Rivage Walkthrough – All Puzzles Guide – Part 3

rivage walkthrough

Welcome to Into Indie Games’ walkthrough for part 3 of Rivage.

The Train Pass lets us board the train to travel to the upper section of different facilities in the Ares Space Station. We’ll have to jump between different parts of the area efficiently as we work our way toward the Level 3 Access Card Upgrade.

This article is part of our Rivage Walkthrough Hub – All Puzzle Solutions.

For more information about the game, check out its official website here.

Rivage features a Loop System where you have to restart when the Power in the Ares Space Station runs out. In this walkthrough, we’ll split up the sections as Loop Goals to help you figure out what to do before each Reloop.

Some of the passwords and codes found in the game can change with each playthrough. The passwords that worked for us may not work for you. That said, the steps to acquiring the right password remain the same.

Loop Goal – Checking The Laboratory Upper Floor

Fixing the Screen in Miranda’s Room

When you wake up at the start of this loop, there’s a short puzzle you’ll want to solve before moving on. Note the large screen to the right. It shows an error.

Open the Contactless panel for the screen on the wall to its right.

To solve this puzzle, you need to combine the colors on the left side to make up the color shown on the right.

The colors in the three columns to the left are added, while the two columns in the middle are subtracted from the final color. The target color is shown in the last column to the right, while your current output is shown in the column next to it.

Check the image above for a clearer idea of how the puzzle works. The puzzle is randomized for each playthrough, but it’s not too difficult.

Once solved, it will play a video advertisement on the screen at the end of which you’ll learn the name of Ares’s sponsors:

  • Starvision
  • Vulcan Dynamics
  • Atlantis
  • Vizer

Take a screenshot of the names if needed.

Exploring the Upper Floor of the Laboratory

Head to the Train Station on the upper floor of the Garage. It’s the door to the left of where you solved the Stellarnet Orbital Scout puzzle.

You’ll need to bring the Quantum Cell to ride the Train. Insert it into the Power Replay and pull the lever to power on the Train. Scan the Train Pass and the door will open.

At the back of the Train, you’ll find a note from one of Miranda‘s past loops. Listen to the recording on the Tape Recorder.

You’ll learn that the Aion plant can counteract the effects of the Sun. In other words, anything you place on the round device (replacing the Train Note) will be duplicated in the next loop. Let’s call it the Duplication Device. Pick up the Train Note.

Also note the missing cable connector for the Fusion Core.

Check the front of the train, and you’ll see a panel. You can go to the Laboratory or the Lobby right now, but to get to the Fusion Core, you’ll need to do some repairs. For this loop, let’s head to the Laboratory.

After arriving at your destination, you’ll spot a panel straight ahead. You’ll need a Badge to access it. For now, get off the train and check the desk to your left.

Listen to the Floating Cube and then pick up the Data Disc from the desk nearby.

There’s a Recorder you can listen to on a small table near the windows to the right.

With that done, click the button on the right, near the Train, to activate a ladder. This will take you to the lower level of the Laboratory.

The last time you were here, the power was out. This time, you can inspect the files on the Computers.

Inspecting the Laboratory Computers

There are two computers in the Laboratory that you can access this time. The first is next to the Microwave. The password hint says Ares’ Sponsor. Since you solved the Screen Puzzle back in Miranda’s Bedroom at the start of the loop, you can try out each of the four names till you find the right one.

This computer controls the Microwave. Check the emails. You’ll need this only if you’re trying to get all the Tarot Puzzle collectibles, which we don’t need.

There’s another computer in the Laboratory on the lower floor that you can access now. Check the Alcove Logs text file from the home screen first.

You’ll see that Rafael Almeida took the Cubic Cube last, and it’s still awaiting return. Check the chat logs and the emails.

Then return to the train on the upper floor. Place the Data Disk in the Duplication Device where you found the Train Note. You can’t take the Train anywhere else. So head back to the Garage and end the loop from the Storage Room.

Loop Goal – Checking Rafael’s Lobby Computer

Locating Rafael’s Hiding Spot

Return to the Train and pick up the Data Disc you left at the Duplication Device. Then head to the Lobby using the Train.

You’re now at the upper section of the Lobby. Go left after getting off the Train, and you’ll see that Rafael has made a small nest for himself.

You’ll find a Security Card on the computer table. But first, go through all the emails and chat logs on the computer. From the chat with Miranda, you’ll learn that the Data Disc works with this computer.

Insert the Data Disc into the connected device under the monitor to access its content. It opens a folder containing details on all the phenomena encountered at the Ares Station.

Check the .metadata file in the Data Disk. It opens a text file that contains the metadata of the Map file.

Fixing the Corrupted Parts of Map.pic

Open the map.pic file next. The file is damaged, and you have to repair the corrupted parts to access it. To solve this puzzle, you have to replace the red numbers with the numbers that represent the decoded text.

For example, in the d#atadisk part, you need to replace the number 23 with the number 61(a). Use the information in the .metadata file to fix the corrupted parts.

For the password section, check the drawings pinned to the wall behind the computer. One of these drawings will contain the password. It’s randomized for each playthrough.

Enter the decoded text into the corrupted file puzzle and click Validate when you’re done.

Take a screenshot of the image file that pops up. We’ve seen a similar 3×3 colored grid in the Garage. The number 3 on the right represents the Invisible Wall anomaly in the Connector.

The number could also be 4, which means the Gravitation anomaly in the Garage, or 2, which refers to the Slow Zone in the Lobby.

Obtaining the Cubic Cube

With that done, pick up the Containment Key from the computer table and return to the Train. Place the Containment Key in the Duplication Device before returning to the Garage.

