cage to the floor.

Now put Mui, who is freshly out of danger, into more danger by directing them to sit on top of the scanner robot. Return to the control panel on the right to control the scanner robot and take it all the way up to find a button. This button is located roughly above the platform Mui’s cage was on previously.

Press the button as Mui while the robot hovers there, and then go right and up, through the electrification field you just disabled.

Be careful of the electrified floors and fields, and go left to the next button. Press it to disable some of the electrification. Go right through the disabled field and proceed up to disable some of the floors, and then right at the crossroads to disable some more.

Go down at the crossroads and then left to find the button to disable the field that’s keeping Lana separated from Mui. Let go of the control panel.

As Lana, climb the ledge above you and go right, over the disabled electricity fields, until you find a vent cover with yellow handles. Drag the cover away and crawl in, making sure that Mui’s following you.

Go as far right as you can to find a stream of water (?) falling down. Send Mui through the small tunnel here. Then, go back to the yellow handles on ledge and hang down from them. Drop down to catch the yellow handles below.

Jump onto the ledge to the left and climb up. Run right and jump onto the platform with the yellow handles, then go right again with a jump.

Once you’re to the right on the blue-lit floor, have Mui follow you again.

After this, you’ll be running right for a good long while. Keep going, through one cutscene, then right, then another cutscene.

After this one, run right and drop down into the chasm. After sliding down, go right and follow the yellow handles and yellow markings, which will guide you away from the spider and scanner robots on your tail.

Proceed through the closing door to be clear of the robots.

After this, you’ll find yourself in the dark. Run to the far right until you reach a dead end. Have Mui go onto the upper platform and interact with the yellow button there.

This opens up access to the lower button, but it also starts a boss fight. Hide in the area with the button to get a sense of it.

The giant electric ball will release an attack periodically, which will kill Lana instantly if she is exposed to it. To survive, Lana must hide under the ‘covers’ which can be enabled or disabled using the button to the far right.

Assign Mui to this button and wait for the ball to attack. Then, run right, having Mui open the covers and jump onto the platform below. Quickly have Mui press the button to shield Lana from the electric ball.

Follow this same procedure to move Lana to the left, and then once more to move Lana to the button on the far left. Have Lana press this button to bring up a console in the center of the boss room.

Now once again, wait for the boss to attack, then run right and close the cover once Lana is on the first platform from the left. Run right again when the coast is clear.

As soon as Lana gets to the console in the center, the next sequence will play. Here, you have to press the right quick-time event buttons to defeat the boss.

After you’ve pressed and mashed the buttons correctly, a long cutscene will play that concludes this chapter.

Tailo Village (Epilogue)

This chapter is similar to the first one. Go left, jumping, climbing, and crouching as appropriate, until you find the familiar cart with the logs on it. Drag it to the far left, then climb on it and jump onto the ledge to the left.

Then continue going left until a cutscene plays. This cutscene concludes both this chapter and the game itself.
