StarRupture – Walkthrough Part 2

walkthrough part 2 featured StarRupture

StarRupture is an open-world base-building game that features a first-person perspective. The game also offers a vast open world along with solid combat mechanics. Because of this, it does not just feel like a typical base-building game, as you also have to survive and actively explore the world around you. For more information about the game, you can head over to its official Steam page.

Since the game is open world, you will need to explore much more than usual. However, exploring without a clear plan can start to feel meaningless and exhausting after some time. Due to that, you will first need to set up a proper foundation, and for that, you should read part one of my StarRupture walkthrough. In this walkthrough, I will continue progressing from where I left off in the previous part, so you can have a smoother and more enjoyable experience while playing StarRupture.

Disclaimer

As StarRupture is an open-world base-building game, this walkthrough is based on my experience and how I chose to progress through the game. You may adopt a different approach, and that is absolutely okay. You may have developed an item more quickly than I did or discovered some materials before I did. That is pretty common in such games, where you have access to a vast open world and many different progression paths.

StarRupture Walkthrough – How To Unlock The Map

map StarRupture
Unlocking the map is important for better traversal in StarRupture.

In my previous StarRupture walkthrough guide, I left off after exploring the planet for the first time. Now, to enhance your exploration, you should gain access to a map. To unlock the map, you will need calcium, which is not available near your base. As a result, you will first need to locate a calcium deposit.

After that, you must reach level three in Moon Energy Corporation, which will unlock the map feature. There are also certain machines, known as Geo Scanners, that further enhance your map functionality. For a complete step-by-step guide on how to unlock and use the map, you can click on this link.

Exploring To Find Some Of The Best Items In The Early Game

food station StarRupture

Note

Before heading out, make sure your inventory is empty except for survival rations and your ammo. You can also carry some additional food, like Hydrobulb and Polifruit, if you want to save the initial survival rations you received. It is important to keep space in your inventory, as there will be a lot of loot to collect.

If you have played the playtest, you would know that the Food Station was previously accessible after reaching level three in a certain corporation. However, that is no longer the case, as you now need to reach level six, which can take far too much time early on. This is because you must unlock recipes for various new materials and craft them in order to complete the commissions.

hydrobulb StarRupture

Due to this, rushing into a single corporation will not really work in your favor. That said, you can still find good food sources such as Polifruit and Hydrobulb, which are more than enough for your current needs. While these are sufficient, there are many more food options available in the world, even though their recipes have not yet been unlocked.

In addition to food, you can also find many different useful items throughout the world, including some LMEs, which are extremely valuable.

Finding The Abandoned Outpost Of The Previous Expedition

To obtain all of the useful items, you will need to locate the abandoned outpost from the previous expedition. That expedition was wiped out by monsters, so you should expect a large number of enemies in the area. Before heading out, make sure you are well prepared and carry at least a couple of hundred rounds of ammo.

This outpost is located on the opposite side of the map from your base. For clear directions, head left toward the pond, and after traveling for a short while, take another left turn. To the north, you will notice a giant building-like structure. Move in that direction, and you will eventually reach the outpost.

You will need to go up an inclined path, where you will notice a lot of purple gas in the air. The gas itself is not harmful, but the area is filled with monsters, and if you are not careful, they can easily overwhelm you.

Clear Out The Monsters Inside The Base

monsters StarRupture

First, attract the initial wave of monsters and lure them outside the outpost. Once they are separated, take them out and then move inside. Aim for the glowing middle part of their bodies, as this allows you to defeat them in a single attempt. There will be many more monsters inside, so use the same tactic and clear them out one by one.

After defeating all the enemies, begin exploring the area. When you reach the north side of the outpost, additional enemies will appear. Eliminate them and then continue exploring. You will find many storage boxes, bodies, and Rubble Piles throughout the area. Make sure to search everything, as this will reward you with a large number of new items.

Explore The Whole Outpost And Loot Everything

abandoned outpost StarRupture
You won’t be able to build anything in this area.

Note

When you play a recording, more enemies will emerge from the ground and attack you. Make sure you stay alert at all times, as the outpost is packed with enemies that can easily take you out. There will also be some spitting enemies that attack from a distance, but they are very easy to defeat and usually go down with a single shot.

If your inventory does not become full, then you have likely missed some areas. You can find war bonds, food, ammo, and many other useful items throughout the outpost. Some of these items provide a large number of data points, so make sure not to leave them behind. You can also obtain two story-related items, which are blueprints that you will later need, possibly to upgrade your base core.

Where To Find The Rotor And Tube Blueprints

There are also quite a few helium extractors scattered around the outpost. Be sure to check all of them, as they may contain some useful items. Near the middle left side of the area, you will find one large building. You can enter it through the front gate, but there is also another way inside. Move around the building from the right side to the left, then head upward. From there, jump in from the upper side and loot everything inside.

rotor and tube blueprints StarRupture
Make sure to get these blueprints, as they are required to unlock some recipes.

Inside the building, you will find War Bonds, ammo, and food. Head down the ladder to discover even more War Bonds along with some rare items. In one of the storage boxes, you will find the Rotor and Tube blueprints, along with a Security Lodger, which grants 1500 data points.

