The House of Tesla Walkthrough: Tesla Factory Upper Floors

Welcome to our walkthrough for The House of Tesla. This guide covers the second chapter of the game, Tesla Factory – Upper Floors.

After unlocking the big door in the last chapter, you find yourself in the upper levels of a massive factory. But the power’s cut off, and you need to figure out a way to get to the lower levels.

Outside the Office

Turn the crank in front of you to power the factory. The lights turn on briefly, but the power cuts off immediately after.

Look at the knob near the top-left corner under the crank. You can unscrew it.

Take a closer look at the opening and use the latch to detach the crank.

Click on the crank to pick it up.

Turn left to find another panel ahead. Head towards it.

Insert the Metal Crank into the empty slot and rotate it to lower a set of stairs leading to another platform.

Click on the stairs to head down.

The Second Platform

As soon as you get to the second platform, turn around to find another panel nearby. Rotating the crank here does nothing.

Check the lower part of the panel and collect the Cracked Gear Holder.

Back away from the panel and turn around. There are two devices on this platform.

Check the left device first. There are two pressure vessels here, each with a wheel. Turning the wheel on the left pressure vessel increases pressure, while the wheel on the right vessel decreases it.

Turn the two wheels so that the needle points to green on the indicator. Rotate the left wheel three times and the right wheel twice to achieve equilibrium.

You’ll hear a click, and a handle comes out on the right. Pull the handle down to activate the device on the right.

This is a welding machine.

Use the latch on the right side and lift the cover. You’ll see two directional buttons and a green button in the middle. These buttons dictate the path the welding machine will take.

Place the Cracked Gear Holder on the welding machine.

Now you need to set up the welding machine in the correct sequence so it welds the gear holder properly. The correct sequence for this puzzle is: Down / Up / Down / Down.

Once you’ve set the sequence, press the green button to test the path. If the sequence is correct, the panel will shift, revealing a big red button. Hold down the red button until the welder finishes its job. Pick up the Welded Gear Holder afterward.

Return to the stairs panel on this platform and place the Welded Gear Holder in its lower compartment to slot it in place.

Rotate the crank in the panel to gain access to the catwalk below.

The Lower Floor Catwalk

Head down to the lower floor catwalk and go left to find a stuck elevator. Zoom in and remove the junk blocking it. The elevator will drop down immediately.

Take a closer look at the top of the elevator cabin. Unscrew the component in the middle to get the Knob Screw.

Lift the bottom panel out of the way and pick up the Cracked Sheave.

Return to the welding machine and place the Cracked Sheave on it. The correct sequence this time is Down / Up / Up / Down / Up / Up / Down / Down. 

Weld the broken pieces together to get the Welded Sheave.

Return to the elevator and put everything back together. However, you can’t call the elevator yet since it isn’t powered.

Head back to the platform with the welding machine and use your Tesla Prototype. Interact with the strand to see the available nodes.

First, divert power to the conveyor belt. You’ll see a small generator on the belt, but it can’t get near the lift because of the stairs.

Use the crank to redirect the stairs so the generator on the conveyor belt can get close to the elevator.

Use the Tesla Prototype to divert power all the way to the elevator.

With the elevator powered, return to the lower floor catwalk and call the elevator.

Use the top button to ride it to the third floor.

Unlocking the Office Door

Before you get out of the elevator, you’ll notice a flickering light bulb on the top right.

Back out of the elevator and head toward the stack of crates on the left.

Zoom in on the crate with the latch. Lift the latch and open the lid.

Pick up the Hollow Corkscrew from inside.

Return to the elevator and use the Hollow Corkscrew on the flickering light bulb.

Rotate the corkscrew to detach the bulb and collect it.

Exit the elevator and check the door of the office. Attach the light bulb to the empty slot.

This is another puzzle you’ll need to solve to unlock the door. Clicking a bulb lights up the two bulbs on either side. To solve the puzzle, you must light up all the bulbs.

The correct sequence is: Left Bulb, Right Bulb, Top Bulb, Bottom Bulb, Bottom Left, Top Right, Top Left, Bottom Right.

