Manor Bedroom

Chapter 4 begins with you waking up in the Manor. Your phone will buzz. It’s Kaneeka and she is looking for Stella. You have the options to call or text Stella.

Neither will yield a result. Tell Kaneeka you haven’t heard from Stella as well. She will ask you to meet up in town and help look for Stella. If you take a shower, you will have 4 choices. Choose about what you want to think about. If you check the closet, you will realize someone was in there and has moved the doll. You can visit the possums in the drawers, they will be eating bread now but without TALK TO ANIMALS, it’s quite pointless. If you do have the skill, Dustin informs you of a new resident in the greenhouse. Head downstairs.

Kitchen

You will find Tabitha in the kitchen. She will tell you of a strike in the mines.

You can talk to her about the strike and about what happened last night in the Annex. Depending on what you did on Wednesday, Tabitha might leave you a note instead of showing up in person. That switch changes things a bit and opens up the option to search the garden and greenhouse.

You can also talk to Frou-Frou if you have Talk to Animals.

Path to Town

If you included Avery in the ghost hunt, you’ll run into them on your way to town, heading up the hill to meet you. You have a short conversation here, and if you want, you can move Avery’s romance forward.

From there, you can choose to invite Avery along to help you find Stella, or go on your own.

The Town

You’ll run into Kaneeka in town, and that’s when you decide where to start looking for Stella. Each location plays out as its own little investigation.

Your search options are:

  • Stella’s house
  • Contacting the police
  • Oscar’s house, though which house that actually is depends on what you did in the last episode.
  • The diner
  • The mines
  • The church
  • You can choose to ditch Avery here as well.
  • Tea with Sybil

If you gave up years of your life in Episode 3, there’s a limit to how much ground you can cover. You won’t be able to visit all six locations. Only four are available to you, or five if you have Strong. After that, you’ll pass out and wake up in the Tea Room.

Stella’s House

Once you get there, the door will be unlocked. After a short conversation, head in. Investigate the Kitchen and the bedroom. The kitchen is in a mess which means someone was in there. Could be Stella, could be someone else. In her room you can check her computer, BOOKSMART is handy here.

Check her tabs and her history to find out how no one on the Cryptid forums believes her and that she hasn’t used the computer since Tuesday night. Head to the police station next.

Police Station

You will find Duke and his boy in there, lodging a complaint. You can follow through on Stella, Duke’s Pumpkin and his feud with Julius.

This wont lead to anything conclusive except the lore dump about Duke and Julius’ feud.

Oscar’s House

The house you visit depends on what happened earlier. It will either be the City Hall and Library house or the place Tabitha offered you, the old Maxwell house. You can only revisit the basement from Episode 3 if Oscar and Rosalina are set up in the City Hall and Library location.

Who shows up there also depends on your mine choices in Episode 2. Rosalina and/or Oscar can be present, and Becka will be there too if you saved her. Dr. Kelly only appears if Rosalina was injured. Avery and or Kaneeka will also be around if they are currently traveling with you.

There is not much solid information to gather since no one has actually seen Stella. Oscar does offer to help by digging into any additional seals or strange occurrences tied to what is going on.

Dr. Kelly also becomes romanceable here, but only if you sacrificed years of your life in Episode 3.

If Oscar and Rosalina are not at the house behind City Hall and the Library, you will instead get a scene before leaving town. Pixel is being threatened by a Ditchling, but Scraps, the former mayor, has rallied several other dogs into what is basically a dog militia to hunt the creatures down. After that, you bring Pixel along with you to meet Oscar and Rosalina. If you have Talk to Animals, you can ask the dogs for help locating Gretchen and or Stella, especially if Gretchen died back in Episode 1.

The Diner

All the mine workers are here. You can advise them on the strike situation as you see fit. But none of them have seen Stella.

The Mines

You will find three miners block the entrance to the mines. They haven’t seen Stella. If you want to see Tabitha, you need to have POWERFUL BUILD.

If you have bonded with Tabitha she will be nice to you and discuss about having icecream. Otherwise she will shake you down and take her frustrations out on you.

Once you are done here, the final location is the Church.

The Church

Zane will show up once you get to the church. Pastor Daniel will want to talk to you in private. Kaneeka and Avery will go off to talk to Janey and the Alpacas. The Pastor will ask you if you think he is creepy. I did. You will be interrupted by his daughter, Tulip showing up. The pastor will tell you about Tulip’s imaginary friends and the Trash Lake Stella told you about in Chapter 1.

You can see Wayne on the right side of the church. Leave the church as no one here has seen Stella.

General Store

On my playthrough, both Avery and Kaneeka accompanied me to Sybil’s house. Sybil got rid of both of them. Also, in my playthrough, I have never drunk tea in Scarlet Hollow, and so I can actually refuse to have tea with Sybil in the Tea Room. There is a strong implication that drinking any tea while in Scarlet Hollow makes it harder to resist her influence. It can lock you into certain interactions with her and even block off information at different points in the story. In some cases, you may not even be able to stop your character from attending the tea reading.

