The House of Tesla Walkthrough – Wardenclyffe Laboratory (Part 1)

Welcome to our walkthrough for The House of Tesla. This walkthrough will cover the first part of Chapter 4, Wardenclyff Laboratory.

The Wardenclyff Laboratory, also known as the Tesla Lab, is packed with intricate machines and mind-bending puzzles. We’ll take you step by step through each challenge and show you how to solve them.

For more information about The House of Tesla, check out the official website here.

The Entrance

The electric train from the previous chapter drops you off right at the doors of the Wardenclyffe Laboratory. However, before you can step inside, you’ll need to solve a puzzle. Inspect the mechanism on the door.

You’ll see eight interconnected circles that you can rotate independently. Turn on your Tesla Prototype.

This will show some wires inside the circle. There are two wires coming in from the left. The bottom wire has electricity running through it.

Your goal is to rotate the circles so the current travels up and connects to the top wire, completing the circuit.

The above image shows you the proper routing required to solve this puzzle. The door will swing open, and you can head inside.

The Western Corner Alcove

As you enter the lower level of the laboratory, you’ll see a lot of machines spread all over. Head for the device in the far-left corner, near the large pipe first.

You’ll spot a coil on the right, sitting on top of a small table.

Taking a closer look at it shows that one of the screws in front of the coil is not in the right place. Pull it into its slot.

Something pops out from the bottom section of the coil. Pick it up to collect the Folded Component.

Inspect this item in your inventory. First, tighten the three clamps at the top by pushing them together. Then pull out the two small metal arms from the center. This turns into the Unfolded component.

Now turn left and inspect the central section of the device in the alcove.

Use the Unfolded Component with the three empty pins on the panel to slot it into place. Pressing the button in the middle of the Unfolded Component, at this point, protract and try to grab anything that’s in range.

Slide the two cylinders on the side up near the arms of the Unfolded Component and press the middle button. Next, pull down the plug hanging over the component to attach it.

This opens a secret compartment at the bottom section. Open the door and pick up the Cylindrical Device.

Back off from the central section, and turn toward the coil on the right-side table. You’ll notice a slot with four notches below the coil. Note down the position of the notches.

Inspect the Cylindrical Device in your inventory. Push down three of the bottom pins so that they match up with the slot you saw on the device just now.

Use the Cylindrical Device with the slot and rotate the top. A drawer pops open containing the Metal Door with a Switch. Pick it up.

Return to the hidden compartment in the central device and use the Metal Door on the door. It slots into place, and the central panel shifts slightly.

Pull the central panel all the way down.

This will open up a new section on the device, leading you to your next puzzle.

You’ll notice some directional buttons on the bottom-right side. Flipping the switch on the bottom-left activates the electrode above the 3×3 grid, causing it to move. Its path is dictated by the arrows on the bottom-right. You can adjust one block in each column of arrows so that every column contains two directional commands.

You need to set up the directions in a way that the electrode can pass through the grid and exit through the top-right section.

To solve this puzzle, refer to the image above and flip the switch.

The electrode will pass through the table and get close to the electrode behind the coil on the small right-side table.

Examine the electrode on the small table and rotate it so that the two electrodes are lined up.

Press the button on the central panel to unlock the device holding the coil in place.

Pick up the Coil. You’re done with this section for now. So back off from the alcove and turn right.

The Bottom-Floor Eastern Half

Move forward and turn left. You’ll see a blocked-off stair with some eight coils on the wall. Take a closer look at it.

This is a straightforward puzzle where you need to move the coils around to complete the picture. Use the markings on each coil to figure out their position. Place the Coil you picked up in the corner alcove in the middle to complete the picture.

This will push some blocks out on the wall right next to you. Click on the blocks from the bottom, going up. Each block you press pushes a book out of the bookshelf up ahead.

When you push the final block, the book opens. Head towards it.

Take the Ornamental Wing from the left side of the book.

Turn left and you’ll see a pedestal hidden in the wall beside the blocked-off stairs. Take a closer look at it.

You can see two notches on the side of the pedestal. Use the Ornamental Wing with it.

This causes the pedestal to slide out. Drag the Ornamental Wing down. It will cause the tower up ahead to reorient itself.

You’ll also spot a hidden compartment open up under the tower.

Take a closer look at it to find the Metal Sphere.

Return to the pedestal and place the Metal Sphere on top of it.

It slots into place, unlocking the staircase on the left behind the puzzle you solved earlier.

Tesla Memory (Outer Lab)

Head up the unlocked staircase. You’ll immediately notice an object with the familiar aura. Click on it to enter the Tesla Memory for this chapter.

Watch the cutscene and choose Test the Prototype as the answer for the quiz.

You’ll find yourself in front of a machine split into three sections. The top part of each section has a slot for a Transmitter. But it’s missing for now.

Before you do anything here, turn right, towards the table. There are three Transmitters here. Pick them up.

Turn towards the machine and use the First Transmitter with the first section. You have to rotate the symbols and slot them in their proper position in the outer perimeter in their appropriate slots.

