Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for The Wild at Heart. This story-oriented walkthrough will guide you through completing the game’s story.
The Wild at Heart is a game of exploration and adventure, so be sure to explore and use your spritelings as much as you can, wherever you can. If you’re stuck, our walkthrough will help you out. For more information on The Wild at Heart, check out the official website here.
Part 1 (Escape)
Wake says to get his supplies, so begin by moving around the room and picking up everything you can see.
You will specifically need to pick up: the Map from the table to the right of the stairs, the Gaming System to the bottom-right of the room, and the Plans to the bottom-left of the room (near the cans and the bean bag).

Go up the stairs when you’ve picked up all three. Now go to the far left to the fridge and use it to get your rations.
Optionally, you can go to the right of the TV and open up a toolbox to find some junk and a bag of Chompz.
Exit through the door. Pick up the strange object just south of the kennel. Use the Gustbuster on the pile of brown leaves until you get the key.

Optionally, you can vacuum another pile of leaves here (to the right of the chimney) and kick the garbage bags. You’ll get junk from these.
When ready to leave, interact with the lock on the yard gate and head north. After the cutscenes, pick up the junk in the clearing. You’ll also find a pinwheel here, which you can vacuum to get some more junk.
Head north to reach a gate and go to the right to find a windmill. Use your vacuum on it to open the gate. Past the gate, take a left at the lake and follow the path to a raised cliff over the lake. There’s a windmill here that will open the way ahead. There’s also another toolbox here.

You can hop down from the broken wooden bridge to the right. From here, head north again until you find a tree. Head into the tree.
