Welcome to the fourth part of our walkthrough for Solateria.
We’ve made it through the Terradin Greenhouse and got past the Guardian of Pyron to arrive at the entrance of Ashen Hills. The Ashen Library is nearby, but there’s a lot to go through before we can reach it.

Unlocking the Library Path Altar

Ashen Hills is a massive zone, bigger than all the other areas we’ve explored till this point. The first thing we’re going to do is make our way to the Ashen Library at the top left section of the zone.
Continue heading right, and you’ll encounter a Doodoo. These enemies have a dash attack, which you can parry for a counterattack.

Take it down and continue forward. Use the mushroom pad to go up. There will be another Doodoo up ahead.

Go up the slope after the enemy. There’s a path heading up, but for now, go left.

You’ll find another mushroom pad all the way to the left that you can use to jump up to the upper floor.

Go right and jump up through the opening at the top to reach the next section.

Head left up the slope, then climb the second slope heading right.

You’ll encounter a Firebird up ahead. They have a two-step attack where they swoop down and do a tail whip. You can parry both attacks to set up a counter. Follow this path to reach a dead end.

Backtrack down the slope and take the left path this time. You’ll have to fight through some more monsters. Keep pressing on, and you’ll reach an Item Chest on the other side of a blue crystal wall. But this is also a dead end.

Run back all the way to the start of the zone and climb the second slope on the right this time to reach the next section.

Drop down and move forward to find a Stone Tablet. Interact with it and continue heading right.

Jump to the upper floor to encounter an Ember Cry. These are the toughest enemies in this zone, with a lot of health and three Resistance bars. But you can parry all of their attacks.

The main path continues up the slope to the right. But first go left to pick up a Premium Solin Fragment.

Continue along the right-side path next to find an exit at the top.

Keep ascending through the next section. There are some enemies here, but the path is relatively straightforward. You’ll go through another opening at the top.

In the next section, you can either go left or right, but both will lead you to the same place.

Take out the enemies and keep heading up till you see Cor standing up ahead. Run through his dialogue. Then run past him to the next section.

Go left and drop down to the lower part of the area. You’ll find the Library Path Altar on your right.
The Plagueforge Secret Society of Pyron

From the Altar, continue moving left, while sticking to the lower path. You’ll face some more monsters up ahead.

Continue moving forward, ascending through the zone, and you’ll find an opening at the top left part of the area.

In the next section, start heading right. You’ll see a path heading up. Keep going right until you reach the next section.

You’ll see a Chasa Statue up ahead.

Keep going right, past a Firebird, to spot a mushroom pad. Use it to go up.

You’ll see another Firebird as you keep ascending. There’s a second path that you can reach by jumping to the right. That is the path to the Ashen Library.

For now, however, we’ll stick to the left path, past the Firebird. Jump across the gap and air dash to reach the platform on the left.

Keep going left. You’ll see a breakable floor. Fight off the Doodoos and continue pushing forward.

You’ll eventually reach a house. Head inside.

Pick up the Unnamed Memory Fragment and go all the way to the right to find the Secret Society Stone for the Pyron region.
Reaching the Ashen Library

Return to the area before you jumped across the gap, and jump to the right to where the Lava Slimes are.

You’ll be ambushed by an Ember Cry from the right. Take it down.

Follow the path to the left, and you’ll spot an exit heading up.

As soon as you go through the opening, you’ll see a red barrier on your left.

Go right and clear out the room of all the monsters.

Use the lever at the top floor of the section and drop back down. The lever will deactivate the red barrier, and you can pass through.

Continue pushing forward, while ascending and taking down the monsters until you reach the next section.

Go left, and you’ll reach a large gate. This is the entrance of the Ashen Library.

Before you head in, go left for a King’s Statue. Activate it to unlock the Defense Core Stone. When you’re ready, go inside the Ashen Library.
Exploring the Ashen Library

We’ve already been to the Ashen Library before via the Earth Port Warmth Tunnel. But this time, we can explore a lot more of the area since we entered through the front gate. There’s a new merchant here named Pwoong that sells plenty of useful Parts.

There’s also a merchant named Leafa who will cook your food if you bring the right ingredients.

When you enter, Verita will ask you to come to the upper-level office. Use the platform above Pwoong’s shop to head up.

You’ll find a Donation Box on the upper level. You can donate up to 10,000 OHN for a nameplate. This is a reward that you’ll need to enter the Donor’s Room on the upper floor.

Interact with the statue by the Donation Box to find Chasa’s Nameplate, one of the five Nameplates you’ll need to unlock the Donor’s Room.

On the top floor of the library, you’ll find an elevator. Get on it to reach the upper level.

There’s an Altar here that you can activate. Go right to find Verita waiting for you.

Run through her dialogue. From this point, she will enhance your Heat Core which lets you use more Flame abilities. She’ll also unlock the back gate to the library and ask you to head through to the Pyron Training Grounds and find Chasa.

After the conversation, go right first to pick up an Unnamed Memory Fragment.

Drop through the hole on the right. Go right to find Virtus’s Nameplate.

After picking up the nameplate, go left to find a blue crystal wall.

Break it and head through to find a King’s Statue. This unlocks the Residual Heat Core Stone.

Go to the left section of the Ashen Library and take the back exit.

Once outside, keep heading left and jump down.

You’ll find the Pyron Training Grounds Altar at the bottom of the chasm. Activate it.

