Welcome to Part 1 of our walkthrough for Shinobi: Art of Vengeance. This walkthrough will cover the first area, Oboro Village, along with all the collectibles you need to find to achieve 100% completion.

Some collectibles require Ningi abilities that you’ll unlock later on. You can return to these locations from the world map once you have them.
Musashi’s House
After the opening cutscene, start heading right.
Tomoe will meet you up ahead. After the brief conversation, continue moving forward.
You’ll have to jump over some obstacles.
Up ahead, you’ll find a training dummy. Use it to try out your katana strikes. When ready, continue moving east.
Eventually, you’ll run into Tomoe again, but this time she’s preparing to fight against an enemy ninja. A few choppers will fly above your head, and you’ll see bombs dropping in the background. The village is under attack!
Defeat the enemies once Tomoe disappears. Continue heading right to the next section.
Bamboo Forest
As you enter the Bamboo Forest, you’ll notice a group of enemy ninjas spawn ahead of you. Run to the Shrine to save your game and heal up. The Shrine also acts as a fast travel point in the game.
Continue moving to the right side of the screen and defeat the enemies that appear ahead.
You’ll soon be ambushed by some yellow-robed ninjas. They have a bit more health, but they’re still just basic enemies. This section of the game will teach you how to dodge roll.
You’ll find two breakable chests on a platform up ahead. One of them restores your health, and the other refills your Kunai.
Keep moving forward, defeating enemies as you go. You’ll find a few more chests that you can break for Gold, Health, or Kunai.
Eventually, you’ll get ambushed again and must defeat a group of enemies that spawn around you.
After eliminating the enemies, continue moving and break the large chest on the platform for Gold.
Shortly after this, you’ll find Tomoe standing before three enemy ninjas. This is the tutorial for Shinobi Execution.
Follow the tutorial to dispatch the three enemies at once.
Some more enemies will spawn afterward. Eliminate them and move on to the next section.
The Village
As you keep running, the screen will go white. Keep running and you’ll eventually reach the Oboro Village Shrine.
Head right and jump up on the roof to move forward. Drop down once you get past the fire to find a small chest.
Continue moving forward to encounter a few more enemies.
You’ll find a large chest that you can access by dropping down from a platform in a burning house. This will give you some Gold.
Keep moving right and you’ll eventually find a special chest. Break it open to get the Fire Ninpo.
A few enemies will spawn in the area. Defeat them and continue moving forward.
You’ll reach a tower. Use the platforms to get above it.
Drop down to the other side and a few more enemies will spawn. Defeat them and continue moving to spot another tower up ahead.
Oboro Relic #1 (Requires Sword Dive)
Climb up the wooden tower using the platforms. You’ll spot a large chest below a glowing floor. This is called a Yokai barrier and to break it you need the Sword Dive Ningi.
When you get the ability, return to this spot and break through the barrier to loot the chest. You’ll find a the first Oboro Relic for Oboro Village in this chest. It’s one of the collectibles required for 100% completion of a zone.
Continue moving right using the platforms and you’ll reach the Village Ruins Shrine.
Village Ruins
As you take a couple of steps past the Shrine, a small cutscene will play. You’ll encounter your first boss fight, the Ghost Samurai.
The Ghost Samurai isn’t a particularly difficult fight, but he has a Dark Attack. Dark Attacks aren’t dodgeable and can’t be interrupted, so make sure you move out of the way as soon as you see a purple aura on the boss.
After defeating the boss, continue moving right and you’ll reach the Dojo.
The Dojo
You’ll see the Shrine as soon as you enter The Dojo. Heal up and continue moving forward.
There will be a tutorial for Ninja Flip up ahead. Defeat the enemies as you make your way through the section. You’ll also get a tutorial for wall run and wall jump.
Eventually, you’ll drop down into a large chamber with a dragon statue in the background. At this point, you’ll be ambushed by a group of enemies.
Defeat them to unlock the gate on the bottom-right side of the room.
Go through the door and use wall jumps to climb up until you reach the next section.
Antechamber
After the short cutscene, run into the room and touch the Shrine.
Use wall run to climb up the wall above the gate and head to the upper part of the room.
Then double jump and air dash to the left to reach a switch on the other side. This will open the locked gate beside the Shrine.
Elite Squads #1 (Requires Cannon Punch)
You’ll spot another Yokai Barrier beside the switch. To break this one, you’ll need the Cannon Punch. There’s an Elite Squads encounter behind this barrier, which is one of the required collectibles for 100% completion.
When you get the Cannon Punch Ningi, return to this location and break the barrier. You’ll find the symbol for Elite Squads inside. Defeat the waves of enemies to get this collectible.
Go down and head through the open gate to the next section.
You’ll arrive in a large area with a mix of enemies. Stay on the lower section for now and defeat the enemies.
Oboro Relic #2
Head straight to the right and you’ll enter a passage. Break the small chest and defeat the ninja enemy up ahead.
Go down to face a yellow-robed ninja and a healer. Defeat them and break the large chest for the second Oboro Relic in this area.
Return to the main room and use the platforms to climb up. You’ll notice a box blocking a passage to the right. This is a shortcut that you can unlock from another area. Ignore it for now and continue climbing up, sticking to the right side of the room.
