The Perfect Pencil is a surreal action platformer where you explore a world filled with numerous enemies, NPCs, and mysterious objects. Combat fills an energy gauge that you can use to heal yourself or gain special attacks. The Hotel is the second major zone that you reach after progressing through The Soft Forest. The Hotel Walkthrough

In the previous walkthrough, we explored The Soft Forest and eliminated multiple enemies. Our character gains new combat abilities that allow you to eliminate the foes within a few hits. Interacting with different NPCs allows us to learn what’s going on in this mysterious world.

We also gain Babls by defeating the enemies that are used to purchase new abilities from the NPC with a horn. Let’s dive into The Hotel to see what are the surprises we can get here.

Getting Started

Once you get inside The Hotel, use the camera to scan the blue chair. You can find the granny on your right, so approach her and get an interaction. Exhaust all her dialogues to gain Hot Cocoa that is transformed into a fragment, so collect more to grow your Willpower.

Explore The Hotel

Keep moving all the way to the right and go past the sleeping boy on the couch. Interact with the NPC that has a structure on his face. Once done, continue the journey on the right path till you find a closed window with a pile of plates nearby. Interact with the window and exhaust all the dialogues. It will give you a list of items you need to collect and give.

Press the Tab button to find out the required items. Make sure to collect A bologna sandwich, a pristine funnel, a bubble catcher, and a smouldering fire poker. Go past this window and take the stairs to move to the upper floor of The Hotel. Use the pencil to defeat the NPC wearing a shawl. He only takes three hits from your weapon to get killed.

Navigate the Upper Floor

Take a few steps back from this dead enemy and take a jump to get to the higher stairs. Use the camera to scan the wooden structure. Now, go past this enemy and eliminate another enemy in front of you. Use your healing strike to heal yourself while attacking him. Jump to the higher platform in the washroom and take out the humanoid caged enemy.

Continue progressing to the left side while killing all the enemies you encounter. Make sure you have enough health before engaging them. You may find a mattress roll enemy, humanoid caged foes, and a crawling creature. Defeating these enemies here allows you to gain more babls.

Find the NPC near the Mirrors

Take the stairs in front of you and move to the upper floor. Take down the caged enemy and destroy the blocked path with your pencil. Once you take another step, the fat pillow enemies start throwing pillows towards you to deal damage. Approach him quickly and turn on the healing strike ability to eliminate him.

Once done, jump to the higher platform to eliminate more enemies. Killing the fat pillow enemy allows you to gain 5 balbs. They are used to purchase new abilities from the NPC.

Return to the stairs from where you get to the upper platforms. Interact with the door near the next staircase to get inside the new area. You find yourself in an area filled with purple curtains at the windows. Interact with the NPC near mirrors at the end of this area to train in the fine art of skipping responsibilities. You need to use 10 Balbs in this case.

Go to the middle of the two mirrors and jump when the rope is about to touch you. This is a mini-game that allows you to gain useful rewards for completing it. Keep jumping by pressing the Space bar till the NPC stops using the flute. You gain Filament, The Grass is Always Greener, Later, Maybe for completing this task/mini-game. Return to the door from where you came in and interact with it, and get out.

Keep moving to the left and go past the stairs to enter the balcony of The Hotel. But there’s nothing to do here, so go back. Pass through the door and jump to the high platform. Continue jumping till you move into the next floor, where the mattress roll enemy is waiting for you. Hold the ‘K’ button to charge the Healing Strike and then attack an enemy to heal yourself. Defeating this enemy allows you to gain 8 Balbs.

Explore the Next Room

Once defeated, continue moving to the left and eliminate another enemy of the same type. Go all the way to the left and interact with the door to get inside the next room. Interact with the NPC sitting on the lower level of the bed. Make sure to speak with every NPC here to find out what’s going on over here.

Go past the last NPC and use the camera to scan the bed. I select the last option to sleep for 100 hours, which is the sleep of the righteous. Sleeping too much allows you to lose some Willpower. Once you wake up, go all the way to the left towards the door and interact with it to move out of this room.

Find Clues in Third Floor

The enemies that you defeated on the left in the washroom respawn. So, get ready to engage with them and eliminate to gain Balbs. Move all the way to the left after defeating them and jump to get to the upper platform. You find yourself on the third floor of The Hotel. Keep moving to the right and use the pencil to attack the strange flower till its petals spread.

Get Inside The Soft Forest

Go to the path on the right and interact with the structure to gain a Golden Seed. Once obtained, move all the way to the left and jump across the stairs to move onto the balcony. Jump down the lower balconies till you find Filament Carl’s Story. Jump down to get out of The Hotel proximity. Keep moving to the left, cross the bridge, and jump down to move into The Soft Forest.

