Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for The Wild at Heart. This story-oriented walkthrough will guide you through completing the game’s story.

Sunken Grotto (contd.)

After getting some rest at the camp in the Sunken Grotto, form up a party of spritelings and head west past the gates you opened to find a Crud Croaker.

This enemy can only be fought by your twiglings, who can withstand the creature’s toxic fumes, so send them out to battle.

Defeating the Crud Croaker will open the path west.

Continuing west takes you to a closed gate. Switch to Kirby and enter the log that’s to the east of the gate, and you’ll end up in an area that overlooks where Wake is.

Toss 5 spritelings onto the switch near the gate and then have Kirby collect them from above.

Then as Kirby, toss those spritelings to the switch to the west, and as Wake, toss 5 more spritelings onto the first switch. Pressing both switches down will permanently open the path west.

Head west as Wake and then north to tackle another Lotblop. North of the Lotblop is what looks like a dead end, but you’ll notice a windmill wheel on the other side of the river.

Toss 4 spritelings over to the other side. Once the windmill is fixed, have Wake vacuum it to open a gate to the east.

Switch to Kirby and head north past the opened gate and toss your spritelings onto the higher ledge with the breakable wall. Send all your spritelings there and squeeze through the log to join them.

With the wall destroyed, clear the corruption node as Kirby, and then toss your spritelings back down from the ledge, and rejoin with them via the log.

Head west from where the corruption was to find a closed flower. Toss 5 twiglings to open it up. You can now head south and reunite with Wake to return to full strength.

Do so and return to where the corruption was, to the east of the (now-open) flower.

Head northeast and onwards to fight the Gloomcaps.

Continue east and then south to find a wooden ramp. Send 10 spritelings to push the ramp to the east.

This opens up a shortcut, so now you can return to camp and rest. I recommend doing so, particularly if you it’s already the evening or night for you.