After getting off the Train, head to the lower floor and check the box next to the computer in the middle.

Change the colors of the 3×3 grid to match the image you saw on Rafael’s Lobby Computer and pull the handle on the right to open the box.

Inside, you’ll find the Cubic Cube. But there’s one more step to complete before you can actually use it. Go back to the Storage Room and end the loop.

Loop Goal – Duplicating the Cog

This will be a short loop. Return to the Train and pick up the Containment Key. Then head to the Laboratory via the Train. Use the Containment Key to activate the panel in the central part of the upper floor.

Make sure you press the Download to K9 button first to save the access to your K9 Interface. Then press the Release button to activate the Alcove Tubes. However, a message pops up on the screen saying Repair Required.

Head down the ladder to the lower floor and open the panel at the bottom part of the Alcove.

You’ll notice that there’s a Gear missing from the device. Luckily, you have a device that can duplicate the Gears.

There’s a bit of trial and error involved in figuring out which Gear you’ll have to duplicate. Pick up the gear with four teeth. There’s only one of these Gears in the mechanism.

Place it on the Duplication Device and return to the Garage. You’re done with this loop and can start the next one.

Loop Goal – Obtaining Rafael’s Keycard (Level 4 Access)

Solving the Gear Puzzle

Pick up the duplicated Gear from the Train and go back to the Laboratory. Activate the Alcove Tubes and head down to the panel to repair it. Before you place the gear, try pulling on the handle at the top right.

You’ll see that power is diverted from the top gear and passes along the rest of the Gears to the three sections near the bottom.

There are also six squares at the bottom that light up depending on which symbols are activated. You’ll have to adjust the Gears so that the power channels through, activating the correct symbols in the correct order.

You’ll have to swap out the Gear positions to figure out the correct answer. Check the image above for the correct placement of the Gears before you pull the handle.

Return to the panel on the upper floor and click the Open button after solving the puzzle.

A mechanical arm will take a container out of the tube and place it on the table. Open the container.

Pick up the note inside. It’s a message from Rafael. Make sure you take a screenshot of this note. The symbols along the upper section are important.

Return to the Train and go back to the Garage.

Solving the Cubic Cube Puzzle

Note

Where you have to solve the Cubic Cube depends on Rafael’s Note from the Lobby Computer. This can be either 2, 3, or 4, and it changes per playthrough. If the note gives you 2 or 3, you can solve this section in the current loop. However, if you get 4, you will have to solve this puzzle in the next loop.

Go down to the Garage and retrieve the Cubic Cube. Then head to the anomaly zone shown in Rafael’s Note from the Lobby Computer. For us, it was the Invisible Wall in the Connector.

Open the Cubic Cube from your inventory while standing inside the yellow circle of the anomaly zone. The cube will start to glow. You can click the dashes and the arrows on the cube to rotate the sides.

Open the screenshot of Rafael’s Note you found in the Laboratory. The symbols along the top dictate how you have to rotate the cube to activate it.

There will be two types of symbols on the note.

  • Type 1 has three differently colored sections, of which one half of one section is filled in.
  • Type 2 has two sections of the same color, one of which is filled in and has a curving arrow on it.

To solve Type 1 symbols, find a corner on the cube that matches the given three outlined colors. Then, on the note, observe which half-section is filled in and which outline color is adjacent to it. On the cube, click on the corner of the (filled-in) color that is adjacent to the (outlined) color.

For example, in the screenshot given above, the first symbol instructs us to find a corner of the cube with purple, white, and blue corners. This symbol has ‘white’ filled in, which is adjacent to the blue outline. Therefore, you need to locate the corner of the white tile that is adjacent to the blue tile, and click on it.

In the second symbol, you must click on the corner of the red tile that is adjacent to the yellow tile, and so on.

If done correctly, you’ll hear an audio cue and the cube will pop open for a brief moment.

To solve Type 2 symbols, find a middle tile that matches the symbol color. Then, figure out which arrow on the cube matches the arrow direction in the note, and click on it accordingly.

Once you input all the correct rotations, you’ll be transported to the Shed.

There’s a Recorder on the table that you can use. But the most important thing here is Rafael’s Level 4 Access Card.

Pick it up and scan the backside to add it to your K9 unit.

When you’re done, open the Cubic Cube and rotate it any way you like to return to your initial location.

Checking Rafael’s Locker

Now that you’ve got Rafael’s Access Card, there’s one more thing you can do before ending the loop. Head to the locker section of the Pod Bay and open his locker.

On the top shelf, you’ll find a QR Code. Scan the code. Pick up the Disc 05 from the middle shelf as well.

Once the scan is complete, you’ll get a Calendar upgrade for your K9 unit. It shows the time for several events in the loop.

Return to your room and play Disc 05 using your audio player. You’ll learn that Rafael sometimes refers to Miranda as Maezinha. This will be important later on.

Checking Rafael’s Bedroom (Do whenever you have additional Power left)

There is a time-sensitive puzzle you’ll have to complete in Rafael’s Room, but we’ll tackle that in the next part of our walkthrough. For now, you can head inside the room and check out his computer.

The password hint for Rafael’s Computer is Maezinha. Enter Miranda as the password to log in.

You’ll find a text file on his home screen where he says Jahi is throwing away evidence. Check the chat logs and the emails as well.

The last Red Button opens a software called Lattica, which is designed to hack the firewall of the Acebin. The Acebin is the large incinerator in the Garage near the ladder.

If you click on Hack, it triggers a mini-game. I’ll explain it when I cover the puzzle in the next walkthrough. You’ll also find a Recorder in the room that you can listen to.

You’re done with the current loop. So head to the Storage Room to start the next one.
