Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for Riven (2024).

Temple Island
- When you first gain control of your character, interact with the book in front of you.
- On regaining control of your character, step out of the cage and go right, where you’ll find stairs that’ll take you up.
- Once up the stairs, go left to find a golden chamber that you can rotate with the button outside the chamber.
- Press this button 4 times and go out of the cave.
- Facing the bridge opposite the golden chamber, take a left and go down the stairs to the opposite side of the island from where you came.
- Here, you’ll find a locked wooden door. Although you can’t unlock it, you can still get rid of it.
- Interact with the bolt on the hinge to the right to remove the bolt. Then interact with the door to move it out of the way.
- Enter the cave and go up to the chamber, which will be accessible because you pressed the button 4 times.
- Go through the open door opposite.
- Turn around toward the golden chamber and pull up the handle to the left of the doorway, then press the rotation button 2 times.
- Enter the golden chamber and go through the other exit, which leads to a spinning sphere. You don’t need to go to the sphere just yet.
- Instead, turn around after exiting the chamber and pull the handle next to the doorway.
- Press the rotation button 2 times again, and return to the area with the long bridge (near the stairs).
- Press the rotation button 2 times, and you’ll finally gain access to the golden-domed building.
- Head into the golden-domed building and go down the stairs to the right.
- On descending the stairs, go right again through the doorway.
- Take another right and keep going until you find a closed door. Interact with the door to open it.
- Now approach the seat in the middle of this purple chamber and interact with the it to sit.
- Push the lever on the right armrest, and then get off the seat.
- Backtrack all the way to the bridge that’s between the two flight of stairs (in front of the golden chamber entrance).
- Now cross the bridge and proceed through the tunnel on the other side.
- Interact with the stone door to open it and you’ll find yourself in a chamber with many pillars.
- Take a right here, through the door you opened from the purple chamber.
- Once out in the open, interact with the blue button near the cliff to summon the Maglev.
- Get on the Maglev and turn the round handle to the right, then turn the main lever forward to get going.
Jungle Island
- There is a lot to explore on Jungle Island, but as there’s little progress you can make here for now, we’ll just grab the essentials and move on.
- Take a left into the cave and go up the stairs.
- You will eventually reach another flight of stairs. Go down these stairs to the beach.
- When you reach the Sunner creatures, take a left and continue along the beach this way.
- When you reach a ladder and a bucket, look on the cliff wall just above them to find a Moiety Lens.
- This lens lets you see special Moiety paint, but it will also highlight certain other things on Jungle Island. You can raise the lens anytime and anywhere.
- Return to the stairs that you used to come down to the beach, and this time, take them all the way to the top.
- Cross the bridge to find a chopped forest, and follow the path right until you can enter an area full of butterflies.
- From here, take a right into the trench and get on the minecart. Pull the lever to your left to get moving to Boiler Island.
