Regions Of Ruin: Runegate Walkthrough – Part 2

Regions of Ruin Runegate featured imagge

Regions of Ruin: Runegate is a hack-and-slash RPG full of adventure. Your goal in this game is to rebuild civilization for your people, and you can do that by defeating goblins and other monsters while collecting resources from different areas and regions. For more information about the game, you can check out its Steam page for additional details and updates.

Part 1 of the complete walkthrough of Regions of Ruin: Runegate is already available, so if you have just started playing the game, it is recommended that you read that first before continuing further. In this guide, I will provide Part 2 of the complete walkthrough, featuring many quests, including how to find the Runeaway Key in Regions of Ruin: Runegate.

Regions of Ruin: Runegate Walkthrough – Head Inside The Library

Library Regions of Ruin: Runegate
After talking to the old, talk to Calostos to start the Find The Runeaway Key quest in Regions of Ruin: Runegate.

Now that you have built the library, it is time to head inside and explore it properly. As you go up, you will meet an old dwarf named Bazguramundok, which is quite an unusual name. Talk to him, and the Echoes of the Past quest will be updated. You can go further up as well and explore a bit more, but for now, head back out and talk to Calostos.

Tell him about the strange old man you just met inside the library. Then continue the conversation, and the quest Echoes of the Past will be completed. While talking to him, a new quest called Find the Runeway Key will begin. After that, head to the storehouse and manage your workers so you can continue progressing efficiently.

Build A Bridge And Expand Your Settlement

Now that you have access to stone, you should build the bridge as your next step. Talk to Eira, and a quest will begin that requires you to construct the bridge using your available resources. Build it using 50 stone, which should be manageable at this point. Once it is completed, talk to Eira again, and the quest will be finished. After that, head to Osman and speak with him to start another new quest and continue expanding your settlement.

You should talk to all of the NPCs in the area to start new quests and complete some of the previous ones that you may have already progressed through. You may have already completed many objectives, but some quests require you to return and speak to the NPC who originally gave them and receive the rewards. This does not apply to every quest, but it does happen in several cases throughout the game.

Head Back To Otam

Regions of Ruin: Runegate Walkthrough – Talking to Jari

Now that you are back in Otam, you should have already cleared the Rockmanor area by this point in the game. If not, simply head to Rockwarden Jari and inform him about the missing scout so that you can complete that requirement. Just reporting this will complete the objective and clear the area for you. Also, talk to Whitebeard Andvarri to complete the Rockmanor’s Problem quest and wrap up any remaining tasks there.

At this point, it is a good idea to explore some additional areas and complete side objectives before focusing fully on the Find the Runeway Key quest, as this will help you level up and gather more resources for upcoming challenges.

Head To The Blacksmith’s Hideaway

blacksmith Regions of Ruin: Runegate

After talking to Osman, you will receive the A Hand for the Hammer quest, which involves finding the rumored blacksmith. The location of that area will also be revealed, and it will be to the left of the runestone. So travel there and then head to the right. You will then find a person named Brom.

Talk to him, and you will be given three dialogue options to choose from. Select the first option to update the quest and then choose the third option to repair your armor. He will not join your settlement if you select the second option, so you do not need to pick that one.

Solve The Puzzle In The Blacksmith’s Hideaway

Regions of Ruin Runegate: Walkthrough – Rune puzzle.

After talking to him, loot the area, and note that there will be a jug of beer, so make sure to drink it. After that, head to the right, collect the stone, break the box, and then go up the stairs. Now this is another puzzle that you need to complete. Activate all four symbols that are on the pillars, and for the last symbol, jump to the platform on the left.

Then activate the final symbol, and the puzzle will be solved. Also, make sure to activate the symbols in order. The pillar on the left side has an order from top to bottom. Activate the symbols in that order to complete the puzzle.

Head Back To Brom

Now that you have solved the puzzle, head back to Brom and talk to him. Select the first option and continue the conversation. That will complete the A Hand for the Hammer quest.

