Chapter 5: Camp
- As usual, open the envelope in front of you.
- As you’ll notice, things are a little different this time. You’ll have to assemble the letter, for which you need to find three pieces of paper that comprise the letter.
- You can find one piece easily enough, but first – have a look at the hardbound book on the small wooden table.
- If you open the book, you’ll find a couple of page spreads that provide hints to puzzles in this chapter.
- Go to the second page spread for hints on how to solve the picnic basket puzzle.
- Then, put the book down and look behind you to find the picnic basket.
- In this puzzle, your goal is not necessarily to stack the cup and plates, but rather to move the biggest plate from its position at the far left.
- As a hint, first stack all the items on the far left, which can be done in a few moves.
- Then, stack all items except the biggest plate, in the middle of the basket.
- Finally, move the plate to the right to uncover the piece of the letter.
- That’s one of three pieces done.
- Now, look behind you and at the wooden box with the strange lock on it.
- This lock has five switches, and each one can be at one of 3 positions.
- The clues for these switches can be found inscribed on various objects in the camp. You can find them at:
- On the arm of the chair where the letter is
- On the table with the books
- On the tree between the tent and the fishing boat
- On the tree to the right of the barbecue grill
- On the tree stump that the red toolbox is on
- When you’re ready, set the switches as shown in the screenshot below to proceed.
- Pick the rope inside the box.
- Now you can fix the hammock that’s past the campfire. However, you’ll need to use the right knot for it.
- To learn this knot, check the camping book on the table again.
- On the first spread, you’ll find illustrations of hands. Memorize this order (or simply refer to the screenshot).
- Now go to the hammock and use the rope on the hammock. Tie the rope with the following sequence: right, left, right, right, left.
- With the hammock fixed, you can pick up the piece of paper below the hammock.
- For the final piece of paper, first approach the fishing boat.
- Keep hitting the handle to reel in.
- Interact with what you reeled in, and then pick up the fishing hook.
- Now turn around and examine the barbecue grill.
- Use the fishing hook with the grill.
- Then, guide the key through the grill ‘maze’, so that you get it to the open area to the bottom of the screen.
- Once you get the key there, pick it up.
- Now look at the red toolbox and use the key on the lock. Twist the key and pick up the shovel inside the toolbox.
- Now you need something to dig, and a treasure map would be just the thing.
- Look at the bottle near the fishing boat and examine it.
- Open the bottle to find a treasure map. The ‘X’ that marks the spot is in the middle of a triangle that is marked by the moon, a five-pointed star, and an eight-pointed star.
- Put the map away and look at the area between the tent and the chairs.
- Here, you’ll find the five-pointed star on the guitar, the eight-pointed star on the tent, and the moon on the… well, it’s in the sky.
- Pull out your camera and take a picture that includes all three objects.
- Put the camera away and examine the shiny thing on the ground.
- Use your shovel on the half-buried object to dig up a bottle, and you’ll find the third piece of paper inside. Pick it up.
- Go back to the letter on the chair now and use each of the three pieces of the letter on the letter.
- Assemble the letter as shown in the screenshot below.
- Before closing out this chapter, we have a couple of things we need to do.
- First, pick up the fragment of the photograph lying on the ground.
- Now look around to find a cabin in the distance.
- You can’t make it out clearly, so pull your photograph and aim it at the cabin.
- Take a picture right when the lightning strikes and lights up the cabin.
- This will complete the chapter.
