SOPA: Tale of The Stolen Potato Complete Walkthrough

SOPA: Tale of The Stolen Potato is a cozy adventure game following the journey of Miho as he tries to fetch a potato for her Nana. This takes him into a fantasy world, where he meets many frogs and strange characters. Recovering the potato from the purple frog is the main objective of the game, and our walkthrough will guide you through the complete game. To learn more about the title, check out the Steam page.

Getting The Potato

You start off in your house, where you are called to enjoy your soup. Just go forward till you reach a room where Nana is. Drink what she gives you. You are now asked to bring a potato from the pantry.

A dog will get in your way, but you can pet it to move forward. When you try to get the potatoes, a frog will take them from you, and you find yourself in a different world which is where the story of SOPA: Tale of The Stolen Potato is set in.

Objective – Follow The Frog Thief

You see the frog running right, so follow him by going down the path and then to the right. You can’t move forward as the water, as some dangerous fish are found here.

Objective – Find A Boat

You need a boat to get across here. Go back to the first room, from where you started the game. Go right towards the garden, and you will find something like a boat near the pots in the front.

Carry it to that river in the other world. Drop it, and you now need to find something to row it. Go back to Nana’s room and grab the broom to use as an Oar.

Just ride the boat here, and avoid the rocks. You will be washed away to a new area, and will reach the Black Market, you will frequently visit this market in SOPA: Tale of The Stolen Potato.

Objective – Fix The Broken Bridge

Go forward till you reach the broken area to start the quest. You will need to find a plank to fix the bridge. You will spot one on the left side of the wooden bridge as you move down. Go back and use it there.

Go further in the market, and talk to the frog giving free samples. He will give you an insect. Talk to another one on the right side to get another.

Go to the spiral bridge leading downwards, and you will find the suspicious purple frog with your potatoes. He throws one on the roof, so you need to get it.

Objective – Get The Potato

You will find it on the roof of a stall run by a green frog. Go to the bridge behind and make sure to grab the bottle floating in the water. Take out the paper charm out of it.

Go to the frog who has a grease bottle and fill the empty bottle. Take it to the frogs who are pushing a box. Push the box from the right side.

Climb it up and move forward across the path. Pick up the plank, when you move forward, the roof of a stall will fly away, and you need to get it back.

Objective – Fix The Tent

Use the plank to go down, and then pick it up again. Go right and then push the box down. Use the grease again and push it from the north side.

Climb up the box and use the plank in the opening. Don’t forget to pick it up after use. Go forward till you reach the cloth. When you move the box, the cloth will fly and get stuck again.

So go back to the spiral bridge in the north, and grab the cloth from the stuck tree. In your inventory, combine it with the plank. Climb up again, and then attach the cloth to the stall.

Objective – Get The Potato: Part Two

Remember that box you dropped near the stalls that had your potato on the roof? You need to apply grease to it and then move it.

You can now climb up the stalls and grab the potato.

Objective: Get The Potato From The Seagull

A seagull steals the potato in question, so Miho now has to go left where it flew. Interact with the pigeon, but it doesn’t work. So, you now have to place the insects you got to retrieve your potato.

Objective: Find The Way Home

Return back to your boat back at the dock, but apparently you can’t use it anymore. Go to the docks behind the market, but the frogs won’t let you ride the boat, because you don’t have money.

Talk to the salesman on the left, and he will say that he will take you for $3, then talk to the one on the right, after you tell him that the other one is taking you for $3, he will offer you $2. Return to the other frog and repeat till the right one takes you for free.

A fish will eat you, but you need to get out of here. This is another major location in SOPA: Tale of The Stolen Potato.

It’s completely dark in here, so go left to find a light switch. Before you get on the plank bridge, the Jellyman will give you a mysterious seed.

Pick up the fire extinguisher near a purple frog plushy. Go left near the barrels, and use the extinguisher in the opposite direction to move the wooden board left. Then hold it towards the south, so the wooden board takes you north.

Objective – The Thief’s Treasure

Talk to the man with a knife in his hand. He has your potato, but he will refuse to hand it over. He asks you to find the treasure in the cave.

Talk to the man again to get the plant pot. You can combine it with the seed in your inventory. Go forward till you reach the fish’s captain. She will ask you for a coffee.

Objective – Caffeinate The Captain

Go left from the room where you found the two men. Go left till you reach another movable wooden floor. Use the extinguisher here again, towards the south to go north.

Objective – Get A Coupon For Carmenza

Talk to the woman named Carmenza here. She asks you to get some good-quality paper. Check out the bags on one side to grab some coffee beans.

Get on the wooden board on the right, and then move it across the bottles to make a shortcut for this place.

Before you go back, make sure to fill up the plant with water, using the faucet on the bottom right.

Objective – Caffeinate The Captain: Part Two

Go back to the captain’s room and go to the right room. There is a coffee maker here, so you can insert those beans here to make coffee.

Give the coffee to the captain. She will refuse to take it, and now you have to rearrange the room.

Objective: Rearrange The Room What?

Enter the room on the left, and arrange it according to Jellyman’s instructions. Stop pushing the furniture when it tells you to stop.

Objective: Clean Up Your Mess

While pushing the bed, Miho will accidentally drop a vase. She now asks you to clean up the mess. You try to ask the mechanic for it, but he will refuse. Go down, and the thief will offer his help.

