Saros: Cathedral Walkthrough

Defeating the Shepherd near Echelon II’s ship was a big deal, but unfortunately, Arjun also fell into the ocean, causing him to fall unconscious and later wash up on the Cathedral’s shore.

And now it’s time to continue the journey to find Nitya. This walkthrough will cover Saros‘s Cathedral section, which serves as the seventh biome of the game.

Save Nitya – Enter

Entering The Cathedral.

Walk up from the shore to the giant cathedral before you. From there, the newest biome begins with the objective “Save Nitya.”

Just before the Cathedral’s entrance chamber, you will find the next Power weapon called the Illumine, which shoots a fiery beam that penetrates through enemies. Unlike any other area, Cathedral takes place in a closed building with numerous bottomless pits, but they can be avoided via the available platforms.

The First Hallway Of The Cathedral.

Additionally, to reach the main area of the Cathedral, utilize the long veins. And with that, you have officially entered the Cathedral of Carcosa. Take a few steps forward to learn about what happened to Nitya, and how her crew members saw the “King in Yellow”, which caused them to disrupt mentally. Architect, Shephard, and Bastion were the members of Echelon I. Delroy, one of the members of Echelon I, tried to brainwash Nitya. But before anything further is revealed, the cache ends.

Ascend

The Holocaches Of Echelon I and II.

Now, move forward and ascend the staircase, but you will notice that this is a never-ending loop. So, turn around and use the Eclipse pedestal to open the paths to your left and right. First, turn right and follow the objective path. There, you will find your first new enemy of the Cathedral: Primal Rupture.

Fight your way through the horde, and don’t forget to pick up the dropped Lucenite to increase your level; in Eclpise, the Lucenite is more potent and provides extra points.

One Of The Side Paths In The Cathedral.

At the end of this path, access the portal, and everything inside the Cathedral will turn upside down. Numerous Nova projectile traps will cover your path, so either wait patiently and then move or parry your way through. You may find a Nightmare Strand in the process, and if you have enough powerful weapons and the second chance is depleted, go in for a challenge to replenish the second chance.

Arjun Using The Upside-Down Pedestal To Change The Cathedral’s Layout.

At the end of this hallway, you will find another portal to turn the Cathedral upside down. Then, punch the red-aura mechanism to end this section, and then move towards the other hallway. The entire process is the same: Get to the hallway’s end, trigger the upside-down portal, and then return to the main hallway to ring the red-aura mechanism.

One Of The Many Nova Projectile Traps.

This will cause a bell and another red-aura mechanism to form at the main intersection. Ring the mechanism to spread the bell’s part, and then jump down into the next chamber; ignore the stairs. See the portal ahead? Interact with it to initiate a backstory of Arjun and Nitya, showing what went wrong in their relationship.

The Red-Aura Mechanism.

Then, turn left to find an Eclipse Thread. It will lead you to the intersection, and from here, climb up the staircase and then fight through one massive solar cage with numerous mini-bosses.

Entrance To The Priestess Boss Fight.

Next, use the upside-down portal and then follow the path available to get to the Cathedral’s boss: Priestess.

Note: Personally, Cathedral is the hardest area of Saros and getting to the boss fight is one hell of a task. I would recommend try messing with the World Modifiers from Project's menu; try to create a balance.

Priestess Boss Fight

The Priestess.

Priestess is the crescendo boss fight in Saros, which is extremely gimmicky and requires strenuous efforts to overcome; she has three phases.

First Phase

The Priestess Throwing Multiple Corruption Bullets.

The fight begins with Priestess spawning two of her clones in a vast corridor with multiple entrances. However, hitting any of them won’t deplete her health bar. To spawn the real Priestess, defeat any two clones (there are three in total), and then the third one will transform.

Shooting At The Priestess As She Sends Shockwaves.

Her attacks include a corruption bullet beam, a Nova projectile barrage that covers an entire hallway, and three red shockwaves. To dodge the corruption bullet beam, keep moving around the arena and shoot the Priestess. Since there are numerous hallways in the arena, the Priestess covers one of them; the two copies also individually cover the other hallways.

Clear away from the hallway’s direction to avoid the Nova projectiles, and then jump over the shockwaves while simultaneously shooting at her. When she reaches below 25% health, the Priestess will summon her clones again. If she stands still for a moment, that is her cue to release numerous corruption projectiles into the arena; stand in the small gaps to avoid them.

Rinse and repeat the process to defeat the first phase.

Second Phase

The Priestess Entering The Second Phase With Her Clones.

In the second phase, the Priestess destroys the arena’s surroundings and grows in size. She spawns two of her clones again, but this time, they all have increased health bars. Additionally, they spawn a black hole that transforms into a ball, throwing Nova projectiles all around the arena.

The Priestess Sending The Nova Projectiles.

You can either brute force your way through and defeat the clones or look around the arena and ring the red-aura mechanisms to despawn them. With this, the fight against the real Priestess begins once again. Most of her attacks are the same, but she uses a spiral barrage of corruption projectiles that is tricky to dodge. Either jump across the multiple platforms or use your shield to avoid the attack.

Third Phase

Entering The Priestess’s Final Phase.

Once again, the arena shifts during the third phase, and the platform continues to fall. This time, the Priestess is alone, and she’s massive in size. Her attacks have a variety, and she can negate all of your bullets. To make her vulnerable, look around and ring two of the red-aura mechanisms. If you don’t ring them fast enough, the Nova projectiles on the ground will damage you regularly.

The Priestess Throwing Multiple Bullets.

This will unlock her health bar. Start shooting at her chest and avoid all incoming bullets. She incorporates all of her previous phase attacks and introduces two more: two blue bullet vortexes. Keep moving, destroy the mechanisms when her health bar is locked, and avoid her attacks.

The Priestess, Defeated.

With that, you will become the victor of this battle. When it ends, interact with any of the hallways presented before you, which executes a cutscene of Arjun and Nitya’s reunion.

Nitya On The Beach.

However, Arjun is suddenly called back into The Passage, ending Cathedral.

Enemy of Cathedral – Primal Rupture

Battling Against The New Enemy Of The Cathedral: Primal Rupture.

Primal Rupture is the stronger version of Rupture and the only new enemy introduced in Cathedral. They’re more nimble and shoot both blue and corruption bullets. Additionally, the RNG can provide them with a shield that can only be broken with a punch.

And here our Saros’s Cathedral walkthrough comes to an end, which will be a part of our Saros Complete Walkthrough Hub.