If you leave now, you will head to the clinic. So skip the next bit and head to the clinic bit that follows. If you have tea in the tea room, you will notice that there’s castor bean in the room with BOOKSMART. In the discussion, do not sip on the tea till you have exhausted every exploration option.

She needs you to drink the tea for a tea leaves reading before she can tell you more. You can refuse the tea and walk away, but only if you have not had any tea at all while in Scarlet Hollow. This also gives you the option to stop by Kaneeka’s room and pursue a romance if you so choose. You can also ask her to join you in going to the clinic. She refuses and so you are on your own.

If you do drink it, Sybil basically warns you that things are about to get much worse, and soon. She says someone close to you is actually an enemy, describing them as a cat waiting to pounce. As usual, Sybil talks in circles. Once that conversation wraps up, you head to Reese’s place to investigate the next seal.

Reese’s House

Outside of Reese’s House, you have two options.

Knocking on the window doesn’t work. So use the other option – note you might have different options based on your build. POWERFUL BUILD allows you to get in through the terrace.

Morgue

Once you turn the lights on you will find Reese sleeping on the autopsy table. Tell Reese about the stone carving behind the wall.

He will agree to distract the doctor. Pretty soon Doctor Kelly will be gone. Reese doesn’t know where the axe is so we need to look for it.

Doctor’s Office

The axe isn’t here but your family’s medical records are. A lot of names and a huge lore dump in some sense.

Medical Supply Room

The axe is here but it is locked. Before even looking for the key, Doctor Kelly returns. You and Reese have to hide now. Once she leaves you will notice that there are castor beans on the coutner with BOOKSMART. The same one’s that were in Sybil’s tea room but the in game you can’t remember that in game if you have drank the tea earlier.

You can tell Reese that castor beans are used to make poison if you want now. He will open the drawer and find a medical journal related to his illness.

Morgue

Back at the morgue again. You will use the axe to blow a hole in the wall.

Hospital Wing

An abandoned hospital wing lies behind the drywall. Nothing to do here but find the seal and pass out.

Reese’s Room

You wake up in Reese’s room. After telling him about the seal, he will tell you that he has stopped taking his medicine. After a lot of rationalizing, you can either flirt with Reese or watch a movie. Reese will act strangely throughout the movie till Wayne shows up at the window. This will lead you to see Reese’s transformation. You will have two options now.

If you run for the stairs you can save Dr Kelly but you need POWERFUL BUILD for it to show up. Staying where you are will lead to Dr Kelly dying. If you run up, Reese will follow you upstairs. You now have to have decide on a path – either save Dr Kelly or let Reese have his revenge. The additional options are to call Tabitha.

In this run I chose to warn Dr Kelly. She will eventually show up with a gun. If you have POWERFUL BUILD you can roll out of the way.

Wayne will show up at the top of the stairs. POWERFUL BUILD will give you the option to go grab the axe. Dr Kelly will call in over the intercom. She will ask you to head to the medical storage room. Reese will show up once you get there to pick up the elephant tranquilizers. After a short conversation, Wayne will show up again and take Reese away. You can either grab the tranquilizers or choose to help Wayne or Reese. I picked up the tranqs and decided to help Wayne fight Reese. Eventually you will end up with Dr Reese in her safe room.

During this conversation she will tell you that Sybil gave her the poison, but you will flash it out if you drank the tea. Eventually the choice will come down to you, if you give the doctor the tranquilizers – she will sedate Reese and continue treating him and if you don’t Reese will kill her and escape to the forest.

I sided with the doctor.

Alternate Options –

If you choose to call Tabitha from the basement, she’ll actually show up at the clinic to pull you out of the mess. Tabitha doesn’t exactly come in calmly either. She rolls up with a loaded shotgun and straight-up finishes Reese herself… unless you step in and help Dr. Kelly. After that, Reese’s body gets burned outside. If you did step in to save Reese, though, he’s locked away in the clinic’s safe room instead.

If you have the HOT trait, you have another option: free Reese and make sure Dr. Kelly survives. Reese escapes into the woods in his transformed state. It also officially kicks off your romance with him, this is the point of no return on that path.

You then end up going back to the Manor.

Path to the Manor

Gretchen will show up (if she survived in chapter 1 of your playthrough). If you follow Gretchen you will find Stella. If Tabitha’s with you, she’ll piece together where Stella might be. Otherwise, Stella might actually call you herself and tell you, her location. Regardless you will find her in the spot where her parents died.

If you want to romance Stella, this is the moment it shifts. I was on a Stella romance playthrough so my choices reflected that. I also told her about the day. She finally asked me to walk her home.

Stella’s House

Eventually she asked me to come in.

Once she steps into the shower, Wayne shows up. He will tell you look at the Manor more closely tomorrow.

Stepping back in will end the night with Stella.

This concludes the walkthrough for Chapter 4 of Scarlet Hollow.
