StarRupture is an open-world, first-person game with a strong focus on base building. Since the game takes place in a large open world, there is a lot of exploration involved, and you will also need to fight various enemies along the way. The combat system is quite advanced, so you are not likely to get bored while engaging in fights. For more information about the game, you can head over to its Steam page.
As you build your base and explore the world, it can sometimes be difficult to figure out what to do next when you get stuck. This is where starting with the basics becomes important, as you need to gradually learn your way around the game systems and mechanics. In this guide, I will provide a walkthrough of the first few hours of StarRupture, which should help you understand the core mechanics and have a better overall experience.
Disclaimer
As StarRupture is an open-world base-building game, this walkthrough is based on my experience and how I chose to progress through the game. You may adopt a different approach, and that is absolutely okay. You may have developed an item more quickly than I did or discovered some materials before I did. That is pretty common in such games, where you have access to a vast open world and many different progression paths.

StarRupture Walkthrough – Start The Session And Select Your Character

For starters, you will have to start the session and select a character. I selected the soldier, but you can go with anyone you want to. After that, a cutscene will begin, and once it ends, you will be introduced to some of the basic features of the game. Take some time to look around and familiarize yourself with the surroundings, then head outside. Make sure to pick up the survival food pack from your personal storage, as this will help you get started.
Start Building Your Base

Exit the lander and sprint straight ahead. You need to explore the island to find a meteor, and it should not be too hard to locate. If you head north, you will quickly notice a meteor. Use the Harvester to collect the small chunks from the meteor, and once the process is complete, you will obtain different items along with a Meteor Heart.
Tip
I recommend finding the different colored spots on a meteor and harvesting them first. This will speed up the overall process of harvesting the meteor.
Once you are done with that, it is time to build a base. Follow the instructions on screen and set up a base camp. This will be the central point of your base, so make sure to choose a location where you want to establish it. After setting it up, you will be tasked with collecting titanium ores and Wolfram ores.
Produce Basic Building Materials

The titanium ores can be found right next to the meteor you just destroyed, while the Wolfram ores can be found with a bit of exploration. They are orange in color, so they are easy to identify.
Once you have at least 12 of each, head back to your lander and use the Basic Item Printer. Use the printer to produce Basic Building Materials. You will need 120 of these for now, so make sure to print enough before returning to your new base. After this, you will receive some fairly simple tasks, such as setting up your habitat.
Do so and build all the necessary machines inside your habitat. Once you have created the Corporate Terminal, claim your level one awards. This will unlock the Orbital Cargo Launcher, Solar Generator, and Basic Platforms.
Setting Up The Solar Generators

After you have claimed the rewards, head outside and set up your solar generators. I set up three of them, so you can do the same, but make sure they are placed close together and positioned in direct sunlight. Next, build an Orbital Cargo Launcher right next to them so it can be powered by the solar generators. Then, select a commission in the OCL and supply it with the required items.
Complete Your First Commission

The first commission will only require a few Titanium Ores. Place them inside the OCL, and you will reach level two. After that, head back to the Corporate Terminal and collect your rewards. When that is done, head outside again and place an Ore Excavator on a Titanium ore deposit. Make sure to properly connect the Ore Excavator to your OCL.
After this, select another commission in the OCL. Once it is completed, you will reach level three. Upon reaching level three, you will unlock the Analyzing Station. Return to your habitat and construct the Analyzing Station. Then, explore the planet to locate some plants. You can find many nearby, so collect everything you see and bring it back to the station for analysis.
Reaching Level Five And Finishing The Training

You can also analyze other objects, such as the Meteor Heart, to gain a large number of data points. To level up, you will need at least 50 data points. Once you have enough, open your Corporate Terminal, select the second option, and level up. If you manage to collect 100 more data points, you may be able to level up again right away.
Collect your rewards, and now it is time to set up a smelter. Build a smelter, then deconstruct the rail connection between the OCL and the Ore Excavator. After that, connect the smelter to both of them and select the Titanium Bar recipe. You will need to produce 20 Titanium Bars. Once you have completed this commission, you will reach level five. Collect the rewards, and your training will be completed.
Building Up More Ore Excavators And OCLs

