Restaurats – Career Mode Walkthrough

Rastaurats

Restaurats is a restaurant-management game where you have to serve your customers their desired dishes, and you’ll also have to make sure they’re not disturbed by imps or the dirt that’s left behind by other customers, while also expanding your business and the variety of recipes in your menu. For more information on the title, visit its official Steam page here.

There are two primary game modes in Restaurats: Friendslop and Career. Career mode focuses on casual gameplay, which can also be played with friends, but there are no time limits, and you can keep playing for as long as you like and grow your restaurant.

Introduction And Tutorial

Before you start the game, you have to create a rat and name it. Each rat can only play the specific game mode that you’ve chosen. A rat made for career mode can only play career mode, and vice versa. Now, after choosing the game mode and creating your rat, you can dive into your very own restaurant.

There will be an arrow over your head leading you to Louis, who’ll give you a short tutorial. You can skip it if you like, but if you choose to play along, it will teach you all the basics. You’ll first have to dress your character, and then you’ll have to clean up the rubble in the restaurant.

The game will then automatically order a barrel of water for you, and you’ll have to wait a while for the supplier to arrive and deliver it. After that, you have to pick up the delivery box and place the barrel inside the cooking space. After that, you can ring the bell to open up your restaurant and start serving customers.

Even if you skip the tutorial, all the materials and ingredients that you’re supposed to receive in the tutorial will still be delivered to you. But you’ll have to go and pick it up yourself from the delivery area.

Setting Up The Restaurant And Paying Your Taxes

Your restaurant can be divided into two parts. There’s the kitchen and the seating section. You can place all the facilities and ingredients in the kitchen. For the seating section, you can only place tables and stools for the customers.

Furthermore, you can also decorate the walls of both sections of your restaurant by using cosmetic items and portraits. Each section has a path leading to an interconnected network of tunnels. You have to make use of the space inside your kitchen area, because as the game progresses, you’ll need more and more structures for storage and cooking.

Placing certain structures also incurs tax, regardless of whether you’re using them or not. For example, you’ll have to pay 2 gold coins every day as tax for owning an oven. If you decide to get another oven, the tax will increase by 4x, a lot more for your third oven, and so on.

This is why you’ll have to use the storage space wisely. Avoid buying anything you don’t need. If your tax is more than what you have in your pocket, it will be game over. Taxes are automatically deducted after you’ve ended a work shift.

Cooking

There are several types of ingredients in the game. Any cooked meal can’t be stored in storage boxes, but you can store raw ingredients and processed ingredients. If a complicated dish requires sliced onions, you can either store them as is, or you can slice and grill them and then store them so you can easily pull them out of the food box and throw them on the packaging station to quickly get your desired dish.

You can boil ingredients in a cauldron, bake them in an oven, or fry and grill them over a grill. However, you’ll have to purchase all of these structures separately, except for the grill, because you’d have it by default.

The first part of cooking is to get the desired ingredient, and then you’ll have to package it at a packaging station before serving it to the customers. However, some dishes don’t require being packaged after being prepared, such as a pie or pizza, as you can easily deliver them right after taking them out of the oven.

Processing your ingredients is going to take a lot of time, and it’s exactly what you should be doing every time before opening a restaurant, especially in higher difficulty modes. In higher difficulty, customers don’t wait as long, and you just have to throw the processed ingredients together to get your desired dish as quickly as possible.

You can also check the recipe of a dish anytime by opening the recipe menu and selecting the desired dish. There are tiers for recipes, with tier 1 being the easiest, and it gets more difficult and complicated the higher up you go, with tier 3 requiring up to 5 or 6 separate ingredients.

Skill Tree

Cleaning, processing ingredients, and serving customers all give you experience. As you level up, you can unlock the skills from the Skill Tree, which can drastically enhance your performance.

These skills can enhance your speed, allow you to manage more customers and carry more items, as well as grant you more power. You’ll get experience fairly slowly, but it keeps piling up after each work shift. You can see your current level and level-up progress in the bottom-left corner of the screen.

If there’s a ‘+’ icon on the level indicator, it means that you have a free skill point available that can be used to unlock a skill from the Skill tree.

Taking Orders And Serving Customers

The most important part of the gameplay is serving your customers. You can do so by welcoming the customers first. They’ll wait for you outside of the seating space, and you’ll have to interact with the counter to welcome the customers. After that, you’ll have to guide the customers to their seats.

