Thalassa: Edge of the Abyss Walkthrough – Boiler Room & Ending

Main Deck

On entering the Main Hall, open the door to your immediate left, leading to the staircase connecting the various decks of the ship.

Go up and unlock and open the doors along the way to allow easier access to the Officer’s Deck and the Garden Deck.

Then go back down and interact with the Jammed Stand, so that you’ll have access to the Crew Deck again. A vision unfolds here.

Crew Deck

Approach Alex first. Then, once she leaves the Locker Room, approach the door she exited from to have Bailey close the door.

Walk around the Locker Room until the vision ends.

When you come to, go behind the staircase you just came down from, and unlock the metal grate door leading to the Boiler Room.

Engineer Deck

Go right from the stairs to find the Boiler Room door, which is thoroughly blocked.

Continue through the corridor, past the Boiler Room door.

• Ruined door (area past the open door next to the sign “Fire Control”)

Now proceed through the corridor that opens near the Fire Control door.

Open the door to the Storage Room, which is the first door on the left.

We can now solve a couple of mysteries.

Return to the corridor now and proceed further until you get to an open door. This is the workshop, so enter it.

Clues in the Worskhop

• Fashion magazine (magazine lying open to the right of the green lockers)
• Lots of projects (pile of boxes lying to the right of the workshop cabinets)
• LP records (lying on table in the center of the room)
• Secret recording 2 (wax roll lying on the floor in the center of the room)
• Workshop corkboard (on the wall to the right as you enter the workshop)
• Note to Kaymar (note to the lower-right of the corkboard)
• Coffee mugs (mugs lying on a table to the right of the corkboard with the notes)

Now examine the second corkboard, which has several blueprints on it, to acquire a key and an idea to enter the boiler room.

We can now solve some mysteries, though, so let’s do that.

With these heavy-hitter mysteries all done, head back up to the Crew Deck. Go up the stairs to the Garden Deck.

Garden Deck

Here, you’ll find a ladder going up to the Bridge Roof. Use your key to unlock it.

Climb up the ladder and head over onto the glass dome. Go to the other end of the glass dome and drop down to reach the Maintenance Shaft.

• Kaymar interview 1b (wax roll lying on floor right after the door)

Now use the rope to head down to the Boiler Room.

Engineer Deck

Make your way to the catwalk on the side and follow the catwalk until you get to some stairs going down.

Clues in the Boiler Room (Center and Fore)

• Bloody trail (blood in the center of the Boiler Room)
• Fire hose (lying on the floor near the blood, in the center of the Boiler Room)
• Signs of fire (burn marks near the open door)
• Unused fire extinguishers (to the right of the open door)
• Investigation document (folder floating to the fore side of the boiler room)
• Colorful band (lying on floor to the fore side of the boiler room)
• A boot (lying on floor, near the stairs going up)
• New water gauge (toolbox lying on floor, near the stairs going up)
• Round glasses (stuck on railing of stairs going up)

Clues in the Boiler Room (Port-side)

• Coal burned away (coal deposit window)
• Gash in hull (broken hull in distance)
• Burst boiler (boiler to the right of the coal deposit)

Finally, enter the side-room in the Boiler Room area.

• Missing equipment (lying on floor immediately on entering the side-room)

With this, all our clue-hunting is complete. It’s time to solve the final mysteries.

And with all these mysteries complete, we can now solve the big one.

Mystery: What sank the Thalassa?

Some major event: Sudden stormfront
Some major threat: Dead in the water

Add any clue to the mystery board here to proceed.

Ending

Follow the golden orb and interact with Alex’s locker when you can.

Then, interact with the unlabelled locker and interact with each of the golden orbs that come out (there are 4 in all).

Then, follow the golden orb through the door to the left of the locker.

Keep going and approach the golden orb when it stops.

Next, approach the door in the void and you’ll find yourself on the sea floor again.

Follow the sea floor path now, aided by the flares, and eventually you’ll see Alex again. Approach her.

At this point, you have a choice. Interact with Alex (“Stay”) for the bad ending, or with the wooden beam (“Break away”) for the good ending.

If you choose to Break Away, go up toward the platform. Interact with the platform to finish the game.
