Welcome to Into Indie Games’ walkthrough for Chapter 4 of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy.
As Sophia and Leni descend into the unknown, they race toward the first trial. But with the army hot on their trail, they must act fast if they want to make it out safely.

Reaching the Trial’s Entrance
After the cutscene, go forward and look for a path to the left.
Climb up the platform, and you’ll spot a piece of cloth stuck to a tree on the other side of the gap. Jump across and follow the path to the left.
Crouch through the opening in the wall and continue forward to see that the army has already landed on the shore of the island. Shimmy across the ledge on the right.
Obtaining the Light Reveal Sphere Upgrade
This takes you to a narrow passage overlooking the bridge. The soldiers are trying to ram the door open.
Keep moving forward, and as you shimmy across a wooden ledge, you’ll fall. As you slide, use your Grapnel to swing across to the bridge with the enemies.
Take down the enemies and head inside through the door to reach the Trial’s Entrance.
Make your way toward the door. Interact with the Receptacle to trigger a cutscene and obtain the Light Reveal Sphere Upgrade.
Solving Door Puzzle #1
Three more pedestals rise from the ground after the cutscene.
Interact with one of the pedestals. You can rotate the disc to select different symbols.
Use Light Reveal on the murals. You’ll spot a hidden symbol on the murals and a line that connects to one of the pedestals. This shows you the symbol that you’ll have to select for each pedestal.
Doing so opens the large door in front of you, and you can head through.
Progressing Through the Trial
Walk to the edge of the path and turn right. You’ll have to make your way down using the scaffolds.
Go down and jump across the scaffolds till you reach a passage. Go to the end and turn right to spot a tunnel through the rubble.
Once you make it across, you’ll reach another passageway that leads you to a chamber with another puzzle for you to solve.
Solving Door Puzzle #2
Look for a staircase in the chamber. Go up the stairs and stand on the pressure switch. This will create a light beam that reflects into one of the mirrors in the room.
Go back down as Leni keeps pressure on the switch. Then move the mirrors around so they bounce off each other and fall on the medallion at the center of the door.
Once the door is open, head through and crouch past the rubble up ahead. You’ll spot the soldiers with their torches on the other side of the chasm.
Turn right and continue along the path. You’ll run into some more soldiers stationed near the door. Take them out.
Interact with the door and head into another large chamber with some more pedestals. You’ll have to solve another puzzle to open the door on the other side.
Solving Door Puzzle #3
The idea is the same as the last door puzzle you solved. Use Light Reveal to see a maze on the floor that’s connected to different symbols on the broken stone pillars.
Trace which symbols connect to the pedestals and rotate the dial to match the symbol. The left dial connects to the symbol that looks like an O with four legs, while the right dial connects to the symbol that looks like an F.
The fires light up around the room, and the door opens. But you get ambushed by the soldiers. Take them out.
Proceed through the door and continue moving forward after dealing with the soldiers. Soon the passage will turn dark.
You’ll spot a strange golden sphere up ahead. Walk toward it to trigger a cutscene.
Make your way around the circular room and head through the crack in the wall.
Keep moving forward and use the Sphere to unlock the door on the right. This will take you to a room with spike traps.
Navigating the Spike Traps
Use the Light Reveal to see some symbols on the pressure plate. There are also four symbols on the walls.
The wall symbols indicate the pressure plates that are safe to walk over. So for the first set of traps, you’ll have to walk along the left wall.
For the second set of traps, you’ll have to walk two tiles along the right wall and then jump to the middle tile on the last row.
This will take you to a passage with spikes coming out of the walls. There are six switches along the wall near you. You have to figure out the correct switch to turn off the trap.
Use Light Reveal to figure out the safe switch (far eft) to press. Then walk through the passage to reach the next room.
The final room in the area is filled with spike traps. There’s a lens on a platform on the left that’s shining a beam at the pressure plates.
Go down the stairs and stand on the beam of light. Use Light Reveal to spot a marked path through the zone. This is the path that you’ll have to follow to get through safely.
Move toward the lens and help Leni climb up to the platform.
Stand where the light is shining and use Light Reveal to make your way forward. Leni will guide the lens to help you see the hidden marking.
There will be some obstacles along the way that prevent Leni from aiming the light directly at you. Make sure you memorize the path before you set off in those sections.
Go up the stairs once you make it through and break the wooden beams off to let Leni rejoin you. Interact with the door to open it and head through.
Keep moving forward. As you reach an open passage, spikes will appear above you. Sprint to the other side before you get skewered.
You’ll spot a crack on the wall up ahead that you can squeeze through. Follow the passage till you arrive in a room with a large pillar. Interact with the Receptacle to open a door below.
This takes you to a Hero’s Grave. Loot the chest to find an alternative weapon for Sophia. Go through the hole past the chest when you’re ready.
Keep moving forward, and you’ll eventually zipline across the chasm to reach the other side of the zone. There’s a door nearby that you can open using your Sphere.
This leads to another chamber with spikes. There’s a lever up ahead. Interact with it to deactivate the lever and let Leni cross over.
You’ll be ambushed by some more soldiers. Take them out.
Once the fight is over, Leni will use the lever on the other side, and you can pass through.
Head through the door straight ahead to reach a large room. Drop down and use the Receptacle to activate the platform and descend. This will trigger a cutscene.
Theseus Memories – The Combat Arena
As you reach the bottom and take in the horrific sight, Sophia gets another vision of Theseus in a large arena. Head toward the center of the arena.
Fight off your rivals and be the last man standing in the arena. You’ll unlock Focus Ability during the battle.
Once the fight is over, you’ll be back playing as Sophia.
Clearing The First Trial
After the conversation with Leni, push forward past the petrified bodies.
You’ll reach the same arena you saw in Theseus’ Memories. Only this time, the giant bull’s head statue is sunk below the platform, and there are three lenses around the arena.
You can interact with the lenses to shine the light at one of the golden plates on the wall around the arena. Some of these plates have symbols under them while others are blank.
You’ll also notice similar symbols on the floor of the arena. A few of these symbols have a blue border around them.
Once you spot these elements, Sophia will note them down in the Book. Inspect the book to see that there are two pairs of symbols. Start with the top pair.
Shine the lights on the two positions shown in the image above.
This will lift one of the bull’s hands onto the platform
With that done, aim the light at the second pair of symbols as shown in the image above. This will lift the second bull’s hand onto the platform.
Use Light Reveal near the rings on both hands to spot another pair of symbols.
Then use the lenses to shine a light on the final pair of symbols. Check the image above for the correct positions. You’ll have to use the third unlit lens for this part of the puzzle.
This will raise the bull’s head, and a Receptacle will appear between the hands. Interact with it to trigger a cutscene.
Fight off the enemies and survive the ambush.
Once the fight is over, use the Receptacle once again to create a path forward.
Head through the door at the end of the path.
Get on the boat, and it’ll take you to the other side.
Grab the round object near the door once you get across. This will open the door, and you can head inside.
Push the object toward the center and get on the platform to descend.
There’s another sphere lock on the door at the bottom. Interact with it to open the door and move on to the second trial that continues in the next chapter.