On the lowest floor, you will find additional food and another LEM. This one is the Lesser Runner LEM, which increases your stamina regeneration by 20 percent. There will also be another recording, so make sure to listen to it before exiting through the gate.

Note

While you are looting inside this building, some blue monsters will attack you. However, they are harmless on their own. You can ignore them, as the infection they cause will only damage your shield.

Check Every Single Building In The Area

storage box StarRupture

You can find the Lifegiver LEM inside a building on the northeast side of the outpost. This LEM increases your maximum health by 25. You can also find some War Bonds and other useful items there.

In the building on the northernmost side, you can find the Greater Swapper LEM, which increases your weapon swap speed by 35 percent. There are several other items in this area as well, so make sure to loot everything.

Setting Up The Proper Calcium Supply

ore excavators on calcium deposits StarRupture
You don’t need to set up a separate base to get calcium, but if you want to, then go for it.

At the start, you can progress without calcium and level up in almost all of the corporations except one. However, after reaching a certain point, calcium becomes an essential material. This is because it is required in many recipes, and to unlock them, you will need access to advanced calcium-based materials.

You cannot simply visit a calcium deposit with your harvester every time and bring the ore back to craft advanced items like calcium sheets. Doing that repeatedly would waste a lot of time. Instead, you need to set up a proper supply system to save time and significantly increase production.

The calcium deposit is located outside your base core range. Even if it were within range and you connected an ore excavator to a fabricator and smelter, it would still take a long time for the ores to travel through the system. Due to this, the best approach is to set up a secondary base.

Note

My StarRupture walkthrough features different ways of setting up a steady calcium supply, so you can choose whichever method you like best. You are also free to experiment on your own.

Setting Up Another Base Near The Calcium Deposit

If you do not know where the calcium deposit is, simply head north from the pond, and you will find it. Start by placing a base core to the left of the pond, then build a few platforms to give the area a clean and organized look. After that, place an ore excavator directly on top of the calcium deposit and connect it to a fabricator. You should also build another ore excavator and connect it to a smelter.

Start Moon Energy Commisions

Once this setup is complete, it is time to build some OCLs. If you want to significantly boost your commission progress, make sure to build at least five of them. Set all of them to focus on the Moon Energy Corporation, as it is the main corporation that requires calcium.

Additionally, make sure you have at least six solar energy machines so there is enough power for everything to run smoothly. After setting everything up, start assigning commissions. If you do not have a required recipe, simply build a habitat and place a recipe station inside it. There is no need to return to your original base just to unlock a new recipe.

Unlock the recipe, then start the commission and let the system handle the rest.

Alternative Way Of Setting Up The Calcium Supply

If you do not want to set up a completely new base, there is another way to establish a calcium supply, which may feel more convenient for some players. Start by placing a few ore excavators and a base core near the deposit. Then, set up a rail connector and link some of your solar grids to it. After that, connect all of your buildings to the rail connector and extend the rail all the way toward your main base.

Use Rail Connectors Effectively

You will not be able to extend the rail in a single go, as the game will show a pop-up saying the building is too long. You will need to extend it in several stages. Once the rail reaches your main base, place a storage depot and select calcium ores in it. Then connect the storage depot to smelters or fabricators to process the calcium into the materials you need.

Afterward, connect the fabricators or smelters to your OCLs so you can complete the Moon Energy Corporation commissions efficiently.

A More Efficient Way To Get Calcium

semlters StarRupture

Another option is, when you are near your base, to set up a few smelters and connect each of them to the rail using separate rail connectors. If you have multiple smelters, set up additional rail connectors to link them all.

Then, select the calcium block recipe and place a few fabricators in front of the smelters. Use another rail connector to connect the smelters to the fabricators, and then use an additional connector in front of the fabricators to link all of them together. Finally, extend the rail to your base and connect it to a storage depot so the materials are automatically delivered.

Note

If you do not have the Calcium Block unlocked in your fabricator, you will need to unlock it through a recipe station. However, this requires 1,000 Calcium Ores. Gathering that many ores can take some time, but if you have set up an ore excavator on each of the calcium deposits, it will be completed almost instantly.

Reach Level Four In All Of The Commissions

corporations StarRupture

Your next goal should be to reach level four in all of the commissions. This process can take some time, but it is necessary to unlock certain items and buildings. Begin by unlocking the recipes you need, and make sure to prioritize the ones that give the most points in the OCL.

Focusing on high-point recipes will significantly boost your commission progress. For reference, I have set up around seven OCLs, four smelters, and four fabricators to speed up the process. You can also build more of these buildings and expand your base to make your progress even faster and more efficient.

Level Three And Four Rewards For Each Corporation

In Future Health Solutions, at level three, you will receive the Medtool, which can be used to heal yourself or other players. You can charge it by killing monsters, taking damage, or collecting plants. At level four, you will unlock the LEM Station, which allows you to apply LEMs to your character, though you will need to have the appropriate slots unlocked.

