Sunken Engine is a ship repair simulator, but it has a Lovecraftian horror twist to it. Your father died and left you his old shipyard on some creepy island. And now you’re stuck fixing boats while weird supernatural stuff happens around you.
What makes this game interesting is that it’s not only about the repair work itself, but dealing with the fact that something is very wrong with this place. Your father apparently got trapped in a cursed book.
The basic loop is pretty straightforward. The ships arrive by fax machine. You accept the chop, and then the captain shows up. Each ship is usually a mess. You are cleaning up trash, scrubbing green gunk from the deck, scraping barnacles and shells, hammering bent metal parts back into shape, and fixing torn flags.

Chapters 1-3 in Sunken Engine are the last objective for The Book’s Call. You’re required to unlock the castle and descend into its depths. By the time you enter Chapter 1-3, your character is already at level 16.
Complete the contract, sell the items in the bazaar, buy upgrades, and unlock new skills to make progress in it. Repairing the ships grants you a huge chunk of XP, which is crucial for leveling up in Sunken Engine.
Completing the Book’s Call Chapter in Sunken Engine allows you to dive into the next chapter called After the Engine. You get inside the castle and witness the unusual experiment going on there on humans.
Read all the letters from the doctor’s office after completing Chapter 1-2 in Sunken Engine.
Get out of this room and interact with the Blackreef and select the castle location from there.
Get inside the castle on your right and read the letter from the table on the left side.
Take the stairs to make up and read another letter from the table over there.
Move back to the ground level and interact with the underground door to get inside.
You’ll find yourself in the basement after moving inside. Go down from the stairs, and you’ll see some sort of experiment going on.
Read the first letter you found on the ground and move forward to read the second one from the dice.
Once you’re done reading the second letter, the bodies in the large glass beaker will start punching to break it, and suddenly they all will die.
Someone will hit you from behind while standing there, and you’ll get inside Chapter 2 of Sunken Engine. As a side objective, you need to reach level 10.
Leveling up in Sunken Engine is directly tied to XP. You will gain XP for each task you do, from cleaning floors, collecting trash, lockpicking, fixing boats, and more. You will get different XP from each task, like picking trash gives 1XP and clearing the floor gives 5XP.
