Welcome to the fourth part of our walkthrough for Ritual of Raven. At the end of the last chapter, you finally manage to track down Pip, Dan’s sister and Sage’s ex-apprentice. You’ll need her help to learn all you can about the Portal Keepers.
However, before she helps you, she needs something in return.

Huxley Needs a Library
After leaving Pip’s cottage in the Crystal Forest, head back to the village. You’ll need someone who can help research how to build a magical staff. The only person who comes to mind is Huxley.
You’ll find him in Bowie’s Tavern. Go inside and talk to him.
As expected, Huxley is more than happy to assist. However, to carry out proper research, he’ll need a better setup. In other words, he needs a library, and the first step to building one is to buy a bookshelf.
Head over to Pistachio’s shop and purchase a Big Bookshelf. It costs only 30 Shards, which shouldn’t be difficult to earn at this stage.
Return to Huxley and give him the Big Bookshelf as part of his Friendship questline.
While Huxley mentions that a single bookshelf won’t suffice, Raven suggests repurposing the old abandoned building near Pistachio’s shop to create a proper public library.
Exit the tavern and head to the boarded-up building next to Pistachio’s shop. Interact with the wooden boards to tear them down.
Huxley will appear and give you a list of items needed to furnish the library. You’ll need:
- 4 Big Bookshelves
- 6 Small Bookshelves
- 1 Comfy Chair
- 1 Library Table
All of these can be purchased from Pistachio’s shop, but they’re not cheap. So you may need to harvest plants or go portal fishing for items to sell at the Shard Portal.
Once you’ve collected everything, head inside the library building. Huxley will be waiting there. Talk to him and hand over the requested items.
He’ll need a day to set everything up. So head back to your cottage and go to sleep.
The Library Opens
After waking up the following day, head back to the Library. Huxley confesses that he couldn’t do it all on his own. After working through the night, he’s only managed to open a single box.
Thankfully, the villagers come in to lend a hand. On top of that, Dan, Coco, and Bowie also bring books to donate to the library. With everybody’s help, the library gets set up in no time.
Congratulate Huxley and let the conversation play out. After that, talk to Huxley again and give him the stash of books that Pip gave you earlier. Inspecting the book, Huxley notices that there’s a fragment that’s missing.
Just then, you hear a knock on the door, and Dan comes in with a new set of books. As it turns out, these books are exactly the thing you need.
Interact with the study table beside Huxley and drop all three Spell Jar Recipe Fragments into the empty box.
Then, interact with the assembled ritual page on the nearby pedestal.
You’ll unlock the Ritual of the Sorcerer’s Staff in your Book of Shadows, complete with the list of ingredients required.
Gathering Liquid Opal
Head to Pip’s cottage in the Crystal Forest and speak with her to update her on your progress with the ritual. She’ll explain that the magic involved is more complicated than expected, and you’ll need the help of a crystal expert.
The first ingredient you’ll need is a Liquid Opal. Thankfully, you already know a crystal expert who might be willing to help out.
Leave the cottage and follow the quest marker to find Calytrix.
Speak with her, and she’ll give you the Extract Crystals card, which allows your Construct to collect special minerals like Liquid Opal.
There’s a Tarot Card floating on a stone block nearby. Use it to complete the Arcana Puzzle and collect the Liquid Opal you need for the Ritual.
Finding a Woodworker
The next ingredient is a Staff, and for that, you’ll need a woodworker. Follow the quest marker deeper into the Crystal Forest to reach the old workshop Pip mentioned.
When you arrive, take a moment to explore. Interact with the three objects outside the house.
You’ll find a Key in the grass. Use it to head inside the workshop.
You’ll have to inspect three more objects inside.
A cutscene will trigger, and Pistachio will suddenly walk in on you. As it turns out, he’s the woodworker you’ve been searching for all along.
Talk to Pistachio to explain why you are here. Pistachio will, in turn, explain that he builds a few wooden items from time to time to fill up his shop inventory.
Grateful for your discretion, Pistachio agrees to build a Staff for Pip.
All he needs is a good Stick, and luckily, you don’t have to go far. Head to the portal north of the workshop and start the Portal Fishing mini-game until you catch a Stick.
Once you manage to find one, return to Pistachio and hand it over. He’ll need some time to craft the perfect Staff. But you’ve still got some more ingredients left to collect.
Gathering the Rest of the Ingredients
Now that you’ve handled the two main components of the ritual, it’s time to gather the rest. To complete the Ritual of the Sorcerer’s Staff, you’ll still need:
- 16 Butterfly Pansy
- 32 Mugwort Root
- 20 Elder Flower
- 1 Feather
The Feather and Elderflowers are pretty easy to find. You can fish for Feathers at any portal, while Elderflowers can be found by exploring the Crystal Forest. Look for white flowers growing on small green plants.
As for Butterfly Pansies and Mugwort Root, you’ll first need to buy the seeds from Coco’s shop. These plants only grow during the full moon, so make sure to change the moon phase from the moon shrine near your cottage.
Use your Constructs to grow and harvest the herbs needed for the ritual.
The Plan Goes South
By the time you’re done collecting the remaining ingredients, Pistachio will be ready with the finished staff. Return to his workshop and talk to him.
Collect the item and head back to Pip’s cottage to show it to her.
Pip will quickly notice the staff looks nothing like the one she lost. She’s still worried that Dan will be upset, since the original belonged to their mother.
Leave the cottage and make your way to Dan’s Diner. It’s up to you to break the news to him.
As you approach the diner, Raven starts talking about how to deliver the bad news. Umbrielle overhears the conversation and rushes off to tell Dan herself.
Go inside the diner to try and stop her, but you don’t see Umbrielle anywhere.
Talk to Dan. Talk to Dan, and he’ll tell you that he suddenly figured out why Pip might be avoiding him. Turns out Umbrielle spilling the beans was a good thing after all.
Speak with Dan again, and he’ll ask for your help preparing a treat for Pip. He wants to bake a special Seedcake to show Pip that everything’s fine and that the only thing Dan cares about is his little sister’s well-being.
To start, you’ll need to harvest 8 Dandelion Flowers. Head back to your cottage and use your Construct to grow and gather them.
Once you have the flowers, go talk to Charly. Give her the Dandelion Flowers, and she’ll brew the tea needed for the Seedcake.
You’ll also need 4 Chamomile Seeds, 4 Rosemary Seeds, and 4 Lavender Seeds. You can buy all of them from Coco’s shop.
Deliver the items to Dan. Now it’s time to convince Pip to finally meet her brother.
The Ritual of the Sorcerer’s Staff
Head back to Pip’s cottage to deliver the news. Although she’s still worried, Pip agrees to meet her brother.
Go out and follow Pip to the drop-off point. Talk to her and she’ll admit how nervous she’s feeling.
Dan arrives at that very moment, leading to a wholesome reunion between the two siblings.
After Dan walks off, return to Pip’s cottage and talk to her. It’s time for the ritual.
If you’ve gathered all the required ingredients and changed the moon phase to a new moon, head to the ritual site in the Crystal Forest.
Talk to Pip, and soon the rest of the villagers will arrive to show their support.
Transfer the ingredients to their boxes and watch the cutscene play out.
A magical staff will appear inside the ritual circle.
Talk to Pip again and ask her to pick up the magic staff. Another short cutscene will trigger.