Note: Now that you have Brom as your blacksmith, make sure to repair the blacksmithy for him. Head to the right and then go down to find him in the base. Talk to him, and he will give you a quest, and then repair the blacksmithy. After that, talk to Brom to complete the quest. Then, talk to him again to start the Where Fire and Ore Meet quest.

Head To The Mineral Caves

mineral caves Regions of Ruin: Runegate
Regions of Ruin Runegate: Walkthrough – Mineral Caves.

This location is just ahead of the Blacksmith’s Hideaway, but a little to the left. Head forward and then go right. There is going to be a lot of stone in this area, so loot everything, and as you go further ahead, you will see some people. They are having a dispute, so help them out.

Mining Rights

Talk to the ones on the left and ask them to let the other party stay. Then select the option “What if I help you out?” Continue the conversation, and then the warrior will tell you that they are short on iron and steel. Now you need to speak to the other party.

Talk to them and then select the second option, and then select the first option. They will give you 50 metal, so head to the warriors and talk to them. Select the first option and then head to the other party. Talk to them, and when you are done, talk to the warriors again. Select the first option, and the Mining Rights quest will be over.

Head To The Overrun Cave

overrun cave Regions of Ruin: Runegate
Regions of Ruin Runegate: Walkthrough – Overrun Cave.

This cave is located north of the mineral caves, so now head there. As you reach there, there will be a person named Clip Lucky Shot. Talk to him and select the first option twice. You will then get a quest called Clips Murgling Job.

Clips Murgling Job

Right next to Clips with the jug, drink the beer, and then head right. There are going to be a lot of small red monsters here, so get ready for a fight. Equip your shield and hammer and block all of the spears they throw at you, and then attack. There are also going to be some annoying magic users, and they will keep running, so save them for last.

If Clips or your companion drops in the fight, make sure to hold E near them so they can get up again. Once the fight is over, loot the area, and the Clips Murgling Job will be completed. Then Clips will run back to his old spot.

Head Back To Clips

clips Regions of Ruin: Runegate

After looting everything, it is time to head back to Clips and talk to him. Ask him to join your party, and if you want him by your side, paying 500 gold should be fine. After paying him, you will get a new companion.

Head To The Isolated Farm

This farm can be found in the area to the right of the runegate. It will be on the far right side, so move over to it and then travel there. Once you arrive at the Isolated Farm, head to the right, and there will be a jug of beer. Drink it and then talk to the NPC named Ferris. Upon speaking with him, you will start a new quest called Ferris’ Farm Pests.

Ferris’ Farm Pests

To continue this quest, head left from Ferris and then interact with the logs. Take a closer look, and this should update the quest. The location of the Cave of Mischief will then be revealed, so you now need to head there. However, before leaving, make sure to loot everything in the Isolated Farm.

Head To The Cave Of Mischief

Cave of Mischief Regions of Ruin: Runegate

Once you are done looting, travel to the Cave of Mischief. It will be located to the north of the farm. As you arrive, head to the right while looting, and you will encounter some monsters. Be careful, as they will be throwing spears at you. Using a hammer along with a shield is one of the best ways to deal with them.

Make sure to block their attacks, and you may need to hold the block button for a while. Once they stop throwing spears, you can move in and attack them. After defeating them, continue forward, and you will see a golden light coming out of the ground. Those are the Ferris’ belongings, but you can’t take them.

Head Back To Ferris After Defeating The Monsters

As you move further ahead, more enemies will come out of the tents, so stay alert and defeat them as well. After defeating them, the area will be cleared, so loot everything and then return to Ferris to complete the Ferris’ Farm Pests quest. With that, you will clear this area, so make sure to heal before continuing your journey.

Use the recall ability to head back to the base and then ask Eira to heal you.

Head To The Slaver Campground

slaver campground Regions of Ruin: Runegate
Regions of Ruin Runegate: Walkthrough – Slaver Campground

The Slaver Campground can be found on the right side of Rockmanor. In this area, on the southern side, you will find this place, so head there and then talk to Harek, as he has enslaved some of your kin.

