Tales of Seikyu Walkthrough: Entering Fox Ruins

Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for Tales of Seikyu.

In Tales of Seikyu, Fox Ruins is a unique area of interest where you can find tons of items to make exploration easier. After covering days 2 to 4, we’re continuing the main quest. Note that all the request boards are randomly generated.

This walkthrough will show you the ropes of Fox Ruins.

Requests Progression: What To Do

The Quests Section In The Menu.

If you’ve followed our previous walkthrough, covering days 2 to 4, we completed numerous requests from the board. After playing the game for a few more hours, I would suggest stalling them unless in need of extra money and relationship points.

Board Requests are recurring and present throughout the entire game; they depend on seasons too. So, if you want to farm levels and materials, go ahead and complete them. For now, this walkthrough will be focused entirely on the game’s story progression.

How To Unlock Fox Ruins in Tales of Seikyu

Talking To Yohji Outside Fox Ruins.

The Fox Ruins are located to the upper right of the Farmhouse. Check the map to find their location if you can’t locate it. There, talk to Yohji, and he will open up the path to the ruins, but there isn’t a story quest yet.

To activate a main quest for Fox Ruins, meet with the following characters:

  • Yoni
  • Shuten
  • Hephaestus
  • Sasaki
  • Miss Ama
  • Kinntarou
  • Prince
  • Nyotengu
  • Yohji
  • Liliana
  • Theo
  • Ritsuryo
  • Torleone
  • Tommy
  • Ivan
  • Seabert
  • Anna
  • Yui
  • Musashi

Once done, return to the farmland and check the mailbox; the bird on top will alert you. A letter from an unknown individual will ask you and Kon to visit Fox Ruins to find a family keepsake, intended only for the fox clan.

Now, go to the ruins and talk to Yohji. After he opens the entrance to the ruins, jump down.

Exploring Fox Ruins

The Portal To Fox Ruins.

The first room only has a single copper ore. Break it to end it. Move through the cave to reach a waterfall, where a legendary dancer, Gulu Bobo, will greet you. To check your reflexes, he’ll transform into barrels, and you’ll have to guess the correct one.

This concludes the second room, which opens up two doors to your left and right. You are free to explore the ruins for as long as you want, but if you’re pursuing the main quest, then follow the question mark icon on the map.

The left door leads to a cliff that’s currently impossible to cross. So, turn right, defeat the monsters, and gather everything you can. After going through the caves, you will meet Gulubo Queen. She will show you numerous tofus, and some of them will be glowing.

The answer to her question is 4.

Now, move forward and jump across the gap using the boar transformation. However, the door ahead is locked, and to open it, look to your left to find a fox statue, and put it at its doorstep. Return to the room with Inari’s art, and break every ore you can find to open the next path.

There, to progress the Fox Ruins further, you will have to make an offering to the altar; it is randomly generated. Find the correct items, and then donate them to open the next room.

Note: There's another room near the shrine that can be unlocked with a fox statue.

Go inside, defeat the monsters, and break all the ores to progress the ruins further. In the next room, doing the same process will complete it, and ahead, you will find another fox shrine. However, Gulubo Kenshi appears and asks you to take care of a Tanuki that’s stealing one of the transformation scrolls.

He will give you an armor, and then move forward. Break the copper ores to unlock the next door, and get ready to fight Anji, a Tanuki.

While she’s slow herself, her Slime form can deal significant damage if you stay in the smash radius. Keep some distance, and don’t stop attacking her. This should be a short fight.

After she retreats, a shrine will rise from the ground. Climb the staircase, and inside the chest, you will find the Slime Transformation scroll, allowing you to swim underwater.

Slime Transformation.

The slime transformation, as said above, allows you to explore further areas of Fox Ruins as it can swim underwater. Additionally, by pressing Shift, you can absorb all the dropped items and shoot them at enemies to deal staggering damage.

If you don’t have enough water in the water can, transforming into the Slime can help you. By shooting water bullets on the plants outside the Farmhouse, you can easily irrigate them without needing a water can.

The Mysterious Message

Opening Fox Transformation’s Scroll.

While this main quest was the central focus of this walkthrough, it would’ve been impossible to complete it without the slime transformation. Now that you have it, return to the first fox shrine inside Fox Ruins, and cross the gap ahead with the boar form.

Then, go through the waterfall using the slime form, and descend the cave. Defeat the monsters, and climb the shrine to your left to find the Fox Transformation scroll.

And with this, the quest comes to an end. You can return to Fox Ruins and continue exploring the rooms to find more transformations and rare items.

Controlling Enemies With The Fox Transformation.

Fox Transformation is the most important form that you can find in the game, as it’s connected to the story. It’s nimble, strong, and has the ability to control enemies. No matter the enemy, go near it and press Q to control it. With that, you can use their combos against their own kin or battle stronger enemies.

However, the control lasts for roughly 10 seconds, so make sure to use it in its best capacity.