You’ll spot a locked gate on the right. This is where you’ll have to go.
Use wall jump to climb to the top of the room.
Jump to the left platform. Use dodge roll to pass under the clearance and defeat the two enemies ahead.
Jump to the left platform and you’ll find a switch. Attack it to open the locked gate from earlier.
Drop down to the left of the platform to find another large chest. Break it for some Gold.
Now make your way to the open gate and go through the passage. Continue moving forward and you’ll reach the Attic.
The Attic
You’ll arrive in a burning room with platforms hanging on chains. Jump to the platform on the right and you’ll face a yellow-robed ninja up ahead.
Ankou Rift (Requires Sword Dive)
After defeating the ninja, jump down to the lower platform. You’ll notice a Yokai Barrier below. Use Sword Dive to break through.
This will take you to the Ankou Rift for this area. This is a major collectible required for 100% competion, but it only becomes available once you meet the Grim Reaper.
Interact with the Ankou Rift and complete the parkour challenge to collect a Dark Katana fragment.
Oboro Relic #3 (Requires Sword Dive)
After completing the Ankou Rift, run up the wall on the left.
You’ll come across three large chests. The middle one contains the next Oboro Relic for this chapter.
Continue down the passage, and you’ll eventually have to push a box to return to the Antechamber area.
Head back to the platform where you fought the yellow-robed ninja and continue heading right. You’ll see a locked gate on the far side of the room.
Jump to the platform above, and use wall run and wall jump to reach another floating platform with a small chest.
There’s another enemy on the left that you’ll need to defeat.
You’ll spot some gold rings hanging on the left. Grab the rings to swing across to the platform on that side.
Two enemies will be firing shuriken and bullets at you from the left. Take them out first.
Jump back afterward to your earlier platform and go up. You’ll reach The Attic Shrine.
Secret Chest #1 – Kunai Burst Ninpo (Requires Ninja Claws)
The room on the left leads to a parkour section and the first of the two Secret Chests in this area. But to get it, you’ll need to unlock Ninja Claws.
The Secret Chest in this room contains the Kunai Burst Ninpo.
Secret Chest #2 – Max Kunai Boost (Requires Sword Dive)
Go right from the Shrine, and you’ll spot another Yokai Barrier on the ground. Break through using the Sword Dive Ningi to find a Max Kunai Boost.
Continue heading right, and you’ll eventually find a switch. Strike it to unlock the door to the right of the room.
Drop down from the right side, and you’ll find yourself right infront of the now-unlocked gate. Head through to the next section.
In the next area, you’ll see a chest up ahead on the bridge. Inside it, you’ll find your first Ninjutsu skill, Karyu. Use it, and the bridge will break as you burn all the enemies and drop down to the next area.
The Collapsed Bridge
You will drop straight down and activate the Shrine for Collapsed Bridge once you reach the bottom. The left path leads to a tunnel with another collectible. However, you’ll need both the Ninja Claws and the Ninja Hook to reach it.
Elite Squads #2 (Requires Ninja Hook and Ninja Claws)
Continue along the passage and you’ll eventually reach a grapple point. This leads to a parkour segment where you’ll use dash points to zip across the map.
At the end of the segment, you’ll find the symbol for the second Elite Squades encounter in this zone. Completing both encounters will reward you with the Kunai Killer Amulet.
From the Collapsed Bridge Shrine, continue heading right.
In the next section, you’ll be immediately ambushed by a group of enemies.
Take them down and continue climbing vertically through the room. You’ll run into a switch along the way. Attack it to open a door on the left.
Use the golden hooks to reach a platform in the middle of the area. You’ll find a large chest containing gold.
Return to the earlier platform and keep heading up.
You’ll reach a large chamber with a burning pot in the background. Jump up the ledges on the right side to trigger a cutscene.
The cutscene shows you the location of the switch that unlocks the gate on the right.
Make your way to the upper level using the ledges and gold rings. Defeat the enemies along the way.
Oboro Relic #4
As you get to the left side of the room, drop down to find a large chest. Break it open to collect the next Oboro Relic for this level.
Activate the switch once you reach the top of the room to open the gate. You’ll be ambushed by another wave of enemies immediately afterward.
Take them down and head through the open gate.
Oboro Relic #5
Continue moving right in the next section and you’ll eventually find another chest. This contains the final Oboro Relic for this chapter.
Shortly after collecting the chest, you’ll meet the Shopkeeper. You can spend your gold here to purchase upgrades for Joe Musashi. You can also expand the Shopkeeper’s inventory by giving him Oboro Relics.
Jump on the zipline after the Shopkeeper to reach the next area.
Snowy Glade
You’ll land right in front of the Snowy Glade Shrine as you reach the bottom of the zipline.
Let the cutscene play out.
After it ends, you’ll face your first main boss.
Kozaru isn’t like the Ghost Samurai you fought earlier. He has a huge health pool and deals heavy damage.
Watch out for his Dark Attack as well, since it can’t be interrupted and deals a lot of damage.
The stage will clear once you defeat the boss.
The Chase
The Chase is a connecting stage where Joe Musashi rides a large wolf and runs across a field defeating enemy ninjas. It’s a straightforward chapter and completing it rewards you with a Max Kunai Boost upgrade.