At first, you’ll only be able to welcome one customer at a time, but you can level up your talent skills to be able to manage multiple customers at once. After a customer has been seated, they’ll give you their order. You’ll have to deliver the order within the given time.

The waiting bar will continue to reduce if the customer is waiting in line before being seated, and even after they’ve given out their orders. Make sure you’ve placed at least two tables and four stools in your sitting area so you can accommodate at least four customers at a time.

At times, your restaurant will be invaded by imps. These terrifying creatures need to be put in place by a baguette. You can find one in your kitchen or order a barrel of one from the shop. Take the baguette out of the barrel and smack the imps with it so they can’t make a mess of your kitchen or annoy your customers.

Unique Customers

Once in a while, you’ll get VIP customers. These customers appear different and usually have larger orders, but they also pay a huge tip, which is a bonus for providing good service. On the other hand, you’ll also get rowdy customers who’d barge in without needing to be welcomed in. These customers have to be served quickly, or they’ll end up disturbing other polite customers.

Most customers will leave dirt when leaving their seats, alongside dirty plates. You have to clean the dirt so the customers don’t get dissatisfied quickly. Dirty plates will have to be cleaned inside the kitchen space, but it’s best to do it after you’ve served all the customers.

You can also serve customers by throwing the dishes at them, which can be useful when running to them is proving time-consuming. Make sure you match the name of the customer with their order because most of them look the same, and it’s easy to make mistakes here.

As you progress, you’ll also encounter couriers. These couriers don’t sit in the sitting space. Instead, they’ll stand by the window of your kitchen. These couriers usually have bigger time limits and bigger orders than regular customers. You can serve each dish individually, and once they have all that they’ve ordered, they’ll pay you and leave.

Improvements

After successfully completing your work shift, you may receive improvements. These improvements are often randomized, and you’ll get rarer ones of them as you keep progressing.

You’ll get three cards, each with a different improvement. It can be a recipe, gold, or reputation bonus. You’ll have to pick one of the available options. The randomness makes each run a unique experience, but you also have to be careful because rarer recipes require more ingredients, and if you pick them, you’ll also have to make space for the ingredients.

Whenever you pick a new recipe from Improvements, the first set of ingredients is delivered to you for free. You’d have 10 of each pre-processed ingredient, and it’s an easy way to catch up on gold.

Underground Tunnels

Underground tunnels are interconnected under your restaurant, so you can easily get from one place to the other through them. However, these tunnels also have fun mini-games.

You’ll find the wardrobe here, where you can dress your rats to make them look as goofy as possible. You can also play blackjack here, which can let you win big easily, or you can also lose your entire restaurant here, which will result in game over once you’re unable to pay the taxes.

Furthermore, there’s also an anti-gambler hammer here. If you’re playing with friends and you see them playing blackjack, you can smack them with the hammer to stop them from losing all the money or stop them from making a ton of it. You’ll also find a garbage pile here, and you can throw anything unnecessary down there to make it disappear.

You will also find two treasure chests and a wheel of fortune here. You can open these chests and roll on the wheel of fortune once every day. The treasure chests allow you to gain cosmetic items and portraits, which can be used to decorate your restaurant. The wheel of fortune has emojis, outfits, and a lot more.

There’s also an alchemy lab here. You can use the alchemy lab to make potions that provide you with strange bonuses and debuffs. You’ll need rare items for conducting alchemy, which can be obtained by serving VIP customers. Don’t forget to check where the VIPs were seated for these items.

Career Run

Career can be played for as long as you want, but things keep getting difficult as you unlock more recipes. You’ll have to expand your business and make sure you’re ready to meet the demands of your customers.

At the start, you’ll have to start with one table, but you can quickly add another one by purchasing it from the store. In most cases, you wouldn’t need more than three tables at best, because there aren’t that many customers in most of the early part of the game.

Clean your restaurant after the customers leave and prepare for your next work shift by processing ingredients. Once you’re ready, ring the bell and start working. At the end of each shift, you’ll get a detailed bill of what you had to spend on preparations and what you earned from profits.

Keep cooking and keep growing until you’re handling any number of customers and their challenging dishes with ease in your very own restaurant.