Check the above image for the solution to this puzzle.

Solving this unlocks the slot for the second transmitter. But before you slot the Second Transmitter in, check its back part in your inventory. You’ll spot a specific pattern on its back.

Take a closer look at the slot for the second transmitter. You can rotate the outer ring to rotate the symbols. The inside ring, on the other hand, brings the two symbols in. Before you can use the Second Transmitter, you need to arrange the symbols so that they match the pattern on the back of the transmitter.

Rotate the outer ring so that the symbols line up like the above image, and then rotate the inner ring.

Place the Second Transmitter in its slot. It’s the same puzzle as the one you completed for the First Transmitter. Check the image above for the solution.

Similar to the Second Transmitter, check the back of the Third Transmitter to see its pattern.

Inspect the slot for the Third Transmitter. You’ll see a small ball on the left side resting on a line, with six pillars positioned along the middle. The inner ring shifts the pillars into different spots, while the outer ring moves the ball forward, as long as there are no pillars in its path.

To solve the puzzle, simply move the ball all the way to the right. Rotate the inner ring so the two pillars in front of the ball slide out of the way, then rotate the outer ring to push the ball forward. Repeat this process until the ball reaches the end. Then rotate the inner ring until the pillars all line up with each other.

Place the Third Transmitter after solving the previous puzzle. Then rotate the rings and position the symbols as shown in the image above to complete the Tesla Memory.

The Faraday Cage

After the Tesla Memory, pick up the note in front of you to spot a Brass Key. Pick it up.

The Brass Key unlocks the door to the Faraday cage nearby. Unlock the door and head inside.

You’ll spot a weird latch locking the lid under the control panel. Take a closer look at it.

You can’t pull out the latch because of the wooden lock around it. To unlock the panel, you need to rotate the handles so that the grooves line up with the patterns on the latch and pull it to the left.

Keep repeating it until you pull out the latch.

The lid falls off the control panel, taking you to another small puzzle segment.

There’s an orange wire coming out of a spool on the top left. Use the stick on the left to dictate the wire’s path across the grid. You’ll notice two special blocks: one with two bulbs and one with a single bulb.

If the wire runs across a side of the block, the bulb lights up. But if the wire passes across more sides than the number of bulbs on the block, the light turns off again. For example, if the wire touches one side of the single-bulb block, the bulb will turn on. If it runs along two sides, the bulb will shut off.

To solve this puzzle, you’ll have to run the wire across the grid all the way to the bottom right part while lighting all the bulbs on the board. Check the image above for the solution to this puzzle.

You’ll have to solve another part of the same puzzle. This time, the grid is bigger, and there are more blocks with multiple bulbs that you have to power before you reach the end point. The solution is shown in the image above.

After solving both puzzles, interact with the control panel at the top. Slide the button on the left all the way to the top and use the lever on the right.

This will cause current to strike at one of the recievers on the ground floor. Head downstairs, toward the receiver that got hit.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Open the door and pick up the Medallion.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Now, head toward the stairs on the left side of the ground floor. You’ll see a couple of pillars blocking your path.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Take a closer look at the central pillar. Use the Medallion on the slot. Drag the two metal tips toward the perimeter. The medallion will sink, and another puzzle will replace it.

the house of tesla walkthrough

You can rotate the four symbols freely. The four buttons pull the symbol toward the center.

the house of tesla walkthrough

To solve this puzzle, arrange the symbols as shown in the image above and press the buttons in the marked order.

This will remove the blockade from the stairs, allowing you to head up. You’ll spot an item on a shelf under some gauges on the left. Pick it up to collect the L-Shaped Grooved Tile.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Return to the book where you found the Ornamental Wings earlier on the ground floor.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Inspect the right side of the book. Move the tiles around until they resemble the image above.

Place the L-Shaped Grooved Tile on the empty spot and pull it down to the bottom. This will give you the Cross-Base Knob.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Return to the Faraday cage upstairs and interact with the control panel. Place the Cross-Base Knob on the second slider of the panel.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Next, drag both the first and the second sliders all the way to the top and pull the lever. This time, the current will strike at the wooden tower near the middle of the ground floor.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Head downstairs, toward the wooden tower, and interact with it.

the house of tesla walkthrough

On the side of the tower, you’ll see the statue of a lady. Her head and waist aren’t aligned properly, and there are three discs on both sides of the statue. Rotating the discs shifts the position of the statue’s head and waist.

Rotating the top disc on each side rotates only the head of the statue, and the bottom discs only rotate the waist. The middle disc on each side rotates both the head and the waist. Each disc also has a unique symbol engraved on it.

the house of tesla walkthrough

To solve the puzzle, you need to align both the statue’s parts and the symbols on the discs so that everything is oriented correctly. Set the middle disc on both sides to their correct orientation first. Then start rotating the top discs until both the head and the discs are aligned. Then focus on the bottom discs and repeat the same process to complete this puzzle.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Once that’s done, a drawer opens up under the statue with an item inside. Pick it up to collect the Mechanical Plaque.