Once all the bulbs light up, the gears will start spinning and the door will swing open. You can now head inside the office.

Turn left once inside to see an aura on a device. Click it to enter another Tesla Memory.

Tesla Memory

Let the cutscene play out.

Choose Amendments and Project as the answers for the quiz section.

After the cutscene ends, you’ll see a large box in front of you. Pick up the small item on the right side. This is a Tower-shaped Key.

Inspect the top of the box. Use the Tower-shaped Key with the slot. Rotate the top to unlock the box.

As soon as you lift the top lid, the tile on the front left side of the box pops off. Pick it up.

Inspect the front part of the box. Keep moving the white tiles to the left until you find a Model Train in the middle section. Pick it up.

Now, inspect the top part of the box and pick up the Golden Beam lying on the left side of the train tracks.

Place the Model Train in the middle section of the tracks. The barricade on the right will drop down.

Push the train forward, and a small model house will rise from the top right side of the box.

Insert the Golden Beam into the slot above the door of the model house. Pull the roof of the house apart.

Take a closer look at the right side of the house. The four sliders in the windows rotate the squares in the middle. You need to line them up so that the Ornamental Tile can fit into the slot.

Inspect the back of the Ornamental Tile in your inventory to see the correct pattern.

Here’s the correct slider position from left to right:

  • 1st Slider – bottom position
  • 2nd Slider – top position
  • 3rd Slider – 2nd position
  • 4th Slider – 3rd position

Use the Ornamental Tile with the center to click it into place.

This causes the box to rise, revealing more puzzle sections. Check the right side of the box first.

The two buttons on the tile can be moved using the two star ornaments on either side. Whenever you move one ornament, the blockades in the tile move position. There’s an empty slot in the bottom left corner. To solve this puzzle, you need to move either of the two buttons all the way to the bottom-left slot.

Once you solve the puzzle, a small door opens on the left, revealing an item inside.

Collect the Tower Model.

Inspect it in your inventory and lift the tower up to complete the item.

Use this item with the top slot of the model house to remove the blockade on the left side of the train track.

Push the train all the way to the left to lift a tower on the top left section.

Pick up the Small Key at the top of the tower.

Look at the right side of the lifted platform to find another puzzle.

Insert the Small Key in the keyhole.

Rotating the key moves both the minute and hour hands of the clock in 20-minute increments. There are also two small frames on the rim of the clock that let you adjust the minute and hour hands individually. You need to line up the hands at exactly 12 o’clock as shown in the small clock on the top right. 

Here’s the solution to this puzzle: 

  • Move the top frame to the second position from the top.
  • Move the bottom frame to the third position from the top. 
  • Keep turning the key until the clock hits 12.

After solving the puzzle, a hidden compartment will open. You’ll find the Wire Dome inside it.

Use it on top of the tower to complete the Tesla Memory.

Watch the cutscene and choose Anger as the answer to the final quiz.

The Display Case – Top Shelf

Now that you’re back in the present, there are a lot of things to check here. But before you do anything, interact with the broken puzzle box that you had to solve in the Tesla Memory and move the top part out of the way.

You can pick up the Golden Beam from the model house.

Check the display case near the door. Take a closer look at the books on top of the case.

You can remove a small panel right below the books to reveal a mechanism underneath. 

Note that the three books are in different sizes, and you can swap them with each other to change the position of the ramps below. Your goal is to get the marble all the way to the other side of the ramp.

To do that, move the biggest book to the right and the smallest book to the center. 

Check the front part of the display case. Like before, remove the bottom panel and rearrange the books to get the marble to the other side.

Check the image above to know the correct order of books for this puzzle. After the marble rolls over, the top part of the display case opens. Look inside to find a device with a crank.

Turn the crank in the device inside to collect the Crank. Also, pick up the Segmented Cylinder. 

The Small Table

There’s a small table in the office with a glass dome. Take a closer look at it.

On the left leg of the table, you’ll spot a slot. Insert the Crank you just picked up into the slot.

