Star Birds features birds that have advanced beyond imagination and have turned into a space-faring civilization. These birds are now heading into deep space to mine for strange resources, but who knows what awaits them there in the depths of the unknown? In Sector 5, you’ll have to look for multiple Strangelets at once and use the required resources to excavate them.

Introduction

As Sector 5 begins, you’ll be informed by Stella that this Sector shows the strongest Strangelets signals that we’ve discovered so far. The possibility is that this Sector might contain more than one, or maybe several Strangelets.

In the map, you’ll see many asteroids. The ones that are the closest to the space station are discovered, but you’ll have to spend resources to discover them completely later.

You’ll immediately receive a quest from Ruth. This quest states that you have to excavate 3 Strangelets to gain victory in this sector.

Excavating The First Strangelet

Among the already discovered asteroids, look for the one that is the closest and has the Strangelet on it. You can easily spot it from the map, but if you can’t seem to find one, take a closer look at each asteroid and check if it has a black circular mountain on it.

Set up the launch pad on the asteroid with the first Strangelet and mine the local resource, and complete some modules and quests.

Getting Water For The First Strangelet

Set up an excavation hub on the Strangelet on the asteroid. Ruth will ask for 100 units of Water to be delivered to the first excavation hub to get the Strangelet out. But this asteroid doesn’t have any water, so you’ll have to head to the map and look for some.

You’d have enough Tech points to discover all the nearby asteroids, so keep going until you find Water on one of them.

As soon as you locate Water on an asteroid, set up ice extractors and a launch pad on it. Head back to the first Strangelet asteroid and set up a landing pad there, and connect it to the excavation hub. Go to the map and link the transport line for Water from the station to the excavation asteroid.

You’ll have to wait a little till 100 units are transported and then complete the quest. Now, it’s time to search for the second Strangelet.

After you’ve completed the first Strangelet’s quest, you can reroute the Water supply to the space station.

Searching For The Second Strangelet

Head back to the map and look for another asteroid that has a Strangelet on it. If you’ve discovered the other asteroids, you’ll be able to find one quickly.

Get on the asteroid and set up a launch pad, local resource production, and an excavation hub on the Strangelet. As soon as you set up the excavation hub, you’ll receive a request from Ruth asking for 10 units of Light Alloy.

Producing Light Alloy

As we know, Light Alloy can be crafted in a crucible by combining Aluminium and Silicon, but both of these resources are yet to be produced in this sector.

Head to the map and check if any of the other asteroids have both of these resources on them. You’ll be able to find one easily.

Set up a launch pad on it immediately and start producing Silicon and Aluminium. Don’t directly connect them to the launch pad yet.

Researching Small Explosives

If there were any small craters on this asteroid, we’d be able to set up a crucible right here and start producing Light Alloy, but there aren’t any.

For that reason, we’ll get the option to research a small explosive to artificially create a small crater on this asteroid. However, you’ll need both Sulfur and Aluminium to complete the research, both of which are available on this asteroid.

Set up extractors on Silicon and Aluminium and connect them to the launch pad to complete the research as soon as possible. After completing the research, set up the small explosive on the asteroid.

The game will inform you that using explosives doesn’t come free of cost, and you’ll need Strange Points to use them. You can get Strange Points by progressing the story.

Back To Producing Light Alloy

Now that we’ve got a small crater on this asteroid, we can build a crucible and start producing Light Alloy. Connect extractors on Aluminium and Silicon to the crucible, but you’ll need to build solar panels as well for the energy.

Placing solar panels is an issue as well, because if you don’t place them at the right spot, they won’t be able to produce full power, even under the sunlight. To produce sufficient energy, you’ll have to place them in the white markings on the asteroid.

You’ll be able to spot these markings while placing a solar panel. After supplying the crucible with power, build a new launch pad and connect it.

Head to the asteroid with the second Strangelet and build a landing pad there, and connect it with the excavation hub. Go back to the map and route the Light Alloy transport line to the newly created landing pad on the second excavation asteroid.

Wait till all the Light Alloys are transported to the excavation hub and complete the quest.

Producing Energy For The Second Excavation Hub

Now that we’re done with the Light Alloy, we can send its transport back to the station. But we’ve got another quest from Ruth to complete the excavation of the second Strangelet. We’ll need to provide the excavation hub with at least 8 energy to complete the excavation.

To produce this much energy, we’ll have to build a Nuclear Reactor. Start researching it immediately. You’ll need 10 units of Uranium to complete the research. Go out to the map and see if any other asteroid has Uranium on it and secure its production.

Go back to the asteroid with the second Strangelet and construct a nuclear reactor there. However, it uses Uranium as fuel, so connect the launch pad to the nuclear reactor and link its power to the excavation hub. You’ll have to go to the map and connect the Uranium transport line to this asteroid’s landing pad.

Wait for the power to be generated and complete the quest. Once the quest is complete, you can send back the Uranium to the space station. Congratulations, the second Strangelet has been successfully excavated.

Searching For The Third Strangelet

Now, it’s time to look for the final Strangelet of this Sector. Locate the asteroid with it and set up a launch pad there. Build an excavation hub on the Strangelet, and you’ll immediately receive a quest from Ruth.

This time, Ruth requires Strong Alloy, which can be crafted in a crucible by combining Titanium and Iron or Iron and Carbon.

Producing Strong Alloy

You’ll have to look for an asteroid that has both Titanium and Iron on it. Luckily, the second Strangelet asteroid had both, so you’ll have to go back there.

Unfortunately, there aren’t any usable small craters for you to set up a crucible. But we’ve got enough Strange Points to use an explosive by completing the last few quests.

Link the Titanium and Iron extractors to the crucible and set up a few solar panels in the right area. Now that you’re producing Strong Alloy, you’ve to send it to the third excavating asteroid.

Set up a launch pad and connect the crucible producing Strong Alloy to it. Head back to the third excavator hub asteroid, set up a landing pad there, and link it to the excavation hub. Connect the Strong Alloy transport to the landing pad.

Producing Energy For The Third Excavation Hub

This will be the final task for this Sector, and it requires you to generate 15 energy for the excavation hub. Set up a nuclear reactor on the third excavation asteroid and link it to the landing pad.

Route the Uranium transport to it to power it up. You’d be producing only half the energy so far, but for the rest, you’ll have to set up solar panels.

There’s not much reliable space to set up solar panels due to the excavation hub coming in the way, but you should try to link all of them together.

All Three Strangelets Excavated!

After you’ve produced enough energy, you’ll be able to complete the excavation for the third Strangelet and complete the Sector. The cutscene that follows will show our bird friends moving deeper into this frigid star system with hopes of uncovering more of the Strangelets and the mysteries that they hold.