Now you can either pay him to free your kin, or you can start a fight. He will demand 1000 gold coins, so it is better to fight them here instead of paying. Take care of the archers first, and then fight the other two enemies. It should be an easy victory, so defeat them and then free your kin. After that, make sure to loot the entire area thoroughly.

Find The Runeaway Key In Regions Of Ruin: Runegate

Now that we have completed some other quests, you should be around level 10. This level should be enough, so let’s find the Runeaway Key now in the Regions of Ruin: Runegate. For that, head to Limia Village first. The location has already been revealed, so discover the area and travel to the village.

Then go ahead and talk to the chief of the village. Select the second option, continue the conversation, and then new locations called The Woodland Fray, Goblin Beachhead Fort, and Occupied Ruins will be revealed. So now, it is time to head to each of them. However, before you go there, it is better to visit Glenfirm Village first.

Head To The Glenfirm Village

glenfirm village Regions of Ruin: Runegate
Regions of Ruin Runegate: Walkthrough – Glenfirm Village

Once you reach the village, head right and talk to the Boar Tribe Guard. This will start the Boar Tribe Village quest. Choose the second option and then enter the village. Just proceed forward, and the Boar Tribe Village quest will be completed.

Then, enter the second house, and a cutscene will begin. When the conversation between the chief and the other person is completed, head to the chief and talk to him. Choose the first option, and the quest Find the Runeaway Key will be updated in Regions of Ruin Runegate. Choose the first option again and continue the conversation further.

Then choose the first option once again, and shortly after that, a new quest will begin.

Prove Yourself To The Boar Tribe

A new location has now been revealed for you, so it is time to go there. Make sure to loot the area before leaving. Once you have collected everything, head to Falkirk Village, which is located on the left side of the map.

When you arrive there, head right while ignoring everyone, and then enter the house. Talk to Chief Cormac and select the first option. Select the first option again, and then you will be given three more dialogue options to choose from. Select all of them, and then three different quests will begin.

After that, exit the house, head right, loot the surrounding area, and prepare yourself because it is time to defeat those greenskins.

Head To The Greenskin War Camp

greenskin war camp Regions of Ruin: Runegate
Regions of Ruin Runegate: Walkthrough – Greenskin War Camp

As you reach the Greenskin War Camp, head right, and the goblins will not attack you immediately. Instead, the one wearing a mask will ask you to fight their boss. After just a few hits, the boss will go down, and as expected, the goblins will start attacking you.

I did not have a tough time fighting them, as I had the Greatsword (Emerald), which I bought from the trader at the base.

The strategy here is to gather them in a single spot and start attacking them continuously. As you defeat them, make sure to pick up the Orcish Axe, as it is a rare one-handed weapon. After defeating all the goblins, the area, along with the quest, will be cleared. Take your time and loot everything in sight before leaving.

Head Back To Falkirk Village

Now that you have completed one of the quests, head back to Falkirk Village and talk to the chief. Select the first option, and you will receive your reward. With that, the Prove Yourself to the Boar Tribe quest will also be updated.

Now, in order to give him 500 food, you will need to upgrade the storage house, as the current maximum storage capacity is only 250 items. Upgrade the storage and make sure to repair the fishing dock located at the bottom left side of the base.

Assign one worker there, and you should start getting food continuously over time. That said, you do not necessarily have to give them the food or the metal. You can simply defeat the goblins and then head back to Glenfirm Village.

Head Back To The Glenfirm Village

Once you are back in the village, head to where the chief is and talk to him. Upon speaking with him, the quest Prove Yourself to the Boar Tribe will be completed successfully.

The chief will then allow you to enter the elder’s hut, so exit the chief’s hut and head to the right side. Ahead, you will see two guards who will now allow you to go inside the elder’s hut without any trouble. Enter the hut and then talk to Ernan.

Select the first option and then continue selecting the dialogue options as they appear. After that, choose the option where you ask him to take you there.

You will then reach the Boar Tribe Sanctuary. Once you are there, head right, and a cutscene will start. When the cutscene ends, talk to the elder, and your quest will be updated accordingly. Then, a new quest called Stellan of Sysla will be triggered. However, before heading to the new location, let’s clear the areas we discovered by talking to the elder in the Limia Village.

