StarRupture Walkthrough – Part 4

StarRupture walkthrough featured

StarRupture is an open-world base-building survival game featuring a first-person perspective. In this game, you are given a vast open world to explore, where you must survive by building different bases and fighting monsters. The game can also be played with friends, and it is currently in early access. For more information, head over to its Steam page.

Since the game is open world, there are many mysteries you will need to unravel, which require extensive exploration. In my previous StarRupture walkthrough, I reached the World Engine. This is where things can get a bit more complicated, as it is located far from your initial base and is filled with numerous enemies.

Here, I will provide a complete walkthrough to progress further and, hopefully, uncover what the World Engine is all about in StarRupture.

Disclaimer

As StarRupture is an open-world base-building game, this walkthrough is based on my experience and how I chose to progress through the game. You may adopt a different approach, and that is absolutely okay. You may have developed an item more quickly than I did or discovered some materials before I did. That is pretty common in such games, where you have access to a vast open world and many different progression paths.

Note

In this StarRupture walkthrough, I will progress further to explore the areas around the world engine and find more blueprints.

StarRupture Walkthrough – Make Another Base For Convenience

New area StarRupture

In my last StarRupture walkthrough, I reached the World Engine, so I’ll be continuing from there. Since this area is far away from your initial base, dying here means you will have to travel a long distance to return. It is, therefore, a good idea to build a base near the World Engine so that, after dying, you are at least close to it.

This area is also filled with a lot of vermin, so your character may die more frequently. The normal vermin are not too problematic, but the Goliath is the main threat. This monster is a powerful type of vermin that can take out most of your health in a single hit. Make sure to set up a regeneration chamber and place your respawn point correctly to handle this threat.

Once you have built another base, it is time to explore the area around the World Engine. You will need a large supply of bullets, so prepare accordingly. Try to have at least two weapons, preferably both automatic. If that is not possible, do not worry. Just make sure you have plenty of ammunition for the weapons you already own.

Head Back To Your Base To Get More Ammo

Note

If you do not want to make the long journey back to your old base and then return, I have a tip for you. Empty your inventory and store everything in your new base, then allow a vermin to defeat you in combat. If you are having trouble finding vermin, reboot the geo scanner, and your character will die almost immediately. Before doing this, make sure to remove the regeneration chamber from your new base so that you will respawn at your initial base (not 100 percent necessary). After that, you will only need to travel back to this area to continue collecting Oxallop.

Now, you will need to make a long journey if you run out of ammo. I did not run out of ammo, but all I had left were pistol rounds, which are not very helpful in this area. You definitely need heavy or standard ammo.

To make that ammo, you will need certain materials, which can take a long time to craft from scratch at your new base. It is therefore better to head back to your old base to make the ammo. Make sure to bring at least one automatic weapon, as surviving without it will be extremely difficult.

Once you are done with the preparations, head back to the new base. It is now time for some exploration.

Note

If you go along with my tip and let the enemy defeat you so you can respawn at the initial base, you should immediately use the med tool. That is because you will respawn with only 10 health, extremely low calories, and hydration. So, after you use the med tool, immediately eat something to gain calories and hydration.

Exploring The Area Around The World Engine

geo scanner from far StarRupture

You may have noticed calcium deposits in the area near your base. To the left of the deposits is a pond, and to the north, at the top, is the geo scanner. Head over to the scanner and interact with it to reboot it. That said, there will be a large number of vermin attacking you, so unless you want the map of the area at all costs, I do not recommend interacting with it just yet.

If you do want the map, fight off the vermin and then wait for the scanner to reboot. Do not run too far away from the scanner, or you will have to repeat the entire process.

Finding Oxallop (Consumable)

oxallop StarRupture

In this area, I came across a new type of consumable called Oxallop. This consumable restores 20 hydration but also adds 10 toxicity. That said, it is necessary to make some of the food in the food station, so I will explain where to find it.

Remember the giant pond to the left of the World Engine? That is where you will find Oxallop. If you have already been there, you may have noticed that there is nothing that looks like Oxallop, and that is because it is hidden.

Wait For Rupture To Trigger

You will need to return to this area after a Star Rupture. Once the big explosion is over and you are free to roam the world, head over to the pond, where you will find tons of Oxallop. The explosion has vaporized all of the water in the pond, revealing what was underneath. Be sure to collect all of it.

Recipes Oxallop Is Necessary In

Oxallop is necessary for making all of the block capsule recipes. If you want to unlock and craft the Calorie Block Capsules, Aqua Block Capsules, Clear Capsules, Energy Boost Capsules, and Regen Capsules, you will need this consumable. There are almost certainly more locations where Oxallop can be found, but this is the only place I have discovered so far.

Exploring Around The World Engine

Now, you need to explore a little around the world engine to find some valuable items. If you have already activated the geo scanner, head to the right side. To be precise, cross the calcium deposit and then head right up the path. You may face some enemies, and if you do, defeat them.

Note

Activating the geo scanner in this area is not extremely necessary right now. However, if you want to discover each biome and the unknown regions, then you should go for it. As enemies occur way too often in this area, try using the grenade you have to blow them off in a bulk group. This will help you a lot in combat and also save you some time overall.

