Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough of the Like Father, Like Son, Sacred Covenant, and Bad Blood quests in The Blood of Dawnwalker.
The Blood of Dawnwalker, developed by Rebel Wolves, is a single-player, open-world action RPG. The game features the story of Coen, who is human by day and a vampire by night, a special type of vampire even among vampires. For more information, check out the game’s Steam page.
As this game is an RPG, there are going to be some choices that can shape your story and future events. One of these choices comes very early in the game and will be discussed in this guide. Here, we will provide you with a walkthrough of the Like Father, Like Son, Sacred Covenant, and Bad Blood quests in The Blood of Dawnwalker.

The Blood of Dawnwalker: Like Father, Like Son Walkthrough

Now, as the Like Father, Like Son quest starts, you will have to train with Pieter, Coen’s father. So, head out of the house, and you will get the notification that the Withering Away quest has ended. Then, simply follow Pieter, and shortly after, a cutscene will commence.
Spoiler Warning
Gremla is one of the villagers, and the banner she was making for Brencis has been stolen. So, if she does not find it, she will be killed during the Mass. Now, you can interact with Gremla outside of her shed and talk to her. If you agree to help her, this will lead to a quest called Blasphemy. The quest is a little complicated, but we have a walkthrough prepared for you if you want to save Gremla. However, do note that this quest needs to be completed before the Mass.
Have A Friendly Sparring Match with Pieter

That will take you to the place where you will have a friendly duel with him. By now, you should have a good grasp of how to fight, so start attacking him. He can block your attacks too, so when he does and performs a counterattack, make sure to see where the attack is coming from.
Even if you do not have really good reflexes, you should have enough time to react to the attack in a timely manner to even perform a perfect block on the Fair difficulty. Do note that you cannot keep attacking Pieter, as he is skilled with the sword as well.
When he blocks your hit, make sure to get ready to block his swing and then counterattack. There are going to be some moments where you can hit him twice, but be careful. After you have taken down around 80 percent of his health bar, a cutscene will commence.

Then, you will have a conversation with Pieter, and there will be four options to choose from. We went with the first option, and then the conversation continued. This is an important conversation, so be attentive and pay close attention to the choices. Then, among the next options, we went with the second option, and then you will get the option to either go home or wait with Pieter.
Now, do note that there is a significant time difference between both of the options. Select the first option if you want to do some side quests, especially the Blasphemy quest, which is going to be important for the Mass. However, select the second option if you want to skip the time until the Mass.
With your decision, the quest, Like Father, Like Son, will conclude in The Blood of Dawnwalker.

Warning
Before you start the Sacred Covenant quest, make sure to finish all of the side quests in the village. The rest of the quests in the later game can be completed normally. However, once the Sacred Covenant quest is triggered, you will be locked out of the side quests in the prologue. So, make sure to complete any side quests you want to do before that. Also, make sure you don’t wait with Pieter to pass the time, as doing so can lock you out of the available side quests.
Talk to Vladimir
Now, when the Mass starts, you will have a conversation with Vladimir, and he will ask you what Pieter is thinking. The first option is going to be the only option that advances the conversation. When the conversation with him ends, you will have two objectives. With that, the Like Father, Like Son quest will be over.
The Blood of Dawnwalker: Sacred Covenant Walkthrough

As the Sacred Covenant quest starts, there will be two objectives. You can either talk to the villagers, which is going to be optional, or you can simply sit in the pew next to Pieter and Esme to proceed with the main story. If you want to complete both of them, simply have a chat with the villagers until the optional objective has been completed.
Once it is completed, it will be time to sit with Pieter and Esme. Once you have done that, a cutscene will commence. Now, do note that Gremla will be killed during the Mass if you have not completed her side quest. That depends on how you want to progress through the story.
There is a side quest called Blasphemy, and it will not take much of your time. We have already prepared a walkthrough for that, so check that out to complete it easily.
Now, depending on how you handled the situation, the outcome for you is going to be different. We saved Gremla by completing the side quest, so her death did not happen during the Mass for us. Also, note that there will be some quick decisions to make during the Mass.
We remained silent when it came time to say “May it forever endure.” Then, a pretty long and interesting cutscene will commence. When it ends, you will have a conversation with Vladimir. Ask him about Pieter’s whereabouts and then follow up with the second option.
With that, the Sacred Covenant quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker will conclude.
The Blood of Dawnwalker – Bad Blood Walkthrough

Once you are finished talking to Vladmir, you will get the objective of finding your family, with the first objective being to search for your father, Pieter.
Search For Your Father Deeper In The Mine

Now, head deeper into the mine, and on the way, you will find a torch on the ground. Pick it up and continue moving ahead. Along the way, there will be some interactable areas where you will see the Inspect option. So, interact with those areas to get more information and then continue going ahead.
As you go ahead, you will start hearing some strange voices, and there will be a lot of blood too. Keep going ahead, and when Coen stops, a cutscene will commence. Once he asks you to take a breath, select the first option and then continue moving ahead.
Just after a short while, another cutscene will commence, and you will come across Kostel. He is seriously injured, so choose the second option. Then, when more options appear, something strange will happen. If you do not choose an option right away, the choices will change to [give in to the hunger]. That said, if you wait just a little while, they will revert to normal.
Once they revert back to normal, select the first option immediately, and then you will get more options. A similar scenario will happen with these options too, so select the first one when it does not say [give in to the hunger].
You will just be delaying the inevitable, as Coen will, right after saying Calm down to him, drink Kostel’s blood. When that happens, a cutscene will commence, and Kostel will push you all the way into a deep pit. There, you will hear a voice, and when you do, select the first option.
Find A Way Back Up

