Star Birds Walkthrough – Sector 7

Star Birds

Star Birds Walkthrough

Star Birds takes you on a journey through deep space, where you have to mine for resources from the asteroids, craft structures, and excavate strange objects. For more information on Star Birds, don’t forget to check out their official Steam page.

Sector 7 is unique in that it features a single gigantic asteroid with a wide range of resources. You will have to plan accordingly to complete the objectives, and this walkthrough will help you through all that.

Introduction

As you head into Sector 7, you’re greeted by a gigantic asteroid with many resources on it. However, the surface of this asteroid is a bit challenging to deal with because of all the plateaus.

Stella suggests building a plateau ramp to make it possible for pipes and cables to go up and down on this uneven surface.

Researching Plateau Ramp

Start by setting up a launch pad. You’ll get a conversation where Stella and the rest of the crew discuss the uneven terrain of the asteroid. You’ll have to build a plateau ramp here, and before building it, you’ll have to research it.

Researching the plateau ramp requires you to deliver 10 units of Light Alloy and Elastoscope to the space station. We’re familiar with Light Alloy, but Elastoscope is something we’ve yet to produce. Accept the research, and you’ll have to start by looking up the Wiki.

You can find the Wiki in the top-right corner of the screen. It has a book icon on it. Look up Elastoscope on it and find out what is required to build it.

You’ll have to do the same for Light Alloy. The recipes have been slightly adjusted for this Sector, so you’ll have to figure out some stuff along the way.

Crafting Strong Alloy

You should start by progressing towards producing Strong Alloy. You can then turn it into Light Alloy, which is required for the research.

Strong Alloy can be produced by combining Carbon and Iron in a crucible. You’ve got Carbon and Iron reserves on this asteroid, but they might be covered under Methane. Set up a metler to melt the area around the Carbon reserves and place an extractor on it.

We can also start extracting Iron and Uranium to complete the module and supply quests for credits.

Place a crucible in one of the small craters and place an extractor on Carbon and Iron each. Connect these extractors to the crucible.

You will need to supply it with energy. For that, you’ll have to set up a nuclear reactor. There’s plenty of Uranium around here that you can feed to it.

Gathering Feathers To Craft Light Alloy

Now that we’ve got Strong Alloy production going, we need to get Feathers. You’ll have to place a habitat for that.

Once you set up a habitat, you’ll need to build a chemical lab. Send a power cable from the nuclear reactor to the habitat to power it up. You might have to link at least 3 to 4 Uranium extractors to the reactor to power up both the crucible and the habitat.

After doing that, link the Feather supply from the habitat to the chemical lab, and the Strong Alloy coming from the crucible to it. The Light Alloys that are being produced should go directly to the launch pad.

Wait for the Light Alloy to be delivered to the space station, and then you can start working on producing Elastoscopes.

Producing Elastoscope

Elastoscopes are made up of Plastic and Thread. You’ll need to combine Carbon and Methane in a chemical lab, and then refine it to produce Plastic. You can access all of these resources easily.

For Feathers, you’ll have to put a refiner on its output to craft thread. Note that we don’t currently need to craft Light Alloy, so you can cut off the Feather and the Energy supply to it and focus on producing Elastoscope.

Set up a stuff factory and connect the Plastic output to it. Pass the habitat’s Feather supply through a refiner and connect it to the stuff factory.

Wait till the required amount of Elastoscope is delivered to the space station and complete the research.

Strangelet Detector

Now, you have to place the ramp near any plateau. Once you’ve done so, you’ll receive a quest from the Captain asking for 10 Chips and Lasers. Completing this quest will reward you with a Strangelet Detector.

If you’ve got enough Tech points, you can set up a few more ramps to get to the highest surface of this asteroid, and all the riches here will become accessible to you. Doing so is recommended to make crafting the rest of the materials a lot easier.

Researching Electronics Factory

Go up one level from the ramp and start researching the electronics factory, as it will be required to produce the Chip.

The electronics factory requires 10 Conductors and Circuit Boards to complete the research. For Conductor, you need to combine Plastic with Glass. You’re already producing Plastic on the lowest floor, so we’ll need Glass, which can be refined from Quartz.

Place a component’s lab on the first floor of this asteroid and connect the Plastic production to it. Place an extractor on Quartz and pass it through a refiner before connecting it to the lab. You will also have to build a nuclear reactor here for Energy, and you will find plenty of Uranium reserves for it.

Once you’ve sent out 10 Conductors, it’s time to focus on Circuit Boards.

Producing Circuit Boards

Circuit Boards need to be prepared in a component lab by combining Acid and Silicon. We’ll have to go one more floor above to the second floor to secure both resources.

There will be a large mushroom-like thing on the second floor, which can be used for power. Set up a component lab on the second floor and link it to the Silicon and Acid extractors.

To avoid too much clutter, you should build another launch pad so we can send the Circuit Boards to the station and finish the research for the electronics factory.

Crafting Chips

Let’s finish crafting Chips. You’ll have to combine a Circuit Board and a Conductor in an electronics factory to produce a Chip.

Set up an electronics factory on the second floor and link the Conductor production to it. Bring the Circuit Boards that you’re producing on the third floor to the second one and link them to the electronics factory.

If you need more power, set up another nuclear reactor. Now, you have to wait until the required number of Chips is delivered to the Space Station.

Producing Laser

For Laser, you’ll need Quartz refined into Glass and then combined with Uranium. All of these resources are available on the second floor of this asteroid.

Set up an optics factory on the second floor. Build an extractor on Quartz and link it to the refiner before connecting it to the optics factory. Place another extractor on Uranium and connect it to the optics factory.

You’ll be producing Laser now. Wait for it to be delivered to the station and complete the quest.

Placing The Strangelet Detector

After completing the previous quest, Stella will ask you to place the Stragelet Detector on a small crater in the highest plateau on the asteroid.

For the last step, Stella will ask you to supply the Strangelet Detector with a huge amount of power. It will need a total of 8 energy. Fortunately, you’ve got Uranium reserves here, so you can set up a nuclear reactor and also connect it to the Energy Mushroom on the second floor.

Once you’ve set everything up, that would be the end of Sector 7, and you’ll get a small cutscene as a reward.