Keep heading right from the calcium deposit and continue up the path. Eventually, to your left, you will notice a giant structure with railings.

Finding The Entrance to The World Engine

destroyed rails StarRupture

The railings on the bottom side will be broken, so you can use them to enter inside. Head inside from there, and on the northeast side, you will find an audiocom. There will also be a body right next to it containing an Accumulator, crafted in the assembler, and clear capsules.

To the right of the body will be the entrance to the world engine. However, there will be no power, so you will have to craft a power cell in order to get inside. At the end of the place will be a rubble pile containing another accumulator and an item worth 1,500 data points.

After collecting the items inside, head out. Follow the path to the left, and you will eventually reach a destroyed base.

Looting Everything Inside The Destroyed Base

destroyed base StarRupture

There will be some buildings lying on the ground containing food or other items, so make sure you collect everything. The first one will have an Aqua Bar and a Nutri Bar, and there will be a body under the platform. It will be opposite the first fallen building.

hardening agent blueprint StarRupture

The body will have a Lesser Reloader LEM, which increases reload speed by 12 percent, five war bonds, and some ammo. If you have a slot, I recommend using this LEM, as increased reload speed matters a lot when you are being swarmed by monsters.

There will be a lot of loot in this area, so make sure you explore everything. The one thing you must pick up is the Hardening Agent Blueprint. It can be found on the north side of the area inside a storage box. A rotor blueprint will also be inside, but you may already have it.

Exploring A Little Further Away From The World Engine

Now that you know about the entrance to the world engine and have looted many things around this area, it is time to head a little farther away. From the destroyed base you just looted, head left and go up the path. Follow the path to the right and keep moving forward.

Eventually, you will find a way to go down the mountain. Slide down that path, and you may notice another outpost to the north. This seems like a good place to start a base, so I recommend placing the base core here and setting up a normal-type base. Since there are many items around, this is a good location.

base core StarRupture

Make a base right next to the geo scanner, put your items inside the storage box, and it’s time to scan the area. On the back side of the geo scanner, you will also find a new plant or consumable called Prism Herb. Eating it raw will only give you toxicity, so that is not recommended.

prism herb StarRupture

However, it has many uses when unlocking and making food in the recipe station. You will need Prism Herb to make Calorie Chew, which gives 40 calories; Aqua Chew, which gives 100 hydration; Nutri Chew, which gives 30 calories and 40 hydration; Energy Boost Chew, which triples natural energy regeneration and lasts for 30 minutes, also gives you 40 toxicity and does not stack with other regeneration effects; and Infection Res Plant, which doubles natural infection resistance, lasts 10 minutes, and gives you 40 toxicity.

Activating The Geo Scanner

infected geo scanner StarRupture

Now, as the enemies are going to appear in extremely large numbers, I will explain two methods for activating this geo scanner. You can either do it the normal way by activating it and defeating any vermin that comes your way. While that is doable, you may have a tough time with it and may have to restart a few times if the vermin manages to successfully infect the geo scanner.

This way, you will struggle more and also waste plenty of your time. I have made these mistakes myself, so I recommend that you do not do the same. Instead, there is a different method that I recommend, and it is going to be very easy.

Alternative Method Of Activating The Geo Scanner

geo scanner secured StarRupture

The alternative method of activating the geo scanner may take a little time, but it is well worth it. You will just have to follow a few steps, and once they are done, defeating the vermin will be simple.

Start Building Platforms Around The Geo Scanner And Make It Secure

First, build some platforms around the geo scanner, and then place pillars around it. The pillars will work as walls to prevent the monsters from getting in. Two layers of pillars should be more than enough. This way, the slashers will not be able to do any damage to the geo scanner.

That said, you need to be careful and accurate. Make sure not to leave too much space where vermin can enter. You can also create more layers, as after you have successfully managed to reboot the scanner, you will have to remove everything. So do not worry about overbuilding; you just need to protect it from the vermin.

At the top of the pillars, create some platforms. Then, stand on top of those platforms, and you will be able to shoot the monsters from there. This will make things much easier for you.

Activating The Geo Scanner

Note

If you make only one pillar vertically, vermin will be able to jump onto the top of the platform. However, if you make two pillars, one on top of the other, they will not be able to jump to the top. That said, getting to the top of the pillar can be a little troublesome then. I went with single pillars, as the enemies could not really attack the scanner that much.

Once you have activated the scanner, vermin will spawn. They will appear in large numbers, maybe the largest you have seen so far. So stay at the top of the platforms and shoot them using your machine gun. An automatic gun is very useful here, so I do not recommend using anything else.

You can also use your grenade if too many vermin are attacking at the same time. This will help you take all of them out very quickly. Once the geo scanner is done rebooting, you can finish the process and activate the antenna.

Note

Near your base, there will be a big pond, and after the big explosion, the water will evaporate. As the water evaporates, you will be able to find tons of Oxallop. I found 39, so you should be able to get a similar amount. You will also find a body containing war bonds, health shards, and one more item.

