Act 6: Canyon Of Greed

After you leave the mines on the cart, you’ll find yourself in the Sand Valley. This is where the Gorra are from, but they’ve been kicked out by Waralga’s brother, Laruka.

As you enter the Sand Valley, the first thing you’ll notice is the large barrier in the distance. There is a frightened Gorra nearby.

If you approach the Gorra, you’ll find out it’s Tata Komi’s cousin, Nene Komi. Nene Komi will reveal that Laruka also has an Abyss Flower, and he had been corrupting the Gorra. He’ll ask you to look for his friends nearby.

Go towards the barrier, and you’ll find Nene Komi’s friends there. When you get there, three Abyss Monsters will start to attack you. You’ll have to defeat them.

You’ll be able to talk to Nene Komi’s friends, but they’re already corrupted and will pass away shortly. Tristan will then ask Nene Komi to take the party near the barrier so they can take a closer look.

Breaching The Barrier

You’ll find the next quest point near the barrier. When you get there, Nene Komi will tell you about these strange pillars that are powering up the barrier. He’ll tell you that you can get to the two of them easily, but the third one is hard to reach.

The first pillar is toward the southwest. When you get there, you’ll find many Abyss Monsters. All you have to do here is to purify the pillar with the Book of Stars, and it will disappear.

If the Purification ability is not active right now, you can activate it through the Purification constellation stone, which is near every pillar.

Purifying the pillar will cause it to disappear, and the barrier will shrink slightly. Now, you have to go for the second pillar. The second pillar is in the northeast direction.

If you’re unsure of the pillar’s location, you can spot the purple line connecting it to the barrier and trace its source. You’ll be able to find the pillars easily this way.

When you get to the second pillar, you’ll find more corrupted Gorra and Abyss Warriors here. Once you purify the second pillar, the barrier will shrink even more, opening the path to the third corruption pillar.

From the second pillar, take the path towards the east, and that will lead you straight to the next quest point. As you get there, Nene Komi will join you.

The third pillar is shortly ahead, but when you get there, you’ll have to fight against an Abyss Monster. Defeat the Ruinous Servant of the Abyss, and you’ll be able to purify the third pillar and make the barrier disappear.

Laruka

Now that the barrier is gone, you can easily get to the Abyss Flower from where you purified the third pillar. The Abyss Flower here has bloomed and is protected by another barrier.

When you approach the Abyss Flower, you’ll be attacked by Laruka. He has been corrupted, but the battle is overall similar to the fight against Waralga.

Despite being corrupted, Laruka retains his sense of self. Once you’ve defeated the boss, he’ll turn to dust. The Abyss Flower will absorb his body.

Now, you have to find a way to purify the Abyss Flower and be done with it.

Purifying The Abyss Flower

Before you can purify the Abyss Flower, you’ll have to destroy the barrier surrounding it. If you look around, you’ll find a few cannons here.

Aim the cannons at the barrier and shoot. It will take a few shots until the barrier completely vanishes. You might have to deal with a few Abyss Monsters before you’re able to man the cannons.

Once the barrier is gone, you’ll have to get to the flower. Look at the bottom of the cliff, you’ll find a mushroom that you can jump on. There’s another mushroom on top of the cliff, and jumping on that one will lead you straight to the Abyss Flower.

Use the Book of Stars’ Purification ability to destroy the Abyss Flower. Once the flower is purified, there’s a path behind it that will lead you out of the Sand Valley. Nene Komi will lead you to it.

Parting With The Sand Valley

There’s a short cutscene here, and after that, you’ll have to defeat some Abyss Monsters. Get rid of the monsters and check up on Nene Komi.

After that, you have to chase the Gorra that attacked Nene Komi during the cutscene. You’ll find it shortly ahead on the path. Once the suspicious Gorra has been defeated, look around, and you’ll find a scholar.

If you talk to the scholar named Sarasik, he’ll reveal that the nearby village of Dalmally has suddenly turned into a desert. The scholar will choose to stay behind to research some more, while urging Tristan and his party to continue on their travels, and that will also end Act 6.