Rotating the crank lifts several blocks on the left side of the table. You can drag these blocks down to reveal a unique symbol behind each one.

Now check the right side of the table. Here, you’ll find a set of cylinders you can rotate. Three of them have unique symbols engraved on them, which match the symbols hidden behind the blocks.

The symbols are Crown, Cross, and Lion. Return to the left side of the table and drag down only the blocks with these matching symbols.

This opens a hidden compartment. Rotate the switch inside to pull out a drawer and collect the Wooden Tablet.

Next, check the front part of the table. Insert the Wooden Tablet into the empty slot to reveal another hidden compartment.

You’ll see a compass puzzle. Drag the points into their correct positions so the compass is complete (refer to the image above for the solution).

Once solved, the compass moves out of the way to reveal a compartment. Collect the Push Button.

Finally, check the top of the table. Insert the Push Button into the empty slot on the right.

Press the second button on the right, and as the egg begins spinning, press the first button on the right.

Open the glass dome and pick up the Shot Glass from inside the egg.

The Alcove

There’s an Alcove at the back of the room. Head inside it.

Take a closer look at the table. You can place your Shot Glass in one of the empty cup holders here.

Each of the glasses and the bottles at the back has symbols printed on them. You’ll also notice that the symbols on the bottles match those on three of the shot glasses in front. You can swap out the position of the glasses across the seven cup holders.

To solve this puzzle, you have to place the shot glasses in a specific spot. Refer to the image above for the solution to this puzzle.

Once solved, the top of the middle bottle opens. Pick up the Pipe Wrench. You can rotate the handle in the Pipe Wrench in your inventory to tighten or loosen the fitting.

For now, head back to the main office room and inspect the pipe next to the statue.

Note that the Valve has the number 2 etched on it.

Set the fitting to 2 in your Pipe Wrench and use it to loosen the valve. Click on the wheel to collect the Valve Wheel.

Open the pipe door. Pull the lid inside to drop the Hip Flask. Pick it up.

Return to the Alcove and turn left. Interact with the machine.

Place the Hip Flask in the groove on the right and pull it down to lift the glass.

There’s an empty slot in the mechanism behind the glass. But we don’t have the item for this part yet. So we’ll have to return to it later. For now, head back to the office and take a closer look at the brass statue on the side.

The Brass Statue

Take a closer look above the statue.

You can attach the Golden Beam to the empty slot here. This causes the statue to spring into motion. However, the left leg falls off.

Pick it up. You’ll notice that it’s cracked badly. Thankfully, you already have a welding machine.

Return to the platform with the welding machine using the elevator. Before you can work on the Cracked Metal Foot, you need to use the Segmented Cylinder on the welding machine.

Then place the Cracked Metal Foot in the opening of the welding machine.

You need to input 12 commands in the welding machine to repair the metal foot. The correct sequence for this puzzle is: Down / Up / Down / Down / Up / Down / Up / Down / Down / Up / Up / Down.

Once the Metal Foot is repaired, return to the brass statue and attach it to the leg.

Doing this opens two panels on the side of the statue. You can now use the four levers on the sides to move the different parts of the statue.

Activate the Tesla Prototype to see that current can flow throughout the statue. To solve this puzzle, you need to complete the circuit.

The image above shows the correct pose you need to recreate to solve this puzzle.

As soon as you solve the puzzle, something falls off the statue, and the panels close up. Look down and pick up the Clock Hand from the floor.

Return to the Alcove and use the Clock Hand with the empty slot of the machine next to the door. Rotate the clock a few turns and then hit the button at the bottom. Back out of the Alcove immediately. The door will close as soon as the timer runs out.

Turn towards the closed door of the Alcove to see a painting of people riding horses. This will come in handy for the next puzzle of the chapter.

The Rotary Horse Puzzle

Take a closer look at the horses depicted in the painting. Note down their number and the color of their saddles.

Next, look at the rotary device on the right.

There are three rows with switches on either side. Each row has a different colored frame. Using the switches changes the galloping pose of the horse for each row individually. You can also slide the green horse miniature in front of the rotary device that you can slide to the right. But it doesn’t go all the way.