At level three in Selenian Corporation, you will unlock a +8 inventory upgrade, and at level four, you will get a Furnace, which is extremely useful since many of the upcoming commissions cannot be completed without it.

In Griffits Blue Corporation, level three unlocks a Grenade, which can be used to defeat Vermins. You can charge it by defeating Vermins and harvesting meteors. At level four, you will unlock the Equipment Upgrade Station, which is used to upgrade your existing weapons and unlock more, though this requires War Bonds.

For Moon Energy Corporation, level three unlocks the map, and level four unlocks the Lesser Infiltrator LEM.

Finally, in Clever Robotics, levels three and four unlock Storage Depot Level One and the Building Drone, respectively.

Get Yourself Ready For Some More Exploration

weapons StarRupture
While a pistol is a good weapon, you need an automatic rifle to deal with the monsters more efficiently.

Once you have reached level four in all of the corporations, it is time to do some more exploration. If you have enough war bonds at this point, you may be able to unlock a new weapon or upgrade the pistol you already have. Since we will be focusing on exploration, I recommend taking some time to review the available upgrades and consider which ones will be most useful.

Also, make sure you have built the LEM station and inserted some useful LEMs before heading out. Once you have done all of that preparation, it is time to begin exploring to find the stator blueprint, along with some other valuable loot that you may come across.

Exploring New Areas For Even More Loot And The Stator Blueprint

Now, before heading out, put anything you have except for some food and ammo into your personal storage. Since we are going to explore now, you will need all the inventory space you can get so you do not have to discard any items. Once that is done, head north from the pond and keep going until you enter a ravine.

This ravine will be left of the calcium deposits, so it will not be hard to miss. Keep going ahead, passing the Geor Scanner, and you will come across bloody water in the area. There will be some loot along the way. Head straight through the ravine, and once you exit, you will notice some buildings to the north, slightly toward the west side.

Head up the pathway from the right side, and when you get close to the buildings, you will be greeted by some monsters.

Get Rid Of The Monsters

Now, I had the machine gun, so it was a piece of cake to defeat all of them. They will be present in quite a large quantity, so do not rush in and retreat for the moment. Then, aim and shoot them as they approach you. Even if you only have a pistol, it should not be a problem for you to defeat them at this point.

The ones you need to be the most careful of are the slashers, the bigger enemies. Their attack range is quite large, and it may feel even longer because StarRupture is a first-person game. They are the enemies that will cause you the most trouble, especially if you have been infected due to an exploder’s attack.

Therefore, be cautious and handle them accordingly. Once you have defeated the monsters, it is time to loot the building.

Loot All Of The Buildings In The Area

The first building will have food, bullets, and some building materials. You can also enter the lower floor by heading to the left side and crouching to get inside. There, you will find some food, materials, worth data points, and some bullets.

The next building will contain some food and a tablet. Upon interacting with the tablet, more enemies will attack you, so make sure to deal with them first. You will also find a body containing a Lesser Lifegiver LEM, which you should already have the upgraded version of if you followed my walkthrough from the start, as well as a Damaged Personal Interface worth 500 data points, and some bullets.

Pick Up The Blueprint Of Stator

There will also be a storage box containing the Stator blueprint, a story item, a Security Lodger worth 1,500 data points, and 15 war bonds. There are also some rubble piles around the buildings, so make sure you check them out. Then, from the second building, head down the stairs, and you will find a body under the stairs on your left.

There will also be some rubble piles on top of the platform. Now, only one more building remains on the northeast side. Head over there to find a body containing the Airjumper LEM, which reduces double jump stamina cost by 30 percent, along with some food and bullets. As you loot the building, more slashers and exploders will spawn, so take care of them before you continue.

Inside the building, there will also be a storage box containing war bonds, a damaged memory module worth 350 data points, and some ammo. At this point, you have collected almost everything there is in this area, so head back to your base and place everything into a storage box. You can also put some of the items into the analyzing station to gain data points.

Exploring The First Cave

cave entrance StarRupture
The cave entrance only opens after the Ruptura.

Now, you may have seen some roots that look like they can be broken while exploring. However, for now, there does not seem to be anything you can do to open them. That said, after the Ruptura, the planetary firestorm, or the massive explosions, the roots will no longer be there, and you will be free to enter.

Inside the cave, there will not be any monsters due to the explosion, so this is the best time to explore it. The cave I explored is east of where you were spawned at the beginning. To get there, head right from the pond and take the second right into an open, spacious area.

Loot The Quartz Ore And Glowcap Inside The Cave

location of the cave on the map StarRupture
Location of the cave on the map.

I have also attached an image of the location so you do not have any confusion about where to go. Once you have entered the cave, loot everything you see. You will find Glowcap, a plant, and some Quartz Blocks. Use your Harvester to mine them in order to get Quartz Ore, which is necessary to unlock Quartz Building Material. You can use your flashlight by pressing the T button on your keyboard.

Explore the entire cave and do not leave anything behind. There will not be that much loot inside, but once you have collected everything, head out through the hanging roots.

With that, this concludes part two of my StarRupture walkthrough. I will continue the next part of my StarRupture walkthrough from this point onward.
