Act 10: Deep Below Ground

After talking to Guila in the Oasis Village, you’ll have to go to Dr. Sennet to get some medicine for Guila. When you’ve acquired the medicine from Dr. Sennet, take it to Guila, and she’ll start feeling well, and depart for Liones.

Once that’s done, return to Dr. Sennet, and you’ll find her with Sarasik. She’ll ask you to deliver some medicine to Vernas. You’ll find him in the north of the village.

Talk to Vernas, and he’ll ask you to gather some Butterfly Grass from near the village. You can find this herb to the west of the village. Once you’ve gathered three units of the herb, return to Vernas.

However, you won’t find him there. There’s a piece of a map here with a location marked on it. Now, the party will decide to go to the marked location.

The Man In The Black Costume

When you arrive at the marked location on the map by following the quest marker, you’ll find the strange man in the black costume.

Here, you’ll have to fight this strange man. If you reduce his HP to 40%, the battle will end in your victory. The man in the black costume will then leave. He tried to attack the people, but Sarasik blocked the attack and got injured.

You’ll then have to check up on Sarasik after the man in the black costume leaves. Shortly, Vernas will arrive during the cutscene.

Talk to Vernas here, and he’ll ask you to collect a Guardian Stone from a statue. He tells you that the stone is located on a giant beast’s statue.

The Claw Of The Beast

Follow the quest marker to reach the location of interest. Here, you’ll find a gigantic statue with a gem under it.

Approaching the statue will trigger a cutscene, where Tristan takes the gem inside the statue, but the statue breaks, unsealing a powerful beast. The party manages to get away from it.

Now, you’ll have to return to the Oasis Village. When you arrive at the usual location where you find Vernas, he’ll be missing again. Talk to Sarasik, and he’ll tell you that what you have isn’t a guardian stone, but a sealing stone.

It will also be revealed that Vernas has taken some villagers with him to some ruins. It’s clear that Vernas is up to something bad, and Sarasik asks to come with you as you search for the ruins.

In The Dark

You can find the ruins towards the southeast direction from the village. When you get here, you’ll find a gigantic hole in the ground. You’ll have to jump into it.

Once you’re down, you’ll find a brazier here. You can light up these braziers by attacking them with a fire-element character, such as Tristan himself. You can also use Guila’s adventure skill to ignite these braziers from a distance.

After you light up the first brazier, you’ll be attacked by a group of desert bandits. You’ll have to defeat all five of them before being able to progress.

Now, you’ll have to go deeper into the ruins. You’ll encounter some braziers in the way, and you can light them up to decrease the darkness in the area. You’ll eventually arrive in front of a locked gate. There’s a puzzle here and two blocks.

The Gate Puzzle Underground

There are nine switches on the ground. There are a total of three patterns, with each one appearing three times on the switch. There are also two blocks nearby.

You have to activate all the switches with the same pattern at once. The pattern you have to press here is a constellation pattern that looks similar to an upside-down “Y” shape.

Once you press all three switches with the pattern, it will unlock a gate to your left. When you go there to check out, you’ll find a brazier here.

Use the fire mechanism nearby to light up this brazier, and it will light up in blue flames. This will also unlock the main gate, but the blue flame games slowly get locked again, so you’ll have to rush back.

Exploring The Underground Ruins

As you enter the gate, you’ll find many braziers here. If you light up these braziers, it will cause some flame spirits to appear. Here, you’ll find a wooden gate to your right with a barrel of explosives in front of it. There’s also another gate to your left here, but this one is currently locked.

Use the fire mechanism to ignite the barrel of explosives, and that will destroy the gate. Be sure to stay outside of the explosives’ range, or you’ll take a ton of damage.

Now that the door is destroyed, it will open the path to a new chamber. Here, you’ll find a brazier in the middle of the room with a fire mechanism near it. Use the fire mechanism to light up the brazier, and it will go up in blue flames.