Head up the medallion staircase and go through the door. You’ll see two control panels up ahead. Interact with the one at the far end.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Before you do anything, try clicking on the buttons on the panel. The big button on the right activates the arm of the green loader on the silo outside the window. The red buttons move the loader along the tower. The lever on the left rotates the entire silo either left or right.

You can spot some black blocks on the silo and a silver ship on one of the grids. The black blocks prevent the loader from moving further. You’ll also see a grid with a green frame as you rotate the silo. Your goal is to grab the ship and place it on the framed grid.

Here’s the step-by-step solution to this puzzle:

  • Press the right button.
  • Rotate the silo right.
  • Press the left button.
  • Rotate the silo left.
  • Press the up button.
  • Press the big button on the left to grab the boat.
  • Press the down button.
  • Press the left button.
  • Press the up button.
  • Press the right button
  • Rotate the silo right.
  • Press the right button.
  • Press the down button.
  • Press the big button to drop the boat into the grid.

After the short cutscene, head towards the other control panel in this room.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Place the Mechanical Plaque in the central slot of the control panel. This will activate the wheel and the lever on the panel.

the house of tesla walkthrough

The red steering wheel controls the direction, and the lever controls the speed of the boat you see on the water. You’ll also notice seven sets of buoys floating on the water. To solve this puzzle, you’ll have to navigate the boat through the buoys in a specific order to light up the bulb above them.

We’ve marked the sequence of buoys you need to hit in the image above.

the house of tesla walkthrough

The boat goes inside the pump on the right, and the cabinet under the control panel you’ve been using unlocks.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Open the door to collect the I-Shaped Grooved Tile.

Return to the book with the tiles from earlier and arrange the tiles as shown in the image above.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Pull the button down to get the Hexagon-Base Knob. Head back up to the Faraday cage and use the new knob with the final slider of the control panel.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Drag down the right-side slider to the bottom position. Leave the first and second sliders at the top position. Activate the switch. This will unlock the door on the western side of the ground floor.

The Water Chamber

Head downstairs and enter the room you just unlocked. This takes you to the lower level of the gallery where you solved the boat puzzle.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Check the large water chamber with the valves up ahead. Take a closer look at the mosaic.

the house of tesla walkthrough

You’ll notice that some of the pieces of the mosaic aren’t placed in the correct position. You can move some pieces along the black lines. Your goal is to move the pieces around so that the picture is complete.

the house of tesla walkthrough

It’s a straightforward puzzle and shouldn’t take too long to solve. The above image shows you the completed picture.

Once you solve the puzzle, water starts to leak from six pipes surrounding the large water chamber.

the house of tesla walkthrough

You can rotate the valves to stop leaks from two pipes at the same time. This will also cause the water level inside the chamber to rise. To solve this puzzle, you need to stop all the leaks.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Check the image above and follow the instructions below to complete this puzzle.

  • Use Valve 1
  • Use Valve 2
  • Use Valve 3
  • Use Valve 4
  • Use Valve 1

After solving the puzzle, head towards the big pipe on the right. Take a closer look at the boat.

the house of tesla walkthrough

You can see two metal plates inside the boat. But you can’t pull them out because of the brass pieces on the tracks. The three antennas at the top move the brass pieces on both the top and bottom metal tracks at the same time.

You need to line up the brass pieces along the track in a way that lets you pull out the metal plate from the side. This is a simple puzzle, but you need to pull out one plate at a time. Use the antennas to move the pieces around and focus on pulling out the top plate first. After that, the second plate should come out easily.

Solving this puzzle unlocks a compartment at the boat’s hull. Inspect it and pick up the Propeller Shaft.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Exit the room and take a closer look at the machine right in front of you.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Behind the curtain, you’ll notice a lever on your left and a wheel on your right. The objects at the center are casting a shadow on the screen at the back of the machine. You can use the lever to switch the position of the different objects and the wheel to orient them.

You can also spot a blue symbol on the screen. To solve this puzzle, you need to arrange the objects in a specific way so that the shadow surrounds the blue symbol on the screen.

  • Set the lever to the middle position, and rotate the wheel so that the shadow falls on the right border of the symbol. (left image)
  • Switch the lever to the third position, and rotate the wheel so that the shadow covers the left border. (right image)
  • Set the lever to its original position to complete the puzzle.
the house of tesla walkthrough

After completing the puzzle, the Light Bulb casting the shadow will pop off, and you can collect it.

the house of tesla walkthrough

You’ll also see a post pop out from the floor.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Place the Propeller Shaft with the top of the post.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Pull it to the left to rotate the tower towards the locked door on the left.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Return to the Faraday cage upstairs and interact with the control panel. Set the first and second sliders to the bottom position and the third slider to the top. Activate the lever to unlock the final locked door in the area.

the house of tesla walkthrough

Head through it to reach the inner section of Wardenclyffe Laboratory.