Head To The Occupied Ruins

occupied ruins Regions of Ruin: Runegate
Regions of Ruin Runegate: Walkthrough – Occupied Ruins

Occupied Ruins will be left to the Glenfirm Village, so head there. From there, head left and talk to the warrior. Select the first option and offer your help. This will start the Unwanted Greenskin Sojourners quest.

Unwanted Greenskin Sojourners

Now that the quest has begun, simply go further left, and you will encounter some goblins. You should take care of the one who is throwing spears from the top, and then focus on the others. After defeating them, loot the area and then go ahead. Again, take care of the ones at the top, throwing the spears, and then focus on the others.

This will allow you to defeat the goblins much more easily, so when done, free the prisoner and loot the area. There will also be a jug of beer in the middle, so make sure to drink it. After defeating all of the goblins, the quest will be updated, and the area will be cleared.

Then, talk to the warrior and select the first option. Now that you have cleared the Occupied Ruins, it is time to head to the Woodland Fray.

Head To The Woodland Fray

the wwoodland fray Regions of Ruin: Runegate

It will be a little to the left and then to the north of the Occupied Ruins. Once you are there, head right and talk to Ardan. As you talk to him, the A Forested Defense quest will start.

A Forested Defense

The greenskins will then arrive, so you have to defeat them along with the others. There are going to be a few waves of goblins, and you should focus on one side, as you should have plenty of strength to take care of most of them. Once you have defeated all of them, the area will be cleared. Loot the chest for some rewards and then talk to Ardan to complete the quest.

Head To Goblin Beachhead Fort

Regions of Ruin Runegate: Walkthrough – Goblin Beachhead Fort.

This area will be north of the Greenskin War Camp, so now head there. There are going to be a few goblins ahead, but they will not come at you all together. As you go further ahead, more will appear, so defeat them as you progress.

Then you will find a prisoner. Free him and then talk to him. With that, the area will be cleared, so loot everything, and then it is time to head to the Sysla Trading Village.

Head To The Sysla Trading Village

This, as the name suggests, is a trading village, so you can buy a lot of things. That said, to continue progressing the story, head right and enter the house right next to the weapon trader. Inside, there will be a man named Bjarke. Talk to him and select the first option.

Then, exit the house, head right, and talk to Hrolf. He will not let you in, so select the option with the dots, and you will get another dialogue. After that, he will ask you whether you are good with the blade, and you will get four options. The third option is very tempting, but it may lead to a different outcome, so instead choose the second one. He will then ask you to do a task for him, so agree to it.

Now, before you go there, head back to the base, as it is time to unlock some healing potions.

Unlocking The Healing Potions

You can unlock the healing potions by repairing the apothecary. This will require some resources, but you should have them by now, and if you do not, assign your workers to collect them. Once done, repair the building, and Eira will provide you with some potions.

So now, every time you get hurt, you will not have to come back to the base, as you can simply use healing potions. That said, once you are out of the healing potions, head back to Eira, and as she heals you, your potions will also be replenished.

Investigate Icewatch Outpost

outpost Regions of Ruin: Runegate

The Icewatch Raven Clan Outpost is just left of the trading village, so head there. As you reach there, head right, and a giant goblin from the top will start shooting arrows toward you. To the right, there will be another giant goblin, so take care of it first.

By now, I had the backstab ability unlocked, and it is really helpful. Just dashing past the enemy deals massive damage to them, so make sure to unlock it too. That said, you should have the dagger equipped for this to work.

When you have defeated some of the goblins, head up the platform on the right side, and it is time to defeat the one shooting arrows. Once you have defeated all of them, the quest will be updated. Then the area will also be cleared, so it is time to head back to the Sysla Trading Village.

Head Back To The Sysla Trading Village

Head right and talk to Hrolf, and then select the first option. Continue the conversation and then enter the house to talk to Stellan. Continue the conversation, and as you are talking, you will get to choose between three options.

