Carcosa proves itself to be a relentless, merciless planet that consumes anyone who tries to escape from it. Arjun travels through the Blighted Marsh to find a missing, broken bridge part to enter the Carcosan city that will lead us to the infamous Desecrated Fortress.
In this walkthrough, I’ll completely cover Saros‘s fifth biome, including its boss fight and unique enemies that you’ll discover.

Entering the Desecrated Fortress – Raising The Bridge

After you return to the passage and witness Sheridan’s unfortunate fate, ask Kayla to fix the bridge part. However, she’s traumatized by the current situation.
Talk to Primary in the main room, and it will help you fix the bridge part. Now, use the World Dial and teleport to Shattered Descent’s bridge, and interact with the bridge controls to raise the bridge. Move through the destroyed corridors, and shoot the door’s locks at the end to enter the Desecrated Fortress.
Find Nitya – Search The City

The city is vast, and Arjun’s journey to find his wife is now entering the next phase.
Note: As usual, every run from this point is randomized. However, the amount of discoverable items and new enemies remain the same.
Traverse through the narrow streets of the city and prepare to meet some of the oldest enemies of the game here. Since it’s a massive city, you will face numerous mechanical traps that need to be delicately avoided, and continue the journey by following the blue flags on the map.

Additionally, check the white flag paths on the map to find extraneous items to help you make the run easier. Keep moving through the city until you reach a dead end, and watch the flying beast the second time.
Collect Sigils (0/?) – Optional
Amidst the chaos, you will be greeted with an optional objective to collect multiple sigils hidden in the Desecrated Fortress. I would suggest finding the sigils as you progress through the city; they are hidden in blue crystals and side paths (white flags on the map).
They will be helpful in the latter part of this Biome.
Locate Means to Cross The Chasm

The path to the city ahead is completely blocked. To progress further, use the Eclipse pedestal near you and then wait for it to begin. During the eclipse, pick up the golden item before you to find an Eclipse Thread, which allows Arjun to travel long distances in a snap. It is a useful feature considering how vast the city is, and you can use it in the previous biomes to further explore them.

See a golden thread ahead? Press L1 near it to ride it and reach the other end of the bottomless pit. If you’re looking for a challenge, turn left from there to find a Nightmare Strand, which will replenish your Second Chance ability if survived.
Enter The Spire

With the Eclipse Thread in hand, traversal will become easy; it does require the threads to appear first, so it’s unusable everywhere else. Use the thread before you to climb up the wall, and turn left to find the third Power Weapon: Nova Lance.
Nova Lance charges up first and then shoots a contained projectile that can ricochet off walls and delivers staggering damage to the target. Return to the intersection and turn right to continue the main objective. The path to the spire is extremely challenging, as you will find numerous fire clusters falling from the sky.

Stay away from the clusters to avoid damage. Continue through the main path, and after collecting numerous items and surviving solar cages, you will reach a mini-boss called Aurelia. Defeat the mini-boss, and ahead you will find the Spire.
Ascend

Remember the optional sigils you were collecting? Now it’s time to put them into use. In the Spire, drop down in the middle and use the sigils to open the doors ahead. Each door requires one sigil to be opened, and behind it, you will find numerous rewards.

When that’s done, return to the hallway and move ahead to find an elevator that’ll take you upwards. And there, use the Eclipse Thread, Grapple Hook, and flowing platforms to reach the top of this Fortress. Walk a few steps to find another elevator, then use it to reach the boss of this biome, the flying beast: Architect.
Architect Boss Fight

Architect is an extremely aggressive and powerful boss that circles the skies. With three phases and a tanky health bar, this fight will take longer than any other bosses you have encountered so far.
In the first phase, Architect remains mobile and circles the arena. Make sure to keep a distance from its attack, and step back if you see it approaching the arena. It mostly relies on Nova projectiles, which it can shoot from its mouth. Parry them to make some space in the arena, and then keep moving and shooting Architect until its first health bar depletes.
Second Phase

As soon as Architect’s first health bar depletes, it will dive onto the arena to break it in half. Its attacks get faster, and the area to dodge is much smaller now. Still, keep moving and dodge them all, and always parry the Nova projectiles on the ground to make space.
The second phase also introduces an additional attack. Architect will fly away and sit on a tower outside the arena, right under the eclipsed sun. From there, it will throw five projectiles that send shockwaves and corrupted bullets across the entire arena.

You can shoot the projectiles before they fall, and then focus on Architect as it continues attacking.
Third Phase

In the final phase, Architect will stomp the arena numerous times, but it won’t break. Instead, it spawns multiple blue bullets that you can absorb with your shield. While most of the attacks remain the same, it will suddenly start hanging on the arena’s edges and shoot Nova projectiles; jump over them.
Keep running, shooting, and avoiding the bullets to ultimately defeat it. When it falls, Arjun’s suit reveals that someone from Echelon I is in The Passage; it’s Nitya. When Arjun tries to talk to her, she destroys the portal between Carcosa and Earth and tells Arjun to stay away from her.
Enemies of Desecrated Fortress – Aurelia

Aurelia is the only new enemy of Desecrated Fortress, and it serves as a mini-boss during encounters/Solar Cages. It looks similar to Promise, but isn’t upside down and is bigger in height.
