Weeping Swan: Ten Days Of The City’s Fall is a visual novel in which the path to the goal is just as important as the destination itself, and the walkthrough for this game does justice to that philosophy. During the ten challenging days, you will be making difficult decisions, finding out more about what is going on in the city, and exploring and solving a few puzzles. The following walkthrough will not contain any explicit spoilers to allow you to experience the full immersion into the story; however, expect it to provide a balance of guidance and freedom.
After a morose monologue by yet unknown character we see Scholar Wang and Officer Yang are having drinks and a general good time. They are having a drink called ‘Nuer Hong” which is brewed for 18 years. Or so he would have you think. Scholar wang is using libation to get the Officer to have his soldiers back off from demanding huge sums to the people of the town. Officer Yang wants to listen to the famed courtesan Su Lianyan pour his wine. The name causes our protagonist to see the people as animals due to some diseases called “Beast’s Affliction” and is barely saved when a courier arrives. This causes the officer to hurriedly leave.
Our so far unnamed protagonist is called Fang Zhiyou. He leaves the bar after talking to Scholar Yang. There is a looming threat of Marquess Xingping coming back to raze the city of Yangzhou or even the Tatar Hordes. Scholar Yang calls behind Zhiyou as he leaves with the wine. But doesn’t say anything. Zhiyou wonders what Yang meant to say. We learn that Sun Lianyan had reportedly jumped from the Twenty-Four Bridges one night to end her life. Zhiyou will then eavesdrop on a conversation between a father and a son. This is followed by an encounter with a beggar.
You can choose to give him coins or not. I chose to give him coins. Zhiyou then lands on a haystack for the night and we learn when his Beast’s Affliction strikes, he sees cityfolk as swine and cattle, the troops as wolves and Officer Yang as a jackal. He wonders about others as he falls asleep. He wakes to thunderous noise. He learns its 1-3 PM. He goes to investigate the cannon fire and reaches a marketplace near Dongguan Street. He hears two townfolk speak about cannonfire from the north. We meet Old Man Lin now.
He says it’s the Field Marshall’s men taking care of the Marquess and for us to not be afraid. He then sells some fine clothese and scurries away. Zhiyou then heads north. He sees Minister Shi riding with the army.
At the north wall, Zhiyou finds that the cannonfire is coming from both sides. The attackers and the defenders. Zhiyou realises it’s the Tatar horde that is attacking. Zhiyou’s madness returns. He see the blue armored soldiers as Azure jackals, the red ones as Crimson Wolves and the white ones into White Boars.
Zhiyou wonders if he has wondered into the Lion Camel Kingdom. The legendary city from Journey to the West. Zhiyou then hears what he thinks is Su Lianyan’s voice. This will end the chapter.