This will unlock the door to the left in the previous room. You’ll have to hurry up before the blue flames go out and the door closes again.

Spiders In The Dark

You’ll encounter some traps in the next section. If you make it halfway, you’ll find another brazier, and it’s next to an iron door. Light up the brazier with fire attacks, and it will light up blue, unlocking the gate next to it.

As you go in, you’ll find a ton of spiders here. These spiders are weak to fire, and they’ll move away from any braziers you’ve ignited.

There’s a wooden door a little deeper into the room, to your left. There’s also a barrel of explosives and a fire mechanism. Use the Book of Stars to move the barrel and the fire mechanism near the door.

You have to use the fire mechanism to light up the barrel, which has to be placed next to the wooden door. This will open up the path deeper into the ruins.

Friend Or Foe

As you go deeper, you’ll find webs blocking your path. You can use fire attacks to destroy these webs. Shortly ahead, you’ll find the man in the black costume.

Without asking why he’s here, Tioreh decides to attack him, and this will lead to a battle. The man in the black costume uses the Grimoire as a weapon for this battle. Every time he uses an attack, it fills a portion of his stun meter.

After using eight attacks with the grimoire, he’ll get stunned, and you can focus fully on the offense against him. Once you’ve defeated him in battle, Tristan will talk to him, and they’ll be able to resolve their differences.

Banner will also arrive, and he’ll tell you what Vernas has been up to. You’ll then find some villagers trapped in the webs nearby. You’ll have to go there to free them.

When you’re trying to free the villagers, you’ll be attacked by the spiders. Defeat them quickly, and once you’ve freed all the villagers, Sarasik will offer to lead them out, and you can go deeper into the ruins to confront Vernas.

Trapped Hawk

As you go inside the next chamber, you’ll find Vernas here. After a cutscene, you’ll find Hawk stuck in a web. In this battle, you have to defeat the enemies and make sure Hawk survives.

Hawk’s HP is visible under the top-left corner of the screen, below the quest details. Once you’ve defeated all the spiders and Hawk has survived, you’ll have to fight the Soldier Spider.

Hawk will run away after freeing himself, and you won’t have to worry about him anymore. But this spider is bigger and stronger than the others you’ve faced so far. Fortunately, the man in the black costume will help you out in this battle.

Once you’ve defeated the Soldier Spider, you’ll find a room on the right side of the chamber.

To The Top

As you pursue Vernas, you’ll end up at a dead end. Here, the man in the black costume will offer to go check up on whether the blue flame brazier has opened a gate.

He’ll find out that the gate has unlocked, but you’ll have to hurry up to get on top because it closes shortly after. Now, you’ll have to light up the brazier on the ground.

As soon as the brazier is fully lit, go to the cliff on your right and jump onto the hand of the broken statue. From the hand, go to the shoulders to end up on the statue’s other hand, and you can get to the other side from there.

Keep going up, and you’ll find pushing blocks next. Time your approach and pass those pushing blocks. There’s a web on the other side here. Destroy it with fire attacks.

Next, you’ll have to go up on some web bridges, but watch out for the boulder here. Keep going up. There are more web bridges, but if you keep going, you’ll eventually end up at the iron gate. Pass through it before it closes, or you’ll have to do the whole thing again.

Back To The Village

Once you pass through the iron gate, you’ll enter a chamber. Open the chamber’s doors, and you’ll arrive back in the desert. Sarasik will come running towards you.

Talk to Sarasik, and he’ll tell you that Vernas dropped a map, and that’s why he was able to figure out where you’ll come out. After that, you’ll have to talk to the man in black. He’ll reveal his name to be Bug.

Tioreh also apologizes for her behavior, and Bug goes away. You’ll still get Bug’s SR as a reward for the quest. Now, you’ll have to head back to the Oasis Village.

You’ll find Dr. Sennet standing near the southern gate to Oasis Village. Talk to her, and that will trigger a cutscene. Act 10 will be completed after the cutscene.