Now that the training is over, it is time to develop your base a little more. Set up another Ore Excavator and an OCL for Wolfram ores. You can choose different corporations and complete their tasks to level up. Each corporation has a different leveling path, but the EXP required to level up is the same across all of them. Different corporations provide different materials, so leveling up each one is important.
Remember that you can always use data points obtained from analyzing items to help you level up. What I did was build four more OCLs and two smelters in total. One smelter was dedicated to Titanium, and the other to Wolfram ore. This boosted my production so quickly that I was able to level up at a very fast pace.
Note
Midway through your progress, an event called Star Rupture will occur. This event causes a massive explosion on the planet, which is lethal to your character. Your character cannot survive the attack, and there are several aftereffects of the explosion. For more information, you can read my complete guide explaining this event .
Leveling Up In Different Corporations

One OCL can be used to complete a commission for a specific corporation. You can use a second OCL to complete another commission for the same corporation, but it is generally better to choose a different one. Also, make sure to build proper paths and place your buildings on top of them. This improves traversal and also makes your base look much cleaner. It will also help you align structures more easily.
Build A Fabricator

Once you unlock the Fabricator, you will be able to craft Calcite Sheets, Titanium Rods, and Wolfram Wire. The rest of the items will remain locked for now. Craft whichever items you need to level up further. I personally made Titanium Rods to continue leveling up in the Selenian corporation.
You do not need to manually remove the rods from the Fabricator. Simply connect the Fabricator to a rail connector and then link it to one or more OCLs. This will greatly speed up the process. You also do not need to worry too much about the 1500 EXP requirement, as it can be completed fairly quickly.
Boost Up The Production Time
If you have multiple OCLs in your base and are not short on materials, progression will not take much time. This is why I suggested setting up two Ore Excavators and building more OCLs, as it creates a much smoother experience overall. If production feels slow, you can always set up another Fabricator. Do not worry about materials, since smelters work extremely fast, and supplying resources to support multiple Fabricators is not difficult at this stage.
How To Unlock Storage Depot Level 1

Note
A Storage Depot’s work isn’t just to store the materials for you. You can use them instead of rail connectors, and they work pretty accurately for that purpose. Storage Depots will send the items to the OCLs in equal distribution, and they have a lot of space available for rails. So, you can not only use them as storage units, but also as a reliable replacement for the standard rail connectors in your setup.
Complete The Commission For Clever Robotics

As you continue progressing through the game, you will start collecting more and more materials. You cannot keep everything in your inventory, so you will eventually need a Storage Depot. You can unlock the level 1 Storage Depot by reaching level three in Clever Robotics, which is a drone and logistics corporation.
This may take some time, as you will need to earn 1,500 points. However, with the right setup, it will not take too long. Focus on completing commissions efficiently, and once you reach the required level, claim your reward and place the Storage Depot in your base.
At first, the Storage Depot may not seem very impressive, since each one can only hold a few hundred units of a single material or item. Because of this, you will likely need to build several of them. Keep in mind that if you want items to be transferred automatically, you must connect the Storage Depot to the buildings you want the resources to come from. This will allow your production and storage systems to work smoothly without manual management.
How To Unlock The Recipe Station

Now you need to unlock the Recipe Station, which is not tricky at all. I did mention earlier that you should not focus on just one corporation, but it can still feel a bit overwhelming to manage all of them at once. Because of this, it is perfectly fine to progress step by step, as this approach helps you stay organized and avoid feeling overwhelmed.
To unlock the Recipe Station, you need to reach level two in the Moon Energy Corporation. Reaching this level is not difficult if you follow the earlier advice about building more OCLs and setting up the right number of Excavators and smelters. You only need two smelters, but make sure to build multiple OCLs, as they greatly speed up the leveling process.
Leveling Up In The Moon Energy Corporation
To level up in the Moon Energy Corporation, you need to complete a commission that involves sending Titanium Bars. This should not be a problem, since you can use your smelters to send Titanium Bars directly into the OCLs. Once the commission is complete and you reach level two, claim the reward from the Corporate Terminal and build the Recipe Station inside your habitat.
Unlocking More Recipes In The Recipe Station

Remember the many items that were locked in the Fabricator earlier. You can unlock them through the Recipe Station, but you will need to insert the required items. These materials would be common now, so you are most likely to already have them. Grab them from your storage or directly from your production buildings and unlock more recipes.
You will also see an option to unlock the Calcium Ore recipe, but calcium deposits are not very close to your base at this stage. It is best to ignore that for now and focus on unlocking the Fabricator recipes instead. Some recipes also require Data Points, so make sure to analyze additional items when needed.
Do not rush through the game and play at your own pace. Going too fast can make everything feel cluttered and confusing, so take your time and enjoy the progression.
Progressing To Set Up A Food Source

