Stonemachia Walkthrough – Sacrigera Fortress

Sacrigera Fortress featured Stonemachia

Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough of Stonemachia, Sacrigera Fortress.

Stonemachia is a soulslike game where you play as a chess piece, the pawn, who can transform into other pieces. You will need to fight the angels, and your aim is to return to heaven. For more information, head over to its Steam page.

As this is a soulslike game, there may be many challenges that you stumble upon. To help you overcome those challenges, we will provide you with a walkthrough of the game. This is going to be Part 1 of the Stonemachia walkthrough, featuring Sacrigera Fortress.

Stonemachia – Sacrigera Fortress Walkthrough

Once the game is started, you will have to choose between four classes. Go with The Pawn as it is going to be the most balanced one.

Then, you will spawn in a battlefield where you will have to fight multiple enemies. This is just a tutorial section, so follow along, collect the feathers, defeat the enemies, and learn the basics. Parrying is an important mechanic in this game, so make sure you use it often to get the timing down properly.

After you have cleared out many of the enemies, you will have to fight a boss, Zerafim.

How To Defeat Zerafim, Heaven Ripper

Zerafim Stonemachia

Zerafim has some wide and heavy swings, so parrying this boss is going to be both better and easier. Some of its attacks may not even hit you because Zerafim moves around a lot. So, getting lucky can be considered part of the fight. That said, do not blindly keep attacking and always watch out for its swings.

This boss can even perform multiple swings at once in the same circular motion, so be wary of that as well. Another move you need to be careful of is when Zerafim performs a rotating slash and then gets into a slashing stance again after moving in the opposite direction. It will slash once, and then after the second slash, it will move back slightly.

However, that is bait because Zerafim will immediately charge another slash and hit you. This boss is going to be difficult, but do not worry, because you will not actually have to defeat it. Just after you have depleted around 30 percent of its health, a cutscene will commence.

Once the cutscene is over, you will arrive at the Sacrigera Fortress.

Navigate Through The Sacrigera Fortress

From here, head straight ahead, collect some white feathers, and shortly after, you will have to face some enemies. Fighting them is better because that way you will get more familiar with the combat. You do not have to defeat all of the enemies, but for now, you should definitely fight at least some of them.

Defeat them, move ahead, collect the feathers, and there will be another opponent waiting for you. Defeat it too, keep moving ahead, defeat another enemy, and then you will encounter an enemy shooting projectiles. Dodging works much better against this enemy, so dodge the projectiles and defeat it.

Then defeat another enemy and make sure not to get hit by it because the health loss will be massive. Continue ahead and move through the slams. From there, go forward and interact with the black shield-like object floating in the air.

Defeat The Sea Gargoyle

As you interact with that object, a boss will spawn, and you will now have to defeat it. Parry the first hit, and you will have a huge opening to deal some damage. Similarly, parry the next hits, and the Gargoyle will become stunned. The stun does not last very long, but it is enough to deal a lot of damage.

This boss has wide swings, so parrying them is extremely rewarding. Also, note that if you get hit by that dual-handed overhead slam, you are likely going to lose your entire health bar. So either dodge it or, if you are confident enough, parry it for a huge damage opportunity.

Using this tactic, defeat the boss, move ahead, and then interact with the giant feather. From there, continue forward, stand on the chessboard, and interact with it to level up. After leveling up, move ahead while defeating the enemies, and then head up the stairs to find another chessboard.

Keep Exploring The Sacrigera Fortress

From the chessboard, move ahead, wait for the conversation to finish, and then defeat the enemies. As the giant moves toward the wall to break it, use that time to collect the feathers, and once the giant is done, go through the broken wall.

Keep moving ahead, and you will find another enemy. Defeat it and then head left. Go across the tree and then enter through the small passage on the right. Continue ahead, head right again, and there will be a statue waiting ahead. As you move close to it, it will aggro, and you will then have to fight it.

vinyl Sacrigera Fortress Stomemachia

It has a moveset similar to the Gargoyle, so defeat it and then continue ahead. You do not necessarily have to defeat it, though. Move ahead and interact with the vinyl on the left to open the gate. Head to the opposite side to collect some feathers and then continue forward. There is going to be a giant enemy here, but ignore it for now.

Defeat the enemy shooting projectiles first because it will otherwise make the fight extremely annoying. Then fight the giant enemy and defeat it. This enemy only looks intimidating because the fight itself is not very difficult. Simply parry the attacks, and shortly after, it will go down.

Make Your Way Ahead

After defeating the enemy, head to the left side of the area to collect the giant feather. As you pick it up, the statues will come to life and attack you. They will approach together, so parrying even one of them is going to stun all of them. Defeat them and then head right from the place where you collected the giant feather.

Continue ahead, and you will find some small enemies along with the Gargoyle once again. Defeat them if you want, or simply keep moving ahead. Do note that the small enemies carrying the red blades are much more challenging to handle because they deal tremendous damage.

Unlock The Shortcut

If your fight keeps getting interrupted by projectiles, head up the stairs and take care of that enemy first. However, if you stay on the left side, it will not bother you much. Then continue ahead, defeat the enemy, and a shortcut will be unlocked. Head back to the chessboard to upgrade and then return.

On the way, you will see an elevator. Activate it to go up, and there will be a Gargoyle, which you can either fight or ignore. Fighting it is obviously better because of the feathers. Whatever you choose, continue ahead, and there are going to be more enemies waiting for you. These enemies delay their attacks a lot, so make sure to time your parries carefully.

Then move ahead, go up the stairs, defeat the enemies to unlock the path, and continue through it. Shortly after, you will have to face another boss.

Note: After unlocking the door by defeating the key-shaped enemy, you can head left and find another giant. Open the door, and many enemies will appear. Since the giant is afraid of those enemies, it will jump and unlock the path to the boss room from there. So, if you want, you can unlock the path this way too.

Defeat Centaur Furcifel

ventaur furcifel Sacrigera Fortress Stomemachia

At first glance, this boss may look difficult, but it really is not. It may actually be the easiest boss so far because defeating it is surprisingly simple. It does not matter if you fail a few times. Take a couple of attempts and learn the parry timings. The overhead slash is going to be easy to parry because you can see it coming very clearly.

However, the real problem comes from the side slashes. Those can be tricky, but after a few attempts, you will get used to them. So, parrying and dealing damage is going to be the best strategy here. Also, whenever the boss moves back and creates distance, it will jump into the air to perform an overhead slam.

The attack that can really catch you off guard is the single slam it performs after stepping back slightly and immediately attacking. This boss also has an attack where it crosses both swords before performing an outward slash.

It is better to dodge this attack, but if you want to parry it, do so right when the swords are about to open up. Once you have defeated the boss, continue ahead and jump down. Use the chessboard if you want, and then head right. Jump through the rocks to continue forward, and along this path, you will find a giant feather.

Completing The Area

Once you have collected that, head back and from the chess board go left. Head up the path, defeat the enemies, and make sure to defeat the one carrying the card. Once you reach the top, head inside the building and use the staircase to go upstairs. As you go up, a cutscene will begin, and the Sacrigera Fortress walkthrough in Stonemachia will come to an end.
