Arriving at the Hotel

After the initial iconic cutscene, Kate Walker finds herself at the Hotel. Inspect the Suitcase and try to pick it up.

Kate Walker will note that she can’t pick it up and should ask for help.

Inspect the bulletin board on the wall behind the suitcase. Pick up the Pamphlet and read it for some lore information about the world.

Head to the left to find Momo sitting at the table. Talk to him and run through his dialogues

Then interact with the reception desk.

Pick up the Automaton Key on the table. Then use it on the back of the small automaton with the hammer.

Press the Red button to call the Hotelier. Talk to the Hotelier and run through his dialogue. Momo will run away from the Hotel during your conversation. You’ll also learn that Anna Voralberg, the person you came to see, has passed away. Eventually, the Hotelier will take you to your room.

Once the Hotelier leaves, pick up the Fax from the table with the lamp on the other side of the bed and read it.

Use your Phone to call Edouard Marson and deliver the news of Anna‘s passing. He’ll send you a Fax from the firm with the address for the Notary, Mr. Alfolter. Exit the room and go down using the stairs at the end of the hall.

Talk to the Hotelier once again and choose the Mission dialogue option. He’ll hand over the Fax. Pick it up from the desk and read it.

Head towards the table where Momo was sitting earlier. Inspect the table and pick up the four Gears (12-Notch Gear, 10-Notch Gear, 6-Notch Gear, 4-Notch Gear)

Exit the Hotel to arrive at Valadilene Main Street.
How to Reach The Notary’s Office

Run down to reach the main street and head along the road to the left.

You’ll meet a Baker along the way. But he says that the Patisserie is closed on account of Madame Voralberg‘s death.

Keep moving along the path past the Patisserie to reach the Notary’s Office. You’ll find a Newspaper on the left bench. Pick it up and then walk up the stairs and interact with the automaton at the door.

Place the Dear Mr. Alfolter Fax at the automaton’s hand. Then press the slider on its chest and pull the lever on the right.

You’ll see a short cutscene of Mr. Alfolter inspecting the Fax. He’ll let you into the building afterward. Pick up the Fax page when the cutscene ends and enter the building.

Head through a second door in the room to find Mr. Alfolter.

Take a seat and talk to Mr. Alfolter about the Mission. He’ll reveal that Hans Voralberg, Anna‘s brother, who was presumed dead, is in fact alive. His last known location is somewhere in Siberia.

Mr. Alfolter hands you the document, Anna’s Will. Pick it up. The conversation ends with Mr. Alfolter pointing you towards the Voralberg Factory Archives. He also asks you to pick up the Factory Key from the waiting room of his office.

Exit the room and pick up the Factory Key. Then exit the building.
Voralberg Assembly Factory

Reaching the main street, start making your way back towards the Hotel. When you run past the Patisserie, you’ll get a call from Dan, Kate Walker‘s fiancé. Answer the call and then keep moving toward the Hotel.

Run to the other side of the road just before you reach the Hotel to spot a wooden gate. This leads to the Voralberg Factory and your next destination. Interact with the door.

Use the Factory Key with the top automaton. Then interact with the key at the back of the bottom automaton. Pull the lever to unlock the door. Head inside.

Continue moving forward till you reach a water fountain. From here, the path splits off into four directions. We’ve marked them in the image above. Head toward the Loading Platform first.

Interact with the lever on the platform. This will activate a mechanism that will send the barrel on the platform to the factory.

Return to the water fountain and take the western path to reach the Voralberg Assembly Factory. Enter through the main door.
How to Restore Power to the Assembly Factory

From the entrance of the factory, take the path heading right from the door.

You’ll spot a door at the end of the path. Go inside.

Interact with the machinery in the room. Pull the lever, then move forward and interact with another lever in the front.

Return to the entrance door of the factory and head left, past the steel stairs. You’ll receive another phone call, this time from Kate’s Mom.

After hanging up the phone, interact with the Forklift up ahead and turn the Crank. This will transfer the barrel from the Loading Station to a device at the center of the Factory, restoring the power.
Oscar’s Request

After the cutscene, head toward the wooden door with the red signal light under it to the north and go inside.

You’ll enter a small workshop with an automaton hanging above. This is Oscar.