Now, to unlock features related to your health, you need to focus on the Future Health Solution corporation, which specializes in pharmaceuticals and medical technology. You will need to reach level six in this corporation to unlock the Food Station. To do that, you will need to craft Wolfram Plates, which can be produced using the Fabricator.
Connect the Fabricator to the Excavator that is mining Wolfram ore, then start producing the plates. Once production begins, select the appropriate commission in the OCL, and the leveling process will begin.
Unlocking The Wolfram Plate Recipe

At this point, you may not have the Wolfram Plate recipe unlocked yet. However, unlocking it is fairly simple. Head over to the Recipe Station and insert the required materials. If you do not have enough Data Points, you can always analyze more items to earn additional points. Do that, unlock the recipe, and continue with your progress.
Crafting The Wolfram Plates To Complete The Commission

Once the recipe is unlocked, begin crafting the Wolfram Plates. Do note that you may need to reorganize your base slightly, but this is not difficult or time-consuming. You can easily deconstruct and rebuild structures without any penalty. You will not lose your materials, and if a building was storing items, you will get all of them back. This makes reorganizing your base very convenient.
After you reach level six in Future Health Solution, the Food Station will be unlocked (you will have to craft more materials like Wolfram Power, but it is alright if you can’t reach level six yet). This is a crucial building for progression, as your character needs food to survive. Without food, your character will repeatedly die, and after respawning, the health bar will be very low. Because of this, setting up a Food Station as soon as possible is essential for long-term survival.
You don’t really have to build a Food Station yet, as it will take some time. That said, if you want some alternatives on how to reduce your hydration, you can use Hydrobulb, a plant designed for that purpose. For more information, check out my guide on how to get access to food quickly.
How To Unlock Your First Weapon

Now, in order to unlock your first weapon, a pistol, you either need to develop calcium blocks or Wolfram Bars. I don’t recommend developing calcium blocks right now, as they are a little hard and complicated to obtain at this stage. You may have to build an entirely new base for the production of items built with calcium, since the resource is located pretty far away from your current base. You also won’t be able to build a core excavator on top of the calcium blocks, as it will most likely be outside the base core area and therefore unusable.
Complete The Commission For Griffith Blue Corporation
So, it is better that you go with Wolfram one, as you already have access to that resource. Choose the commission and start the production of Wolfram Bars. This won’t take much time, as you only need 200 points to reach level two. When you are done, claim the reward from the portal, and you will have your first weapon.
You don’t have to build a pistol, as it will automatically be equipped. However, you will have to make some ammo, which you can do in the basic Item Printer. Use the Basic Building Printer to make some ammo, and now it is time for some exploration.
Note
I didn’t explore the planet earlier mainly because most of the items needed for the initial progression can be found in nearby locations. However, since the open world of this game is huge, exploration is a must, as it will be rewarding in many ways. That said, there are going to be several enemies, so to ensure survival, making a weapon first is essential. Now that we have our first weapon, let’s head out into the wilds and begin exploring.
Exploring The Planet To Discover New Items And Enemies

Now, as you have access to a gun, head out of your base and start exploring the planet. You can go anywhere you want and collect as many items as possible. I recommend picking up anything you come across, as there is no need to hurry at this stage. After a few minutes of exploration, I found some monsters that appeared out of nowhere.
There weren’t that many of them, and it didn’t take a lot of effort to defeat them. Just a couple of shots per monster was enough, so you won’t have much trouble dealing with them. The gunplay isn’t perfect, but it is actually pretty cool, smooth, and fairly solid, especially if you are playing on keyboard and mouse.
Head Back To The Base After Exploration
There are some plants, like the yellowish ones, that can be found in the environment. Touching them causes damage. They build up a certain effect called drain, and when it is filled, your character will be damaged, so it is better that you don’t stand on them for too long. Keep note of where you are going, so you will be able to find your way back to your base later.
Start heading back after doing some exploration. It may seem like your base is going to be hard to find at first, but just start running toward the direction you came from, and shortly after that, you will see a giant beacon in the sky. That beacon marks your base, so head over there and return safely.
That is pretty much all for my part one of the StarRupture walkthrough. In my next StarRupture walkthrough, I will start from exactly where I left off in this one.
