solateria walkthrough

Welcome to part 5 of our walkthrough for Solateria.

We’ve made it to the Ashen Library and explored much of Ashen Hills. But before we head toward the Faded Castle, we’re going to take a step back and take some time exploring the Water Mirror Basin.

Note
This is part of our Solateria Walkthrough Hub, so we suggest starting there if you haven’t already.

Unlocking the Barren Land Altar

solateria walkthrough

From the Pyron Village Altar, fast travel to the Terradin Greenhouse Entryway. This time, we’ll head along the lower path to enter the Water Mirror Basin via the west entrance. Make your way to the area marked on the map above.

solateria walkthrough

Follow the path on the lower-right across the river to reach the Water Mirror Basin. We’ve already covered this zone when we were picking up the Quick Drop ability.

solateria walkthrough

Take down the enemy as you go down the ramp. You’ll find the Water Mirror Basin Border Stone here that you can read.

solateria walkthrough

You can use double jump and an air attack to reach the ledge on the right. You’ll find an Unnamed Memory Fragment here.

solateria walkthrough

Continue left and drop down to the lower path. There are two more enemies here. Take them down and head right to spot a boulder. Burn the vines using your charged attack to open the path. Drop down.

Keep going right to reach the next room.

Go up first as soon as you enter the next room. Make your way past some enemies, and you’ll find a Firm Solin Fragment on a ledge at the top.

solateria walkthrough

Drop down on the right. There’s a Sowoo Statue here that you can inspect. Take down the enemies in the area. Head past it to the right to reach the next room.

Descend to the right along the ramp. Take down the enemy here and drop down to the lower platform.

solateria walkthrough

Jump across the gap to the left platform. There are two more enemies here. Take them down. Use the elevator on the left to get to the bottom floor.

solateria walkthrough

From here, you can either go right or down. The path on the right leads to an Altar. We’ll unlock it first, then explore the western section of the zone.

solateria walkthrough

But before you move on, take the lower path for a bit. You’ll reach a King’s Relievo statue in the forest. Head left and burn the vines to drop the boulder and open the path below.

solateria walkthrough

Return to the upper path from before and go right to enter the next room. This area has a lot of enemies. Take them down and keep heading right.

solateria walkthrough

You’ll eventually run into Cor. Talk to him and run through his dialogue.

solateria walkthrough

There’s a chasm past Cor. Jump down.

solateria walkthrough

This will take you to a new section of Water Mirror Basin. Go right to find the Barren Land Altar and an NPC nearby.

Talk to the NPC (Myoso) on the right and run through her dialogue.

Exploring the Water Mirror Basin Western Half

solateria walkthrough

From the Barren Land Altar, we’ll head left first. You’ll climb up a few ledges to reach a platform with an enemy. Take it down and continue left.

solateria walkthrough

You’ll have to fight past a few more enemies as you keep ascending to the left.

In the upper section, you’ll notice a wooden scaffolding leading upward. This connects back to the area just before where we found Cor. Head left from here.

Continue heading left past the enemies. You’ll eventually go down a slope and drop down to the lower section.

solateria walkthrough

Fight past two enemies up ahead and head left till you reach a gap. Look down to see a wooden platform directly below you. Drop down to the platform and head right.

solateria walkthrough

You’ll be able to pick up an Unnamed Memory Fragment on a ledge on the right. Picking it up will also add Soowoo’s Location Info on your map.

solateria walkthrough

Return to the main path and head left to fight a tough enemy. Burn the vines on the left once they’re down.

Drop down to the lower section, and you’ll be able to burn another vine wall below.

solateria walkthrough

This opens the path to the lower section of the waterfall in the Water Mirror Basin. All you have to do is keep heading left, and you’ll reach the area shown in the image above. This is an important place that we’ll have to come back to later. For now, you can teleport back to the Ashen Library.

solateria walkthrough

While you’re back at Ashen Library, you can talk to Verita to Enhance Heat Core and unlock the Hyper Pyron Action.

Water Mirror Basin Secret Society & Warmth Tunnel

Fast travel back to the Terradin Greenhouse Entryway Altar and make your way to the King’s Relievo statue you saw in the forest. We’ve marked the location in the above image.

solateria walkthrough

Head left and drop down through the gap you created earlier.

solateria walkthrough

Descend through the section while hugging the right side, past some enemies.

solateria walkthrough

You’ll spot a mushroom jump pad halfway through the area on the right. This will let you reach an item on a ledge, but you’ll have to unlock an ability for it. Go left and burn the vines to open the path to the lower part of Water Mirror Basin, but don’t go down.

solateria walkthrough

Instead, continue going left and down a ramp to reach the next room.

solateria walkthrough

Jump to the flower floating on the water to bounce up to the platform above you.

solateria walkthrough

Go up and right till you spot a crystal wall on your right. There’s a chest on the other side of the wall.

solateria walkthrough

Continue up the slope on the left. After taking down an enemy at the top, you’ll see a wooden platform above you. There’s also a flower on the water on your left.

solateria walkthrough

There’s a hidden area on the left that has a Plague Sprout. But you can’t reach it yet. So use the flower to get to the upper platform. Take out the enemy hurling spears at you from above and head right.

The ground will break up ahead, and you’ll drop down to a gauntlet.

solateria walkthrough

Go left after defeating the enemies to find the chest you saw earlier. Loot it for the Brilliant Counterattack Part and break the crystal wall on the left.

Go back up and use the flower to jump up. This time, we’ll head left and up to reach the next section.