Move toward the pulley mechanism at the back of the room and interact with the device. Turn the Crank to release Oscar.

Speak to him afterward. Run through his dialogue. You’ll learn that he is the Train Conductor, and he’ll ask you to help manufacture a new set of feet for him, which are Model XZ20005_B. He’ll also give you his Punch Card to use in the Assembly Factory.
Anna Voralberg’s Office

Exit the workshop and head toward the entrance door. Take the steel stairs on the left to go up.

Enter the room at the top to reach Anna Voralberg’s Office.

Head towards the main desk and pick up the Train Blueprint, Anna’s Unfinished Letter, and the Bailiff Letter.

Next, head to the bookshelf with a patterned door in the office. Interact with the door to open it and look inside.

Click on the green book on the top shelf. Then pick up the Musical Cylinder from the Music Player on the middle shelf.
How to Make Oscar’s Feet

Exit Anna’s Office and head along the steel walkway. You’ll be able to go up another small set of stairs to an elevated platform.

This platform has a control panel that you can interact with. But before you work on the panel, inspect the blueprint pinned to the left wall.

Note the number and color of the wood for the XZ2005_B, which is the model of the feet that Oscar needs.

Inspect the control panel next. Insert Oscar’s Punch Card into the slot in the center, between the two levers.

Pull the left lever to rotate the cylinder until it matches the color of the wood that you saw on the blueprint. Then pull the switches 3, 4, and 1 in this order. Finally, pull the right lever.

You’ll watch a short cutscene of the two feet being manufactured. Once the cutscene ends, head down the stairs and go to the far end of the factory.

Head along the path and interact with the two feet on the left to collect Model XZ2005_B Legs.

Return to the workshop where you found Oscar and place the Model XZ2005_B Legs on the bench beside him. Oscar will thank you, attach the legs, and return to his duties as the Train Conductor.
Voralberg Estate

Now that you’ve helped Oscar, exit the Voralberg Assembly Factory and return to the water fountain. Then take the path that leads to the Voralberg Estate.

The door to the Estate is locked, so veer right and follow the stone path.

You’ll spot a ladder automaton on your left. Keep moving along the path and head to the end.

Inspect the stone basin at the end. You’ll spot an object at the basin. Pick it up to collect the Ladder Key.

Take the Ladder Key to the ladder automaton you saw earlier. Inspect the automaton and use the Ladder Key to activate it and reach the Attic.
Exploring The Attic

Head right, towards the screen. Interact with the table with the closed lid.

Click on the lid to open it. Then pick up Anna’s Book and the Ink Pot.

Back away from the table, and start heading up, towards the far end of the Attic. You’ll spot a light bulb at the end. Interact with it and pull the rope.
How to Draw a Mammoth for Momo

As soon as you turn on the light bulb, Momo walks into the room. He asks if you can draw a Mammoth for him.

Speak with Momo. He’ll hand you a piece of Drawing Paper.

Head to the far end of the room and interact with the wooden board with the Mammoth etching near the light bulb.

Use the Drawing Paper to place it over the wooden board. Then use the Ink Pot and keep clicking on the hotspots to make a Mammoth drawing. Pick up the Drawing Paper afterward.

Return to Momo and hand him the Drawing Paper. He’ll ask you to follow him so that he can show you his secret.

The next segment has you following Momo as he runs through the areas.
The Forest

Keep following Momo, and eventually, he’ll lead you to a wooden door in the Valadilene. The door is to the left-most part of the street, past the Notary Office.

Go through the wooden door, head up the stone staircase to the left, and keep moving forward through the forest.

You’ll find a boat washed up on the road along the way. Interact with it and pick up the Oar.

Stay on the path, and soon you’ll see Momo sitting on a rock. Speak with him and run through his dialogues. He’ll tell you of a Mammoth Doll in the Cave.
How to Find the Mammoth Doll in The Cave

After the conversation, head right, up the stone stairs.

Interact with the device at the top.

Click on the wooden stick. It’ll break. Then use the Oar you picked up earlier in the empty slot. Click the Oar to activate the wooden dam.

Return to where Momo is sitting and take the left path. Now that you’ve activated the Dam, the water has dissipated. So you can just head forward and enter the Cave.