You drop in front of the skill master, so interact with him to acquire a new ability for your character. You can purchase Strike That’s So Bold It Becomes Double. Purchasing this ability costs you 250 Balbs.

This is the evolution of the Super focused strike for the bold technique. After executing a first charged strike, wait for the glint of light, then press attack again to execute a second powerful blow. Once you purchase it, you find yourself in a training arena. Use this ability on a mattress or a structure in the middle.

Mount the Filament

Jump to the upper platform to get inside The Hotel after returning to The Soft Forest. Pass through the bridge and ring the bell in front of you. An NPC cycling approaches you and offers you his help at anytime. He tells you to bring the filament to him to extract its full potential. This NPC teaches you how to mount them.

You can see the benefits of each Filament in The Perfect Pencil. The Carl’s Story bonus allows your sword to deal more damage. The sword attack cooldown slightly increases with its Malus. The bonus of The Grass is Always Greener, Later, Maybe allows the time before the healing strike charge fades slightly increased.

The Malus let the time to charge the Healing Strike increase. W0000SH’s bonus can decrease the sword attack cooldown, and Malus can mitigate the sword attack damage. Select any Filament and press the ‘J’ key to equip it.

This NPC now offers something more that’s extremely useful. You can purchase new items like OptHolder and multiple constructions. Buying these items required you to spend Balbs. Now, take the shortcut to move back to the third floor of The Hotel.

Defeat the Boss

Continue moving all the way to the right till you find the strange light source. Get inside to enter the new area with the giant enemy. This enemy has a big bundle of pillows, and he throws them towards you like a bullet. Use the Healing Strike Ability while attacking this enemy to continue gaining health.

Defeating this boss can be challenging because he takes multiple hits to be killed. Make sure to hit 2~3 hits and back off to dodge his roll attack. It’s best to deal damage when he’s standing in the corners after the roll attack. He becomes vulnerable for several seconds, giving you enough time to deal damage. Keep your Healing Strike active to continue healing your character in combat.

Once defeated, the map will be updated, and he feels bad for himself. Go all the way to the right, and you find multiple enemies all over this area. Use the camera to scan the pillows and press the ‘L’ key to unlock a new skill. Now, you can press this button in combat or while exploring to dash. Use the dash ability to deal massive damage to enemies and finish them off.

Open the Safe Lock

Take a few steps ahead and jump by pressing the Spacebar, and quickly press the ‘L’ button to dash. Doing so allows you to get to the higher platform easily. Find the locker on the left side of the large pink bed.

Approach the locker and use the camera to scan it. You need to try the combination to open this safe lock. Try the ‘3153’ combination to open it. There’s a picture of a man with his dog inside the safe. Use the camera to take a picture of a picture.

The picture transformed into the Fragment that increases Willpower for your character. Right now, I only managed to collect 4 Fragments in The Perfect Pencil.

Unlock New Ability

Go all the way to the right and drop down to the lower level. Take the stairs to move further down, and scan the lamp in front of you. Choose to take the batteries and add them to your inventory.

Take a few steps ahead to the left and stand near the door. Noises are coming from behind this door. However, take the stairs in front of you to move down. You can find the skill master from this lower level of this area. Approach him and interact to obtain new abilities.

You can purchase Super-Fast-Almost-Lightning-Fast Strike with 150 Balbs. This move is executed by attacking while dashing. It allows you to strike a fast blow that is more powerful than the basic attack. Once you acquire the ability, you find yourself in a training arena. Make sure to attack after a dash to strike with a quick blow.

Obtain New Filament & Useful Items

Once done, jump to the higher platform by jumping and dashing across the stairs. Use the pencil to destroy the blocked path to enter the new area. Continue moving to the left and drop down to the lower level after reaching the end. Once you reach the rightmost platform, jump ahead and use the dash to get inside the narrow passage.

Explore Area Outside The Hotel

Keep moving till you reach the end and interact with the Filament (All (in) on number 5) to obtain it. You can equip it if you have enough Balbs in your pocket. Return and drop down the lower level to continue moving to the right. Find the orb and destroy it from one of the platforms here. You can also get the Emergency kit for relaxing, which is a crucial item in The Perfect Pencil.

Continue your journey on the right and destroy the glass beaker at the end to obtain more Balbs. Take the door from the top to get out of the balcony to collect the Golden paper letter. Get out of The Hotel and move to the right side to obtain The Early Bird Catches The Worm. Once you reach the end, jump to the higher platform to find the king sitting on a chair while the Gardner doing his work.

Approach the lady NPC on the right side, who offers you to purchase new items like Lost Coin Gulp Tea, Chicken’s Day, and a bundle of white mold in a glass cube. Go to the lower level and interact with the tree house, upgrade the equipped Filament. That’s where The Hotel Walkthrough in The Perfect Pencil concludes.