Objective: Fix The Radios

Talk to the mechanic while the sketchy man steals the broom. The nice guy even thanks you and gives you a coupon.

Objective: Clean Up Your Mess: Part Two.

You now need to play Rock, Paper, Scissors with the man till you win, and he will give you the broom.

Objective – Get A Coupon For Carmenza: Part Two

Hand over the coupon to Carmenza, and now she will wish to find a clue, but at least she now lets you grab a bottle.

Objective – Light Up The Cave

Go talk to the lady with the cow. Use the bottle to get the glowy milk. Enter the dark cave on the left side of this area.

Inside the cave, you will find a man who seems to need his accordion.

You find the treasure box, but it’s empty except for the note. Go further in, and you will find an accordion. He will offer to teach you, but he needs something that would wake him up.

So make some coffee and bring it to him. He will give you a music book, which you can insert in the captain’s shelf to unlock a secret passage.

Take that note that you found in the chest back to the thief, and he will return your potato.

You can also show the note to Carmenza to complete Carmenza’s Clue objective.

Objective: Where’s The When?

Carmenza now asks you to find the date so she can know the correct day for the legend to work. Go to the room with the Calendar which you will find to the south.

Use your broom to grab it, and pick up the piece of paper with the date.

Objective: Locate The Logs

Carmenza also asks you to find the captain’s logs to learn more. Talk to the captain, and she will give you a key.

While you are here, you should attempt to fix her radio, but you need to distract her. Play the accordion to the parrot and while the captain is distracted, you can flip the radio’s batteries.

Go back to the bedroom and push the bed up to get those logs. Use the key to open them. Bring them to Carmenza.

Objective: Find Stuff For Carmenza’s Plan

Carmenza now gives you a list of things which you need to find. You need to gather these in a couple of short quests.

You can take the sunglasses from the man with the accordion, but the coffee needs to be hot. So go back and use the secret passage to make sure it’s warm.

Go further inside the cave, where you see light coming out. Take out your plant and it will grow.

Talk to the captain, and ask her for her purple scrunchy, and she will give it to you, if you have already fixed her radio.

To get the football, play the accordion to the thief

Objective: Clean The Fish’s Teeth

Go back to the first area. Go right and interact with the cloth; you need to take it out. For that, you need the farmer’s perrero.

She will refuse to hand it over, and you need to give her the plant that you previously grew.

Return and use it there to get that cloth.

Objective: Find Stuff For Carmenza’s Plan (Part Two)

You now have the black fabric, sunglasses, and a hair accessory. You still need to find a garment made from animal hair and a sphere, because the football you had was deflated.

Return to the farmer to get her wool garment, but she will refuse to give it to you until you give her a replacement for her Perrero.

Give the football to the mechanic, and he will fix that for you.

Give the broom to the theif and he will make a Perrero out of it. Return it to the farmer, and she will give you the woolen garment.

Hand over everything to Carmenza. She will put it on fire, but the captain will keep extinguishing it. So you need to stop her.

Return to the cave, and grab the bottle near the chair. Its flammable, so you can use it to make the fire last.

The fish will open its mouth, and you can see a boat with the paddle. You can use it to get out.

Just paddle back, and you will reach Nana’s home. Give her the potato. It’s gone bad, so now Nana will ask you to throw it away in the yard.

You will find Miguel in the yard. He will ask you to plant the potato so it grows big. Nana then asks you to grab another.

You need to go to the Black Market to get more potatoes.

Objective: Get The Potatoes

Go back to the back areas where you found the frog who took you potatoes. Try to wake up the frog who is sleeping, but it won’t work yet.

Objective: Rude Awakening

There is a chicken moving over in the black market, and it’s pretty noisy. You need to find a way to move it.

Talk to the frog selling insects on a stick. He will give you one. You can use this Skewer to take the chicken all the way down to the sleeping frog. Place the skewers over shorter distances consistently before it gets distracted.

Objective: Persuasive Persuasion

Take the panda plushy from the frog to get the shady frog to cooperate. He will teach you the secret knock, which you can use to access the hideout.

Enter the door by using that knock, and now are in the hideout. This is where you will come face to face with the gang leader in SOPA: Tale of The Stolen Potato.

Objective: Help The Old Frog

Go to the left stall, where you found the cranky old frog.

The Old Frog might be willing to help you, and it’s her birthday, so she wishes to hear a song from her past. You need to find someone as old as her who knows it.

Objective: Learn The Old Song

Go talk to your Nana, and she will teach you the entire song. Sing it back to the frog, and you will get the birthday candles.

Objective: Beat The Gang Leader

You will find the purple frog who took your potatoes in the the tiny room in the back of the hideout. He will ask you to play a game with him if you want them back.

Use the candles, you got from the lady to defeat him. He will give you the potato sack.

Bring them back to your Nana. She will ask you to get a board, which you can retreive from the cupboard.

Objective: Return The Potatoes

You now have to place them back where you got them. Return back to the shady back and give them back to the purple frog.

Return back from Nana, and she will ask you to grab Cilantro. Go back to the yard, where the tree is in full bloom. When you try to grab the Cilantro it flies away.

So you need to get up the tree to get it.
