Welcome to the Into Indie Games complete walkthrough (part one) of The Last Salvage Squad.

The Last Salvage Squad, developed by Sunfish Kumano and published by Waku Waku Games, is a 2.5D FPS game. In this title, you have to battle enemy forces who have demolished human civilizations. You have special weapons that can take down the enemies. So, your aim is to defeat all of them and find out what happens next.

As this is an FPS game, it can be a little challenging to defeat the enemies. So, here in this guide, we will provide you with part one of the complete walkthrough of The Last Salvage Squad.

For more information, head over to its Steam page.

The Last Salvage Squad – Walkthrough

upgrade station The Last Salvage Squad

As you start the mission, you will see some NPCs ahead of you. You can talk to them, and when done, head to the vending machine on the left and check out upgrades. This is where you can unlock sub-weapons and extensions, so do not forget to visit it.

Get Your First Weapon (Recovery Mission)

Right now you do not have much currency, so exit and go ahead. Head a little to the north to get a weapon, and just a little ahead on the northeast side, the first enemy will appear. Shoot the enemy, collect the currency, and then go ahead. Do note that you can jump pretty high.

You can even go up the buildings, so do so, and you will have a clear angle of the next enemy. Defeat the next enemy too, and if you are low on bullets (can be checked at the bottom right side), make sure to reload. These enemies go down pretty easily and do not take many bullets either.

Their attacks are also pretty visible, so you can simply step to the side to dodge them. Once you have defeated a few of them, more will spawn, and they will now come in a larger quantity.

Defeat The Enemies

Look out for a white beam coming out of the sky onto the ground. That is the indication of an enemy being spawned. So shoot the enemy, and you will then notice some arrows. That indicates that there are more enemies, so take cover and defeat them too.

It will be displayed in the middle of your screen how many enemies are left. So defeat them and make sure to pick up all of the currency. Once you have defeated all of the enemies, the mission will be completed.

Unlock Some Armor

Now you will have enough money to unlock either armor, Ad-Boost, or the Detector. Select any armor and then head into the battlefield again.

Salvage The Objective (Run & Gun)

As you enter the battlefield, four enemies will appear on the north side. However, you cannot fight them as you do not have a weapon. So to fight them, you will need to head to the opposite side of the map. The indicator will be ahead, so go there while avoiding fights with any enemies.

When you reach the north side, jump and go to the side to pick up the gun. Now that you have the weapon, defeat the four enemies, and as you do, a lot more will spawn. However, they will spawn one by one, so if you have a good aim, you will be able to take them down one by one before they can swarm you.

That said, as you can only shoot eight bullets without reloading, you will have to reload. So it is better to reload right after defeating the first four enemies and then take care of the rest. Once you have defeated all of the enemies, the mission will be completed. So, from the main menu, select the next one.

Complete The Next Mission (Special Unit Encirclement)

The Last Salvage Squad third mission

You may not have enough money to buy the rest of the armor, so head back into the battlefield. As you do, three enemies will spawn. One will spawn right ahead of you, but ignore them for now as you do not have a weapon. Your weapon is north of where you spawn, so head there, pick it up, and take care of the three enemies.

Reload your weapon, and just like before, more waves of enemies will appear. They will spawn one by one, so take care of them. However, after you have taken care of them all, more will spawn in the same manner, so do not let your guard down.

Defeat the enemies, collect the currency, and once you have taken down the last one, the mission will be over.

Unlock More Upgrades

Now that you have plenty of money, head over to the machine and unlock some more upgrades. First of all, unlock the rest of the armor, and you may still have enough for one more upgrade. However, if you do not, do not worry; head into the battlefield, and there will be an NPC along the way carrying a gun for you.

Salvage Armament (Nemesis) – Smoldering Sky Mission

Now there are going to be a lot more enemies as you spawn in the battlefield. So fighting them head-on may not be the smartest choice. Instead, what you can do is head to them from the side and take them down one by one while being in cover.

If you are in the open, they can all shoot toward you, and while the projectiles are slow, it can mess up timing when there are a lot of them. Once you have defeated them all, reload your weapon and get ready for chaos. This time, try to be in the open and take down as many enemies as you can in the beginning.

Then instantly go into cover, reload, and take care of the rest. Once you have defeated them, things will get a lot tougher. Run away, as there are going to be some AoE attacks at the beginning. Stay in cover and take down the enemies one by one.

In this wave, there is going to be one enemy that will be different from the others. It will be massive in size and will not go down in a single shot. You will have to shoot it a few times. It also shoots a lot more projectiles, so try to take care of it first.

Once you have defeated all of them, the mission will be completed. Make sure to collect the currency as you are defeating the enemies.

Unlock More Upgrades

You do not have to unlock every single item, as you cannot equip them all. There is a cost at the right bottom side, and when it is full, you cannot equip more things. So what you should have equipped for now should be ADS-LockOn, L-Armor, H-Armor, and the St-Bomb. You can have the Ad-Boost instead of the H-Armor or the L-Armor.

Mission 5 – Eradicate Remaining Forces

Once you have the loadout ready, head into the battlefield, and this time, your weapon will be in the open. There will be a lot of enemies around the weapon, so be careful. Pick up the weapon and do not stop moving. Keep moving and defeat the enemies nearby.

Once the enemies have been defeated, quickly reload and pick up the currency. Now do note that the enemies are going to be tanky, so you will have to move around more, as you will have to reload your weapon more often. As you have defeated the enemies, an alarm will ring, and some platforms will start rising from the underground.

After that, the mission will be completed, so immediately head back into the battlefield for the next mission. That said, selecting the Ad-Boost may be better in the next area.