Now, to find a way back up, squeeze through the path ahead and continue going further. From here, do note that you have to go right to proceed further. However, before that, head down from the left side, and then go right.
Go further, and some enemies will appear. You will be able to two-shot them (depending on the difficulty), so once you have taken them out, head back and follow the path. From there, go ahead through the narrow passage on the left side, and then a short cutscene will commence.
Use The Shadowstep Ability To Progress Further

Now, use the same Shadowstep ability you used back in the first quest. From there, keep going up the path using the Shadowstep ability. Then, soon you will see a pop-up explaining how to use the Voracious Bite skill outside of combat.
From there, go ahead, and you will find more of the same enemies. Perform the Voracious Bite skill on them to recover health and then take the rest out. From here, keep going up the path, and then you will come across a dead end.
That said, you can Shadowstep onto a wall or a ceiling, so you can do the same here. Shadowstep over the flat area ahead, and you will be able to walk on it. However, it consumes stamina, so be mindful of that. Then, go ahead, and you will notice that the platform on the other side is too far away to use Shadowstep.
So, what you need to do is Shadowstep onto the ceiling above you and then walk ahead to reach the other side.
Leave The Mine
Once you have done that, keep sprinting ahead, and you will find the way out. With that, the objective will change to leaving the mine. Once you have left the mine, your objective will update again.
Return To Laslea And Save Your Family

Go ahead just a little, and you will get two options. You can either go down or perform Clawride. Perform Clawride to head down quickly and then go ahead. As you do, two soldiers will stop you, and there will be four options.
Combat Tip
When in Vampire form, you actually have a pretty huge advantage over your opponent. Sure, fighting with the sword may seem more conventional and easier, but in this form, you can Shadowstep behind the enemy and get some free hits in. When in a fight, simply use Shadowstep, and you will appear behind the enemy. Then, instantly strike a few times and make sure you have enough stamina left to dodge their upcoming attack.
However, the first three options will disappear pretty fast, and once that happens, a cutscene will commence. Once the cutscene is over, only one of them will remain standing, so take him out. Then, you will get another objective of finding Vladimir.
Keep going ahead using Shadowstep, and you will find two more soldiers ahead. One of them is going to be bulky, so make sure not to take any damage. Also, if you are low on health, make sure to use the skill to regain it. After taking them down, loot their bodies and continue going ahead.
You will then see a house being set on fire.
Important Note
If you are thinking that saving Vladimir will waste time and you won’t be able to save Coen’s family, then while the concern does make sense, there is something more to it. Saving Vladimir takes one time segment, and if you don’t save him and go straight to your family, it will cost you two time segments. However, if you save Vladimir, he will tell you about a shortcut to the village. This shortcut allows you to reach the village in just one time segment. This means that saving Vladimir will have no effect on the fate of Coen’s family.
Defeat Vrakhiri Banneret: Find Vladimir

Your opponent is going to be the Vrakhiri Banneret after you head to the house that is set on fire. Along with him, there is going to be another soldier, so first take him out. Then, focus on the Banneret, and do note that he hits hard and has wide swings, so be careful.
However, his health will be pretty low, so it is only going to take a few hits to take him down. Once you have defeated him, a cutscene will commence. In the cutscene, Coen will ask Vlad to come out, but he will not, so you will get two options to choose from.
We chose the second option and then followed it up with the first one. Vlad will come out, but he is still convinced that Coen wants to drink his blood. You will get three options. Do not choose the third one. We went with the second one, and then he will agree to go with you. A short while after, you will get some more options to choose from.
We went with the first option, and then it is time to head back to save the family.
Continue On The Path To Laslea

Now, head back on the path and continue going ahead. Defeat the soldiers along the way, and as you progress further, a cutscene will commence. You will then have a conversation with Brencis. When the options appear, choose the first one, and then you will have a fight with Brencis.
Fight Brencis, The Kyanz Of Vale Sangora

Now, do note that Brencis is using a sword, and shortly into the fight, he will dual-wield. So, the combos are going to extend. When you see the red skull mark, that means the combo cannot be avoided, so dash backward.
The weapon in his left hand can change shape, as it is made of blood. He can even lunge at you with a spear. Brencis can also disappear, given that he is a vampire, and perform a cross-slash on you. He can also throw a projectile toward you, so make sure to time your dodge correctly.
You do not have to defeat him, but learning the combat mechanics here will actually be better for you later on. So, take out as much of his health as possible, and even if you lose, do not worry, as this is a scripted event.
That said, if you do manage to defeat Brencis, the game literally ends right then and there. You will also get an achievement, but you will miss out on the rest of the story.
Once the cutscene ends, you will be at Anca’s. Select the first option, and then follow up with the first one again. Then, select the second option. With that, the Bad Blood quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker comes to an end.