Keep moving forward and you’ll soon find the Mammoth Doll on the floor, in a small clearing.

Exit the Cave, and you’ll get a call from Olivia. Answer the phone and listen to the conversation.
The Valadilene Church

Return to the Valadilene Main Street and start walking toward the Hotel. Instead of going inside, continue heading up the road.

You’ll eventually see a steel gate. This takes you to the Church. Head inside.

You’ll receive another phone call from Eduard Marson.

Once the conversation ends, head up and go right.

Head all the way to the end of the path and go in through the door on the left at the end.
How to Get the Priest’s Confession

You’ll enter the Priest’s Office. Head to the back of the room to spot a crucifix hanging on the wall. Go up and take a closer look at it.

Click the bottom part of the crucifix to move it out of the way. Pick up the Cabinet Key from the hole in the wall.

Back away and interact with the wooden cabinet in the room.

Use the Cabinet Key on the keyhole on the top-right part of the cabinet. Then open all five drawers to find three Punch Card Fragments.

When you open the middle drawer of the cabinet, click the lever on the right side of the cabinet to reveal a hidden compartment in the drawer. Pick up the Tomb Key and the Priest’s Confession note.

How to Enter the Tomb

Exit the Priest’s Office and start running towards the entrance of the Church. You’ll spot a door on the right. Walk up and interact with the panel next to it.

Use the Gears you picked up from Momo’s table in the Hotel at the start of the chapter to complete the puzzle. Check the image above to know which Gear goes where. Pull the crank when you’re done.

Interact with the door to go up to the Church’s Attic.

Interact with the automaton you find in the Attic.

Insert the Church Punch Card into the slot on its back. This will trigger a short cutscene.

Exit the attic, and take the left path from the entrance to reach the Tomb.

Interact with the door and use the Tomb Key you found in the Priest’s Office to open the gate. Head inside.

Inspect Hans Voralberg‘s coffin inside the Tomb. Pull it out by clicking on the handle.

Open the lid of the coffin. You’ll find a Valadilene Newspaper Cutting note, and the Valadilene Cylinder inside the empty coffin. Pick them up. Exit the Tomb when you’re done.
The Train Station

Head back to the Voralberg Assembly Factory and return to Anna’s Office. Interact with the cabinet that has the Music Player.

Use the Valadilene Cylinder you found with the Music Player. This will trigger a long cutscene.

Pick up the Hans-Anna Mechanical Toy and the Valadilene Cylinder once the cutscene ends.

Exit the Factory and head toward the Train Station.

Walk along the platform and get on the train from the side.

Enter the Train Compartment.

You’ll find Oscar standing near the door inside the train. Before you talk to him, go past him into the second compartment through the door.

Place the Hans-Anna Mechanical Toy in the middle pedestal in the compartment. You can also place the Mammoth Doll on the left cabinet and the Cylinders you’ve collected on the display case on the right.

Talk to Oscar about the Mission. He’ll ask you for a Ticket. Then he’ll say that the Ticket Office is open right now, and he’ll walk out of the Train.
How to Get a Train Ticket

Exit the Train and talk to Oscar again, now standing at the Ticket Office.

Choose Mission, and Oscar will give you a Train Ticket and an Exit Permit. Pick up both.

Exit the Train Station and run all the way back to the Notary Office on Valadilene Main Street. Loop around the front desk and interact with the device.

Place the Exit Permit on the table. Then open the head of the automaton and use your Ink Pot to fill it up with ink.

Press the red button to get an authorized seal on the Exit Permit. Take it and go back to the Train.
How to Leave Valedilene

Talk to Oscar and give him both the Exit Permit and the Train Ticket. He’ll say that the documents check out, but there’s still the matter of winding the Train. Unfortunately, he can’t recall how to do that.

Walk out of the Train and exit to the platform on the right this time.

Go up the platform and interact with the control panel on the left.

Click the valve in the middle to extend a winding mechanism to the train. Then pull the lever on the side to wind up the Train. Press the valve once again to retract the winding mechanism.

With that done, head back inside the Train. You’ll get another phone call from Dan. Give Oscar the Train Tickets when you’re inside to leave Valedilene.
