Star Birds is a resource management game that features space-faring birds. The game focuses on exploring and gathering resources from asteroids, as well as uncovering the secrets they hold. For more information regarding Star Birds, you can visit their official Steam page here.
Sector 2 leads you onto an asteroid with a mysterious object on it. Now our birds will have to figure out a way to deal with this obstacle and figure out what it exactly is.

Strange Readings
Stella discovers strange readings coming from an asteroid. It appears that there’s a mysterious object on one of the asteroids ahead.
The Captain thinks that this is exactly the type of resource they need, so the crew decides to investigate this further.

Landing On The Main Asteroid
In the map section, we can see that three other smaller asteroids surround our main asteroid. But for now, we only have to focus on the main one because of the mysterious object on it.

Select the main asteroid in the middle and plan to set up a base on any of the large craters on it.

As soon as you make a launch pad on the asteroid, you’ll discover Gold and Water deposits on it. There’s also a large circular rock in the middle of the asteroid, which is likely our mysterious object.

Stella tells you that it won’t be easy to recover this object because it appears to have fused with the asteroid. But it is possible to do so with the help of an excavation hub.
Excavation Hub
You can immediately spot the excavation hub from the build menu, but to initiate the research to unlock the building, you’ll need Tech points.

The game immediately tells you that you’ll have to complete modules to get Tech points. Modules are optional quests that require you to deliver a certain number of resources to earn Tech points or Credits.

Select the icon on the left side of the screen and choose a module to start it. You’ll have to mind and deliver the required resources to complete the module and gain Tech points. Once you’ve completed a few modules, you can initiate the research for the excavation hub.

After completing the research, place the excavation hub on the strange object.

Delivering Resources To The Excavation Hub
After you’ve set up the excavation hub on the mysterious object, you’ll receive a request from Ruth asking for certain materials to be delivered directly to the excavation hub.

Click on Ruth’s icon on the left side of the screen and accept their quest. Once you do so, you’ll be required to collect 16 Gold and 8 Oxygen and send them directly to the excavation hub.

You’ll have to plant new extractors on Gold and Water deposits and connect them to the excavation hub to have materials delivered to it. If you don’t do that, the progress meter for the quest won’t go up.
If you run out of Credits, just complete more modules or deploy a Rover. Furthermore, for Oxygen, you’ll have to set up refiners. Connect the extractors mining on Water to the refiner, and then connect the refiner to the excavation hub to deliver Oxygen to it.
After you’ve sent the required resources, Ruth will send another request, and this time, they’ll be asking for Uranium.

Searching For Uranium
Ruth needs Uranium to break down the mysterious object with the excavation hub, but there isn’t any on this asteroid. You’ll have to head back to the map and find some other asteroid that has it.

Accept the quest from Ruth and head to the map. One of the other asteroids will be showing a Uranium icon on it, which means that you’ll be able to mine it from there. Discover the asteroid using Tech points and set up a launch pad on it.

Mining Uranium
You’ll likely be short on Credits by now. You should deploy the Rover and collect gold nuggets to earn Credits. This asteroid also features green nuggets that can be collected by the Rover. Collecting these green ones will increase your Tech points.

After you’ve got enough Credits, it’s time to set up multiple extractors and start mining Uranium. Everything is going well; however, there is a slight problem. The launch pad is sending Uranium back to the spaceship, while it’s needed by Ruth on the other asteroid.

Building A Landing Pad
You need a landing pad to transfer resources between asteroids. However, you’ll have to research it first. You’ll need 8 Oxygen to complete the research on the landing pad. Luckily, we’ve already got Oxygen figured out on the main asteroid, but it is being delivered to the excavation hub instead of the spaceship.

Go back to the main asteroid, and build new extractors on Water alongside refiners to produce Oxygen. You can also simply remove the Oxygen pipes from the excavation hub and redirect those to the nearest launch pad.

After that, you’ll have to wait until the research finishes. Once the landing pad becomes available to build, pick a large crater on the main asteroid to set up the landing pad.

Keep in mind that you have to build the landing pad on the main asteroid where the excavation hub is. The landing pad will allow you to receive materials from other asteroids.
Head back to the map now, and you’ll be able to spot a path that’s transferring Uranium to the spaceship. Click on the Uranium icon on the asteroid and drag it to the main excavation asteroid.

For the last step, you’ll have to connect the landing pad with the excavation hub using a pipe to transfer the Uranium to it.

Searching For Quartz
After securing Uranium’s supply to the excavation hub, Ruth will send another request. This time, they need Quartz, a resource we haven’t seen so far. Accept the quest from the left side of the screen to progress ahead.
If you follow the on-screen instructions, you’ll be told by the game that you need to build a chemical lab and combine Silicon and Water to produce Quartz.

Researching The Chemical Lab
The chemical lab will show up on the build menu, but to set it up, you’ll need 10 Water and 10 Silicon. Water is plenty here, but we don’t have Silicon yet, so we’ll have to head to the map again and find another asteroid that has Silicon.

Investigate the other asteroid and set up a launch pad on it. Silicon deposits are green, and you should set up extractors on them and connect them to the launch pad.

After you’ve sent the required resources to the spaceship, the research for the chemical lab will be completed, and you’ll be able to set it up.

Producing Quartz
After the chemical lab becomes available, you have to set it up on the asteroid with silicon and water. You can simply redirect the pipes from the silicon extractor to the chemical lab instead of setting up a new one.
For water, you’ll have to set up an extractor that can transfer water to the chemical lab. After that, link the chemical lab to the launch pad.

Now, you have to make sure the required materials reach the excavation asteroid. Head back to the map and route the path from the spaceship to the excavation asteroid.
You don’t have to build another landing pad on the excavation asteroid; just use the one that you were previously using for Uranium, since Ruth doesn’t need that anymore.

Now, you have to wait till all the required materials are delivered to the excavation hub. After everything is done, complete the quest by clicking on the yellow icon on the left side of the screen.

Sector 2 Ending
After you’ve excavated the strange object, the birds will bring it to the lab. They’ll cut it open to find a strange rock, which appears to have come from much further in the universe.
