Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for The Darkest Files.

Note that this walkthrough is for the game’s Investigator mode, which requires more detailed solutions than Story mode.

As usual, go up the stairs, enter your office, and check your inbox.

After you’re done, the intercom will ring. Answer it and then head out of your office.

As expected, enter the Conference Room and begin your interrogation with Hermann Kiebitz.

In the memory, begin by interacting with the speech bubble, and then proceed to the golden circle, and then the next golden circle.

When the cell door is opened, interact with Mr Faltmann, the official on the right. Head into the cell and interrupt Kiebitz.

In the Old Case, go to the document with the heading “Official Order”. Select the second-to-last paragraph here, which starts with “Any attempt at insubordination must be…”.

Now enter the cell proper and take a right to the yellow circle again.

You can now do your research in Kiebitz’s memory. We’ll start with the cell and move outwards. Note that some elements are unlocked after examining other elements, so moving in order of listing is recommended.

1. Toppled stool in the center of the cell
2. Gunshot hole below the window
3. The mattress
4. The carved markings near the mattress
5. The pail opposite the mattress

Now move out of the cell and into the corridor. Examine these items:

6. The power box near the cell
7. The oil lamp on top of the barrel
8. The power generator below the power box
9. The radio near the cell

Continue down the corridor and examine these items:

10. The air raid siren
11. The cell opposite the office door
12. The toppled stool inside this cell
13. The playing cards on a barrel between the office and the cell
14. The map next to the office door
15. The cardboard boxes on the floor near the map
16. The lockers near the golden exit

Do not exit just yet. Open Schwarz’s office door and examine these items:

17. Schwarz’s office door (This opens the door)
18. The board immediately to the right of the door
19. Schwarz’s photograph on the board
20. Faltmann’s profile on the board
21. Kiebitz’s profile on the board
22. Schickert’s profile on the board
23. The typewriter on the desk
24. The documents on the desk
25. The window next to the desk

With all the info collected, head out through the golden door now to exit the memory and soon, conclude the interrogation.

Your new objective is to update Mr Bauer, so head to the door straight ahead.

As it’s locked, go to Paula and ask her about Mr Bauer. Then, ask her about documents and go through all the options to request all the files possible.

Finally, invite the next suspect. For our walkthrough, we’re going with Karl Schickert.

This done, head over to Christoph Wohlmuth’s office, located to the left of where Paula is.

Ask him about the blueprint after discussing Peters, and then build your theory according to the tutorial.

This is not final, so you can choose any of the suspects for now.

After exiting the office, your day is done, so head out of the front door and conclude this chapter of the game.