Heading Toward the Abandoned Outpost

You may have noticed an abandoned outpost north of the geo scanner. That is going to be our next stop, so let’s head there. As you reach the outpost, a surprise will be waiting for you. You will notice a giant vermin that can defeat you in just two shots. The name of this vermin is Goliath, and it is going to be a pain to defeat if you don’t know what you are doing.

How To Defeat Golaith In StarRupture

Goliath seems extremely intimidating, and it is. Its attacks are brutal, and its speed is incredible. However, there is a pretty easy way to defeat the Goliath. When you approach the outpost, tons of vermin will start running toward you. The best strategy here is to run away.

golaith StarRupture

However, do not run toward your base, because if the vermin start following you, they can infect the base, which will cause you to lose your shield until you disinfect it. So, once you have maintained some distance from the vermin, defeat the smaller ones first.

When done, let the Goliath approach you. Now, you need to be most careful of its charged attack. Goliath will charge toward you by combining both of its shields together, and this attack deals a tremendous amount of damage. You can dodge it by pressing the Left Alt key, but make sure you are also giving either the left or right movement input. Once you have dodged it, you can start attacking the Goliath.

golaith defeated StarRupture

That said, every bullet you shoot at its body will be deflected. So how do you defeat it? Look at the back of the Goliath—that is where its brain is. You can even defeat it with a pistol. Even if the Goliath is near you, you can press Left Alt to dash to the other side and shoot the brain.

This way, this annoying and intimidating enemy can be defeated very easily.

Heading Back To The Outpost

valve blueprint StarRupture

Once you have defeated the Goliath, it is time to head back to the abandoned outpost. Head inside the building to the left, and on the ground floor, you will find some food. Then, go up the stairs and open the storage box. Inside the storage box will be a Tube Blueprint, which you will most likely already have, and there will also be a Valve Blueprint. Alongside that, there will be a security lodger worth 1,500 data points and some war bonds.

There will also be a body to the left containing an Endurancegiver LEM, which increases max stamina by 50, some war bonds, and a damaged memory module worth 350 data points. Now, from the first floor, sprint and double jump to the first floor of the other building.

Inside, you will find a body containing a Lesser Aimer LEM, which increases aim speed by 20 percent, some war bonds, and bullets. There are two small storage boxes containing food and more ammo. There are also some rubble piles around containing food, building materials, and chips. Be sure to thoroughly explore the area to loot everything.

Head Back To The Base

Now, as you have looted everything, head back to your base and put everything inside the storage except the food and the bullets you want to keep. Then, it is time for some more exploration. Head back to the abandoned outpost and go north from there. You will encounter some reddish plants that drain your energy, so make sure to double jump over them.

Activating Another Geo Scanner

Shortly after, you will come across a titanium deposit, and right next to it will be a Geo Scanner. You can build another base core here and follow the same method of rebooting the scanner, but it will take time and resources. If you have a machine gun and a shotgun, you shouldn’t have any problem dealing with the vermin.

However, if you are having trouble, building a base will be worth it. If you attempt it without building a base, make sure you have a regeneration setup at your main base. You also have to claim the regeneration chamber, and once you are ready, head back to the Geo Scanner.

The Geo Scanner is most likely to be infected, so focus on shooting the blue flesh first and then activating it. Now, go around the titanium deposit and head to the top. Shoot down the exploders first, and then take care of the slashers. Also, be careful of the flinger vermin, as they will be shooting at the Geo Scanner from a distance.

Heading Up To Another Abandoned Outpost

East of the geo scanner is another abandoned outpost, so head there. However, prepare as much ammo as you can, as there are going to be way too many vermin over there. Not only that, there are going to be two Goliaths, so it is going to be a little challenging.

Once you are at the base, you will have to defeat over a hundred vermin. That is not going to be the major problem. The two Goliaths, if they attack you at once, make retreating the best option. So try to fight only one at a time, and before that, make sure to defeat all of the other vermin.

As the Goliath can take out your shield and some of your health in a single hit, you need your shield at all costs. So no matter what, fight them alone and at close range. If you continue to dash behind the Goliath, it will not have the time to attack you. Defeat them both this way, and then start looting the area.

Start Looting The Area

Head to the triple-story building you see and loot the ground floor. There will not be much, so then head up the stairs, and you will find some useful items inside the storage box. Then loot the body; you will find the Lesser Slider LEM (increases stamina regen during slide by 35 percent), an Unknown Module (worth 2,000 datda points), and some ammo.

Also, there will be five war bonds inside the destroyed item printer, so make sure to get those too. Then, head up the stairs again, and you will find a storage box. Inside the storage box, you will find blueprints of electronics and a stator. There will also be 30 war bonds and one Frame Memory Module (worth 7,000 datda points).

East of the building will be a body containing the Greater Detoxifier LEM (reduces toxicity intake by 45 percent), 15 war bonds, and ammo. If you want more loot, you can go ahead, but I ran out of ammo, so I retreated. So this seems like a good point to finish my fourth walkthrough of StarRupture.
