Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for Röki. As Röki is mostly an open-ended puzzle adventure game, this guide is written in a question-and-answer format, so that you can focus on each problem individually.

Chapter 2 (Contd.)

How do I deal with the Nokken?

You first need a clue as to what the Nokken really is. For this, go to the Tree of Many (the first tree you encountered in the game) and talk to it. It will comment on you being different, and during the conversation, you will learn that the Nokken was of land. Talk to the tree a second time to learn more about the Nokken’s nature.

Next, head to the Church premises, and examine the tombstone to the very far right of the screen. This tombstone is to the right of the crypt, and upon examining it, Tove will remark about the Markesson girl.

After examining the tombstone, enter the church. Run straight ahead to the back of the church and pick up the book lying open there. Tove will remark that it’s a Parish Register.

Return to the Markesson girl’s tombstone and use the Parish Register on it. This will net you the girl’s name.

Now head all the way back to the pond where you found the Nokken. Approach the pond to reveal the Nokken’s head, and then use the Parish Register on the Nokken. This liberates the Nokken.

How do I retrieve the Wolf Staff?

With your enchanted flute, go to the Nokken’s pond and enter the cave to the right. Use your flute on the water in the cave.

Once the water is drained, use the rocky steps where the water was, to go down the hole. When you reach the bottom, use the flute once again, this time on the wall of water to the left.

Head left past the separated water, to return to the Nokken’s underwater cave. Here, climb the rocky wall near the Wolf Staff and grab the Staff.

To leave the cave, climb up the rocky steps that lead to the floor where you were tied to the chair. The water will rise again if you have retrieved the Wolf Staff. As before, head to the left, through the tunnel, and exit through the door. You will now be able to return to the Nokken’s cave whenever you wish via Trollhilde’s cave.

How do I access the path to the Wolf Guardian?

First, return to the snowy cliff where you learnt about the Wolf Staffs. Now that you have retrieved the other Wolf Staff, place it on the empty spot to the right.

Use the staff to have the right wolf face left, and then use the left staff to have the left wolf face right. This will align the wolves to face each other, just like the statues in the distance.

This will open up the way to the Wolf Guardian. When you reach the summit, use the great horn twice to awaken the Wolf Guardian.