Head right to find Chasa waiting for you. Talk to him. He’ll ask you to Spar with him.
How to Beat Chasa

The fight against Chasa isn’t too difficult. But it does require a decent understanding of parry and block to win.

Chasa has two different sword attacks, and in both cases, he teleports quickly towards you before swinging his sword. You’ll want to figure out the timing of these two attacks as they give you the best opportunity to parry.

Chasa also has a long-range attack where he sends out a shockwave from his sword from one edge of the screen. This can be parried, but it doesn’t reduce his Resistance.

When you see Chasa sink his sword into the ground, you’ll want to focus on dodging and blocking. He will summon a shadow that does three hits in total. You can parry the attacks, but they won’t affect his resistance.

After defeating Chasa, he’ll give you the Double Jump ability as a reward.

Go right and use the double jump to reach the upper platform. Pick up the item and continue right to reach the next section.

Loot the Item Chest for an Empty Warmhorn Shell. Then, break the blue crystal wall to connect to the rest of the Ashen Hills zone.
Make your way back to the Ceramic Path Altar. We’re going to explore the lower part of the zone next.
Lower Section of Ashen Hills

From the Ceramic Path Altar, continue heading right and take the lower path this time after the first Doodoo enemy.

Head down through the platform up ahead and go left first. There will be some more enemies you have to fight as you progress. At the far left edge, you’ll find an opening that you can fall through.

Keep heading left in the next section.

You’ll drop down to an area with a mushroom pad and a Firebird. Take out the Firebird and go right.

Drop down again and go left past the Doodoo.

Fall through the opening to the next section.

This takes you to a relatively empty area. If you continue along this path, you’ll face the Pyron Commander. This is an optional boss, but you can pick up a decent Part if you beat him.
How to Beat the Pyron Commander

Pyron Commander can be a very annoying enemy because of his ability to heal and regain his Resistances. His basic attacks are pretty easy to read, and you’ll get plenty of time to react to them. In most cases, he’ll attack you with one or two-strike combos.

The biggest thing to watch for is when he raises his arm to create a shield. When this happens, don’t attack the shield as it will regenerate his health.

The boss also has a grab attack that you have to dodge. If he manages to grab you, he’ll heal up a decent chunk of his HP, extending the fight.

Keep some distance from the boss and wait for him to attack. Focus on parrying his blows and bringing down his Resistances, and you should be able to beat him without any problem.

After defeating the boss, go to the platform on the left and loot the Item Chest for the Commander’s Treasure Warmhorn Part.
Heading for the Pyron Village

With Pyron Commander defeated, there’s not much else to do here. Exit the area the way you came and keep walking back till you reach a mushroom pad.
The upper path leads back to the Altar. So we’re going to follow the lower path to the right. There’s an opening up ahead that takes you to the next section.

Take out the Doodoo up ahead and head right. The lower part of this area has some items and an Ember Cry you can fight. But there’s nothing essential here.
Stick to the upper part and keep heading right.

You’ll eventually reach a mushroom pad. Use it to gain height and reach the top platform. Head right to exit this area.

Use the double jump to get across the gap to the right side.

Keep going right. You’ll see a path heading down. This leads to the Water Mirror Basin. Don’t go down yet. Continue heading right instead.

This path will eventually take you to the next Altar as you enter the Pyron Village.
Exploring Pyron Village

Pyron Village is a small connecting area that leads to three different places: Water Mirror Basin, Faded Castle, and Windshade Spire later on.
Before you do anything else, backtrack to where you saw the hole on the ground earlier and drop through to enter Water Mirror Basin.

Go left and use a charged attack to burn the vines holding the boulder on your left. Drop through the hole as the boulder falls.

You’ll find an Item Chest at the bottom. This contains the Flaming Tip Part. You can now continue exploring Water Mirror Basin if you want, but we want to wrap up Ashen Hills before we do that.

Make your way back up to the Altar through the zone. You’ll have to fight some enemies along the way, but they shouldn’t be too difficult.

From the Pyron Village Altar, continue heading right. You’ll be able to interact with a signpost as you enter the village.

Just past it, you’ll see a lower path heading right. This leads to Faded Castle, but we’ll tackle that zone after Water Mirror Basin. However, there are two Unnamed Memory Fragments along the path that you can quickly pick up right now.

From the signpost, continue heading right, past the enemies, and make your way up through the building.

You’ll find an exit at the top left part of the area.

As you enter the next section, you’ll see an Item Chest on the other side of a blue crystal wall above. Go left.

Use the mushroom pad to launch yourself upward and go right.

You’ll see a slope heading up. Go right first.

The floor will break, and you’ll be thrown into a gauntlet. Take out the enemies.

Once the enemies are dealt with, go left to find the Item Chest you saw earlier. This contains a Heat Core. You can take it to Verita in Verita’s Office to enhance your Heat Core and unlock new abilities.

Break the wall on your left to return to the room’s entrance. Continue heading up through the area and take the exit at the top.

This brings you to a large area filled with enemies. Continue making your way forward.

At the top left part of the zone, you’ll find a Haechi Statue.

Take the exit at the top, near the right side of the area, to reach the next section.

This leads you to an empty room. Use the two platforms to climb up and head right.

You’ll see a signpost up ahead. Interact with it. We’re done with this zone for now. You can head to Water Mirror Basin or Faded Castle next.