Choose the first option, and you will now have to do something for the leader of the Raven Clan.

Head To The Ambushed Raven Clan Caravan

It will be just south of the trading village, so head there. Ahead will be some dead bodies, and as you go ahead, a small explosion will occur, and you will be ambushed by zombies. Jump and dash to one of the sides so you can take care of them more easily.

After you have defeated all of them, head back to the trading village and talk to the leader. As you talk to him, he will tell you about the food problem they are dealing with. As I had plenty of money, I gave 400 gold as a donation, but you can go with 100 food, too.

Continue talking to him, and then the Three Ravens on the Wind quest will be triggered, along with Captain Knut of the Frostbite, Captain Lief of the Skybrand, and Captain Erik of the Galehorn.

Now, exit the house, head left, and go up the platform to find a floating ship. Enter the ship, and Eirik will be at the bottom. Talk to him and tell him that you want to get to the Raven’s Perch. You can either head to fight Bulvi now, or you can first take out Knut and Lief. I recommend the latter.

Head To The Northern Reach Outpost

This will be north of the trading village, so head there to kill Knut. Once you are there, head left, and as you go there, the enemies are going to start attacking you. I recommend using the knife here. Dash past them to use the backstab, and then stab them from behind to deal tremendous damage.

Inside the house will be another enemy, so enter, defeat him, and drink the beer. Ahead will be more enemies, along with a wolf. Take care of them too, and if you take more damage, make sure to use the healing potion. Ahead, some enemies will be on the platform, shooting arrows, so take care of them.

Once you are at the top of the platform, jump to the right and defeat more enemies. Then jump to the right again to face more of them. Make sure to defeat the bowman first. Then head up the stairs, and there you will find Knut on the ship.

Defeat Knut

Knut is extremely strong, so you will have to be careful here. He can take you out quickly, as his attacks are on a completely different level than the normal enemies you have faced.

Now, before you fight him, make sure to enter the room and open the chest to find rare armor. Equip that and then fight Knut. My strategy in this fight was really simple. I used the dagger and performed a backstab on him repeatedly. You just need to dash behind him and then attack.

Do this a few times, and he will go down. It is that simple. With that, you will have completed one of the three quests.

Head To The Vindrakkar Staging Area

Once you are there, you will not be attacked, as the quest is to talk to Lief. So, head up to the ship and talk to him. Lief has been ordered to raid Rockmanor, so you will now get to choose between two options.

Choose the first one, and you will have to just give him food. After you have given him 600 food, select the first option again, and he will now join you in the fight.

Head To Raven’s Perch

raven's perch Regions of Ruin: Runegate
Heading to Raven’s Perch to get The Runeaway Key in Regions of Ruin: Runegate.

Now that you have killed Knut and taken Lief to your side, it is time to head to the Raven’s Perch. So, head to Eirik and travel to the destination. To find Bulvi, head right and then drop down. Go near the house, and a cutscene will commence. Defeating Bulvi will not be that tough, as you have many companions.

Defeat Bulvi to get the Runeaway Key in Regions of Ruin: Runegate.

So, using the dagger and the backstab technique will make this fight very easy. After attacking him a few times, he will fall. Then, he will get up and run away, so follow him and keep attacking. His men will now join the fight. Keep fighting, and then you will get the option to talk to Bulvi.

Talk to him and continue the conversation. Eventually, you will get the Runeaway Key in Regions of Ruin: Runegate, and a new quest, A New World, will trigger. With that, a new world will be discovered.

Head Back To The Base

the runeaway key Regions of Ruin: Runegate
Regions of Ruin: Runegate: Walkthrough – The Runeaway Key.

Now that you have the key, you can head back to the base, but before that, make sure to loot everything. The houses contain a lot of loot, so once you collect it all, go back to the base, and a cutscene will commence.

With that, the Otam world will be cleared, and the Part 2 walkthrough detailing how to find the Runeaway Key in Regions of Ruin: Runegate comes to an end. Looking for more interesting walkthroughs? Please check the ones below:
