Disclaimer
As The Life and Suffering of Prince Jerian features a large number of choices and branching paths, this Chapter 4 walkthrough is based entirely on the decisions we made during our own playthrough. Your choices may differ from ours, which means you could experience different outcomes or encounter events that never appeared in our playthrough. Likewise, some events and decisions covered in this guide will only be available if you closely follow the same choices we made, so keep that in mind while using this walkthrough.

Important Note
Make sure your Council Obedience is at least 3 but no higher than 7. You must also avoid triggering Human Tyranny, Arknian Tyranny, or Tyranny of the Tempests. Additionally, Aegerius Monrogue must not have the Power in the Council status and must be displeased with the Creed. Then, and only then, you can unlock the Jerian’s Creed event.
21 Years Old – A Farewell to Gaius

Once you start Chapter 4, a new feature, The Creed of the Blessed Arknian Empire, will become available. It can be checked from the right side of the screen under the Empire option. It shows the matters that the council needs to vote on, and there will be three options for each of them.
That said, as Jerian turns 21, the first book, A Farewell to Gaius, begins. In this book, you will learn that Gaius has been asked by the council to move to Magra, but he wants you to give him an army. There are going to be three options to choose from.
The first option improves your relationship with the Distinguished Arknians, reduces the Power of the Tempests, and reduces the Council Obedience value. It also increases your relationship with Gaius and gives him the title of Commander of the Legion, but weakens your relationship with Ovidius.
The second option improves Council Obedience, adds a point in Diplomacy, but weakens your relationship with Gaius. If you choose the third option, Rebellion will increase by one, while the Power of the Tempests and Council Obedience will both be reduced by one. It will have the same effect on Gaius as the first option.
We went with the second option.
Fratricide & Arknian Unity

In this book, you will learn more about some of your ancestors thanks to the Blood Tide. You need to make a decision on whether to accept the legacy of Appius or protect Dion.
There are going to be three options. The first option adds 15 points to your Legacy of the Tempests, the second option adds a point in Logic, and the last option removes five points from the Legacy of the Tempests while adding a point in Love and making Dion Tempests grateful.
We went with the second option.
The next book will be Arknian Unity, where you will have to make an important choice. There are going to be four options to choose from. The first option will replace the functionaries appointed by Cornelius with new ones. This will reduce Equality by one point and add one point in Council Obedience.
It will also improve your relationship with Aegerius Monrogue and Ovidius Lucullus, but weaken your relationship with Lucius Daimant. The second option removes a point from Jurisprudence and Council Obedience. It improves your relationship with Terentius and Marcius but weakens your relationship with Gnaeus.
The third option adds a point in Progress but removes one point from Council Obedience. It improves your relationship with Lucius and Gnaeus but weakens your relationship with Ovidius. The last option removes one point from Equality.
We went with the last option.
The Gilded Cage & The Wrath of the Great Houses

This event will be triggered if your ties with Agatha are not severed. In this event, Agatha asks Jerian to release her from the palace. There are going to be only two options to choose from. The first option weakens your relationship with the Great Houses but improves Love and your relationship with Agatha. Do note that this option has the Lock of Sanity and will only be unlocked if you have seven or fewer points in Blood.
The second option adds five points to the Legacy of the Tempests, removes one point from Will, adds that point to Blood, and all ties with Agatha will be severed.
With this decision, our relationship with the Great Houses reached six, so a new event, The Wrath of the Great Houses, was triggered. In this event, you will learn that some Arknians from the Great Houses have been tarnishing the Tempests in public and are plotting against you.
There are going to be three options to choose from. The first option removes three points from your relationship with the Great Houses, adds a point in Jurisprudence, and removes one point from the Power of the Tempests.
The second option strengthens your relationship with the Great Houses but weakens it with the Human Nobility. It also increases Progress by one point and adds one point in Rebellion. The third option strengthens your relationship with the Great Houses but also increases Rebellion.

We went with the second option.