Mission 6 – New Weapon

As you start this mission, you will be able to select between three weapons. You can either select the machine gun, sniper, or the normal weapon. It is up to you.

The buildings in this area will be bigger, so jump and cross them to reach the weapon quicker. Pick up the weapon and start attacking the enemies. Do note that this is going to be a different weapon. In this area, you will either have a machine gun or a sniper. If you have the former and there are more enemies around you, hold the shooting button and spray them.

It may seem like this weapon is not ideal, but the reload speed is pretty high, and you do not have to wait for it to begin shooting once you are already shooting constantly and reloading. Take advantage of the big buildings and get on top of them to defeat the enemies. As there are many buildings, a sniper can also be used ideally here.

However, do not stay in one place, as the enemies can swarm you. Once you have defeated all of the enemies, the mission will be completed, and you will be able to select the next mission. You do not have to unlock any upgrades for now, so head back into the battlefield.

Mission 7 – Suppression

The Last Salvage Squad sniper

As you start the Suppression mission, you will be able to select between three weapons again. Go with the sniper as it is going to be the best option. The sniper will be just ahead of you on the bridge. Pick it up and start attacking. The range of this sniper is immense, so do not worry about closing the gap. Make sure to stay in cover and get out only when attacking.

While this weapon is immensely strong, it is slow and has only five bullets. So make sure to utilize it perfectly. This weapon will make the run fairly easy for you, so you will not really have any trouble fighting the enemies spawning ahead. Once you have defeated all of the enemies and you are back in the base, change your loadout if you want.

However, if you do not want to change anything, head into the battlefield.

Note: The Sniper is an extremely powerful weapon that can one-shot many enemies. To one-shot most enemies, hold the aim button and wait for the circle to fill. Once it is fully charged, fire your shot to unleash a special round.

Mission 8 – Reunion – Pick Up Shiba Inu

The Last Salvage Squad shiba inu
The Last Salvage Squad Walkthrough – Shiba Inu

As you enter the battlefield, the weapon in this area is going to be just ahead, and it will be the famous Shiba Inu. As you pick it up, the Shiba Inu will be in your left hand, and you now have to attack the enemies with your right hand. So you have to fight in close quarters.

Perform the one-two combo, and for most of the enemies, this is going to be enough. However, some of them are going to be a bit more tanky, so you will have to do this combo two or three times to take them out. After you have defeated the enemies, a cutscene will commence, and you will be back on the main screen to select the next mission.

Now new supporting gear can be unlocked, so head to the machine, and there is going to be a lot of new stuff. Unlock the quick reload, as this is going to come in handy. Reloading the weapon quickly can help you overcome many challenges.

Note: We have noticed that in this mission, you won’t take any damage and there won’t be any rewards. Also, Shiba Inu is a temporary weapon.

Mission 9 – Battle Princess Activated

As you enter the battlefield, you will not be alone this time. You can choose between any weapon among the three. Once you have your weapon, start shooting the enemies and take care of them all. As you have taken care of the first wave, the next, more tanky one will spawn, and they will spawn closer to each other.

There may be some in different directions, but do note that they are unlikely to be alone. Once you have defeated them all, the third wave will appear. They will be easy to defeat, so take care of them, and the next wave will appear with some new enemies.

These new enemies are going to be really tanky, so leave them for last and take care of the other ones first. With the help of your teammate, this fight is going to take less time, and the overall experience will be much easier. So fighting them is not going to be hard.

Once the fight is over, unlock any upgrades if you want, change your loadout, and then head out for another battle.

Mission 10 – The Egg

As you start the next mission, you will again get to choose a weapon.

Your weapon is going to be at the right middle side of the area inside the stadium. Pick it up and then open fire at the enemies on the left side. There are going to be a lot, and close to each other, so missing them is going to be hard. Defeat the enemies and then be on the lookout for the next ones that are spawning.

A new enemy type will also appear in this area. It can shoot energy blast-type attacks, so take care of it first and then focus on the rest. This area will be over quickly, so there is no need to wait for anything and head right into the next battlefield.

The Breaches Fortress – Pick Up The Katana

This area features two weapons, so head down to pick up the first one and then head down further to defeat the enemies. Once you have defeated the enemies, in the middle of the area, you will notice a Katana. Pick it up, and some more enemies will spawn.

There is going to be a new enemy type shooting star-shaped projectiles. There are going to be a lot of them, and they will not stop shooting. However, you have a Katana, so keep moving and wait for an opportunity to strike. The Katana deals quite serious damage, so it will not be a problem to deal with them.

What is fun about this weapon is that you can deflect the projectiles. So use the opponent’s attacks on themselves and take care of them all. However, you do not have to defeat them only by deflecting, as the raw damage of this weapon is pretty high too.

Take care of all the enemies and collect all of the currency. Once done, the mission will be over, so unlock more upgrades or simply head back into the battlefield.

Note: The katana is a little difficult to manage as it has a cooldown. If you overuse it, the katana will overheat, and you will have to wait for a while to use it again. That said, its damage output is really high, so if you can manage it, it will become unstoppable.

Mission 12 – Mecha Insects

In this mission, make sure to select the machine gun as your weapon. The machine gun is going to be just ahead, so pick it up, and there are going to be enemies on the right side. No need to approach them. Simply defeat them from long range, as this will allow you to avoid their attacks much more easily.

Do note that the enemies are going to spawn at a long distance, so stay here and keep shooting at them. However, there are going to be some new enemies in this area who spawn on the ground. They can close the distance quickly, so take care of them first.

Even if you cannot see them, a target marker will appear on them, so you will still be able to track their position and shoot them accurately.

With that, part one of the walkthrough of The Last Salvage Squad comes to an end.
