Star Birds Walkthrough – Sector 6

Star Birds

Star Birds Walkthrough

Star Birds leads you into a civilization of extremely technologically advanced birds, and you’re to help them out in their space-faring adventures. For more information on Star Birds, don’t forget to check out their official Steam page here.

Sector 6 is a little difficult compared to the previous Sectors because of the lack of Water. Water is a key component in most recipes, and its absence makes things a little challenging. However, you can still find a workaround through all that with the help of this walkthrough.

Introduction

In this Sector, the temperature is even colder than before. Stella comes up with a genius idea to craft Insulation Mesh Covers to keep things warm for our bird friends on the way ahead.

We’ll have to craft a total of 16 Insulation Mesh Covers to complete this Sector. It’s going to be challenging due to the absence of Water deposits, but we have plenty of other resources to make do.

Starting Out

There are plenty of asteroids to choose from in the beginning. Head to the asteroid that has Uranium and Sulfur. After you’ve secured production of one of the local resources, check the crafting recipe for Insulation Mesh Covers in the Wiki on the top-right corner of the screen.

If you click on Feathers, the game will tell you that you need to build a Habitat to get this item. Start researching it. You’ll be required to produce Ceramic and Glass to complete the research, and that will be our first objective.

Crafting Ceramic

You’ll need Carbon to get Ceramic, and Carbon can be crafted with Methane and Oxygen. Both of these resources are present on one of the asteroids, so you’ll have to go there and start the production.

Build a chemical lab and link it to an ice extractor on Methane and Oxygen. Connect the chemical lab to a launch pad, and you’ve got our steady supply of Carbon.

Now, you have to combine Carbon with Aluminium to produce Ceramic. Head back to the map and search for any asteroid that has Aluminium on it. Discover the remaining asteroids if you’ve yet to do so.

Set up a launch pad here and a landing pad as well. Bring the Carbon here and combine it with Aluminium in a crucible to produce Ceramic.

Producing Glass

Glass can be produced by combining Ceramic with Aluminium in a component lab. After you’ve sent 10 units of Ceramic to the station, you can switch its output to a component lab to produce Glass.

You need to power up the component lab with energy. You can do so by setting up more solar panels, or you can set up a nuclear reactor. Luckily, we have Uranium available on this asteroid, so we can easily set up a nuclear reactor for energy.

You’ll be able to produce Glass now to complete the research for a Habitat.

Setting Up A Habitat

You can set up a Habitat right here, next to our steady supply of Glass production. A Habitat will also require power, so you can link it up to the Nuclear Reactor by placing some extra Uranium extractors.

Now that we’ve got some Feathers, it’s time to set up an extra launch pad to send these Feathers somewhere else.

Crafting Plastic

We have to combine Plastic with either Gold or Glass in a component lab to craft Conductors. Head back to the asteroid where you’ve set up Carbon production.

Destroy the pipe leading Carbon to the launch pad and place a pipe hub on the way instead. The pipe hub will allow you to utilize Carbon for both producing Glass and Plastic.

Build a chemical lab here, and connect it with the Carbon and an ice extractor on Methane to produce Hydrocarbon. Build a component lab and a refiner next.

Connect the produced Hydrocarbon to the refiner and then connect it to the component lab. Set up a few solar panels to power the component lab.

Producing Conductors

Our component lab will not be functioning properly for now. You’ll need to craft a landing pad and a launch pad here. The landing pad will bring in the Glass, and the launch pad will send out the crafted Conductors.

Researching Stuff Factory

Stuff Factory is required to craft the Insulation Mesh Covers by combining Thread and Feathers. You’ve yet to craft Threads, but let’s get on ahead and research the Stuff Factory. You’ll need 20 Feathers and 5 units of Plastic to complete the research.

Head to the asteroid where you’re producing Conductors, if you’re not there already. Break apart the pipe from the refiner that was connected to the component lab, and connect it to any nearby launch pad to fulfill the requirement of those 5 units of Plastic.

Wait until all the materials are delivered, and then you’ll be able to complete the quest. Don’t forget to connect the Plastic pipe back to the component lab.

Crafting Thread

Threads can be crafted by combining a Conductor and a Feather. Our asteroids are getting crowded, so it’s time to head somewhere else. Look for any asteroid that you’ve yet to set up, but make sure it contains Uranium because we’ll be needing a lot of energy.

Researching Melter

Now that you’ve found yourself an asteroid with Uranium, there’s barely any space to build the Stuff Factory here. You’ll get a conversation between the crew about strapping a Flamethrower to Rover to melt the ice on this asteroid.

Luckily, Stella is wiser than the rest of the crew, and she has an idea. Melter will become available in the build menu, but you’ll have to research it first.

Melter’s research requires 10 units of Carbon and Acid. You can get Carbon right away, but Acid will take some work.

Link the Carbon transport line to the space station so that you can fulfill the research requirement. Once that’s done, reconnect it to the Glass-producing asteroid.

For Acid, you’ll need to combine Sulfur with either Carbon or Methane. You’re already producing Sulfur, but for convenience’s sake, let’s look for an asteroid that has both Sulfur and Methane on it.

Set up a chemical lab right away and place an ice extractor on Methane and a regular extractor on Sulfur to start producing Acid. Connect the chemical lab to the launch pad, and we’ll have the requirement fulfilled in no time.

Setting Up Thread Production

Now, you have to take your pick. You can pick the other Uranium asteroid, or start working on this one. You’ll have to use Melters on both of these asteroids to free up space. It’s on you to decide, depending on the layout of the asteroids, since those are randomly generated.

Let’s suppose you decide to produce Thread on the asteroid where you’re producing Acid. You have to set up two landing pads here.

Connect the Feather transport to one landing pad, and the Conductor transport to the other one. Build a component lab here, and also a nuclear reactor.

You’ll also have to set up a few extractors on Uranium and connect them to the nuclear reactor to generate power.

Now, place a pipe hub and connect the pipe coming from the landing pad that’s bringing in Feathers. We’ll be needing Feathers in two places on this asteroid, and the pipe hub will help with it.

Finishing Insulation Mesh Cover Production

Now that we’ve got all the source material, it’s time to finally craft the Insulation Mesh Covers in the Stuff Factory. We’ll need more power for it, so place another nuclear reactor here and link it with a few Uranium extractors.

Congratulations, we’re finally producing Insulation Mesh Covers. Link the Stuff Factory to any nearby launch pad to send the finished product to the space station. Wait a while till all the units are delivered, and then complete the quest.