To solve this puzzle, you need to use the switches so that each horse is making the correct galloping pose.

There’s a zeotrope machine behind you on the table.

Rotating the crank on the right will play the reel. You can also switch the slider at the top to set it at different positions. You need to match the horse numbers on the paintings with the zeotrope machine and rotate the crank to find the correct galloping pose to use at the rotary device.

Refer to the image above for the solution. Slide the horse piece all the way forward to unlock a hidden compartment.

Pick up the Foldable Mechanism from there.

The Display Case – Bottom Shelves

Now that you’ve got the Foldable Mechanism, return to the Display Case. Take a closer look at the top case. You’ll notice that the pipe has a bolt on it and the number 2 etched on top. Remember the Valve Wheel that you picked up earlier. That was also a size 2!

Use the Valve Wheel with the pipe and turn it.

This will open the next shelf of the display case. Inspect the device in the second shelf.

Use the Foldable Mechanism with the device to complete it. Now you can start to solve this puzzle.

You can see a green block inside the mechanism. By using the handle on the two sides of the box, you can orient the maze differently. You can’t influence the green block in any way other than just flipping the puzzle. Your goal is to get it to the slot on the other side.

The puzzle is pretty straightforward. Keep flipping the box so that it reaches the slot, and the third shelf of the case will unlock.

Inspect the third shelf and pick up the Earring.

Return to the brass statue and inspect the face. The statue will raise its hands up, and a light bulb will drop from above. Pick up the Light Bulb.

Return to the device in the third shelf and use the Light bulb with its empty slot. This leads to yet another puzzle you need to solve.

This is a complicated one and involves multiple steps to solve. You can use the levers on the left to rotate the three dials on the device. You can move the tiles left or right. When the same colors are lined up, the corresponding light turns on. Your goal is to get all three lights at the bottom to light up.

To solve the puzzle, here’s the sequence you need to follow:

  • Move the third and fourth tiles right
  • Push the left lever up
  • Move the second tile right
  • Push the middle lever up
  • Push the right lever up
  • Move the right tile to the right.
  • Move the middle tile to the left
  • Pull the right lever down.
  • Move the green tile two times to the left.
  • Pull the right lever down.
  • Move the right green tile to the left.
  • Push the middle lever up
  • Pull the right lever down.

Unfortunately, this is only one part of the puzzle. Solving it takes you to another puzzle on the same device. Pulling on the lever on the right causes two of the discs to start spinning. Your goal is to get all the discs to spin at the same time.

You can rotate the discs individually, and also slide the dice left or right if there are empty spaces there. When two dice of the same pattern line up, they join together and cause the discs to rotate at the same time.

There are six dice across the discs with matching symbols. The two “=” dice are connected from the start. You need to connect the two “:” and “I” dice together by placing them next to each other. Once done, use the lever to rotate the device.

This will activate the bottom shelf, but there’s still one more step left to complete before you can access it.

Click on the drawers on the right to take a closer look at them. You can pick up the handle of the top drawer.

Return to the bottom shelf and use the Drawer Handle with the two slots on the left. Use the handle to open the door to the bottom shelf.

You will find an electronic component inside.

You’re all done with the Office. Head back to the elevator for the final puzzle of the chapter.

The Elevator Puzzle

Return to the elevator and take a look at the switch. You’ll notice a bolt on the right with the number 3 etched on it.

Set the Pipe Wrench in your inventory to 3 and use it on the bolt to loosen it.

Open the lid of the panel to reveal the circuit board inside.

For now, you can only use the elevator to get to the second and third floors. You need to reroute the power so that you can access the ground floor. To do that, you need to power the bottom switch on the left from at least two sources from the right side.

First, attach the Electrical component to the top or bottom part of the panel. Click on the switches on the top and bottom right to see how it works.

For this puzzle, you want to turn on your Tesla Prototype. This lets you see the flow of electricity to easily determine the routing.

Close the lid once you’re done and click the switch for the ground floor to complete the chapter.