Continue moving left. There will be a few enemies up ahead.

Near the left exit, you’ll see a path heading up. But you can’t explore the area right now. So head through the left exit to the next room.

You’ll reach a gap. Jump to the platform on the left and continue moving forward along the path.

This will take you to an area where you’ll find the Secret Society Stone on the left and the Warmth Tunnel above you on the right.

When you’re ready, return to the Barren Land Altar. You can use the Warmth Tunnel to return to the Ashen Library and use the Altar to fast travel back.

Exploring the Central Water Mirror Basin

From the Barren Land Altar, head right. You’ll have to fight a couple of enemies up ahead.

There’s an elevator past the enemies. Step on the platform to go up.

You’ll see a path halfway along the elevator ride. If you follow this path, you’ll end up in Mucora Fortress, which is a late-game region. So we’ll leave it for later. Put a marker on your map or follow the path till you enter the new zone so that you remember it.

At the top of the elevator, you’ll have to fight a few more enemies.

Take them down and keep ascending. There’s only one path available so that you won’t get lost. Near the top, you’ll see a path heading right. We’ll go up first.

Defeat the first enemy and go all the way to the right to find a lever guarded by a tougher enemy. Take it down and use the lever to call an elevator.

As you’re heading up the elevator, you’ll see a Firm Solin Fragment sitting on a ledge on the left. There’s another platform on the right with a spear-hurling enemy on it.

Go all the way to the top and take down the enemy waiting for you above.

Jump onto the roof of the elevator to reach the platform above. Then go right to spot the top exit.

This takes you to an area where you’ll find Muha, the painter NPC. There’s a secret key you can find here, but we don’t need it right now. Put a marker for it on your map.

If you head right, you’ll reach another waterfall that you can’t cross.

Exploring the Water Mirror Basin Eastern Half

Return to the area where you saw an exit on the right. We’ve marked the location in the image above.

There are some enemies up ahead that you’ll have to take down.

As you go up a ramp, you’ll see a wooden platform above you to the left. Jump up to it and head left.

You can pick up an Unnamed Memory Fragment here.

Return to the slope from earlier and head right to encounter another elite enemy. Take it down.

If you check your map, you’ll see that there are two exits in front of you. The lower exit leads to the Mucora Fortress region, and we’re avoiding it for now.

Continue along the upper path and use the mushroom pad to jump up to the platform above. Take the exit on the right.

This will take you to a building-like structure similar to the ones you saw in Pyron Village. There are enemies on each floor. Take them down and continue heading up.

There’s an exit on the right, on the second level of the structure, that takes you to the Faded Castle. This is the next zone we’ll cover, but we’ll enter through the main gate.

Go all the way to the top floor of the structure and head left to spot the exit.

Continue heading left till you enter another house. After defeating a spear-hurling enemy and reaching the stairs, you’ll see an enemy below you.

If you drop down and continue all the way to the left, you’ll reach the other side of the waterfall where you saw Muha.

Continue heading up through the house using the stairs. There’s an elite on the top floor. Take it down and head right.

Jump across the gap and head right. Then climb up to the wooden platform above you. There will be some more enemies up ahead.

Get to the upper platform and jump up to the ledge on the right.

You’ll see an elevator up ahead. As you ride it up, you’ll see an item on a ledge. Drop down to pick it up. It’s a free Inflare.

Drop back down and use the lever to call the elevator. But before you go up, turn right and look down for another item. This one is a Firm Solin Lump.

Return to the elevator and ride it all the way to the top. Go left to spot an exit above you. This will take you to the section of the Water Mirror Basin that you accessed from the Pyron Village Altar. You can head up if you want to heal.

Go left and drop down to the platform below you. You’ll have to drop down to the left again.

From here, go left to spot a large OHN deposit.

Drop down to the left once again to reach a section that you couldn’t access earlier. Go left to exit to the next room.

This will take you to the Caverns Entrance Altar. Save your progress and get ready.

As soon as you jump to the platform on the left, you’ll trigger a boss fight against the Ophilin Swordsman.

How to Beat the Ophilin Swordsman

The Ophilin Swordsman is an optional boss that guards the entrance to the Caverns. You only have to beat her if you want to unlock the true ending of the game.

As far as difficulty, it’s not a very tough fight. Most of her attacks are dash attacks, which are pretty easy to parry once you get the timing down.

She has an unblockable dash attack that you need to parry if you don’t want to take damage.

If she gets close to you, she will swipe her sword to deal a close-range attack. This one is also easy to parry. You’ll see her raise her sword arm when she does this attack.

She also has a double-stab attack when she’s near you that can deal decent damage.

The deadliest attack you want to watch out for is when she raises her empty hand. This will cause the water level to rise and damage you.

In addition to dealing damage, it will also inflict the Moisture Status Effect, which you need to get rid of using two dodges. To dodge the attack, make sure you use a double jump to avoid getting caught in the water.

The boss only has four resistances, which are pretty easy to break once you get the parry timings down. Keep attacking her, and make sure you purge off the Moisture status effect quickly, and she’ll go down without any trouble.

After defeating the boss, head left and drop down. You’ll find the Memory Fragment: Ophilin Swordsman on the ground.

Go right to find the entrance to the Closed Caverns. To unlock it, you need a special key that you will collect later.

There’s a hanging boulder on the right that you can drop using a charged attack to return to the waterfall area. We’re done with this zone for now. So you can work your way back to the Pyron Village. We’ll be heading into the Faded Castle next.
