7 Days Blood Moons – 10 Best Beginner And Advanced Tips

10 Best Beginner and Advanced Tips 7 Days Blood Moons

Discover everything you need to know about the 10 beginner and advanced tips for the 7 Days Blood Moons, including how to progress easily.

7 Days Blood Moons is a 4v1 fight to the death. Survivors fortify bases and scavenge materials, while the zombie master commands and possesses the Horde to crush them. Play solo or with friends. Up to four survivors can team up against a human or an AI zombie master who will prevail.

There’s also the controversial cell-shaded art style. But at its core, basically, 7 Days Blood Moons is a PvP spin-off of 7 Days to Die, where a team of four players defends a location from Zombie Hordes.

They can scavenge the surrounding area to get various resources to upgrade their characters and upgrade their base during the match. Try to bottleneck the zombies with your defenses and conserve ammo by using your melee weapon for later nights.

How to Play 7 Days Blood Moons?

7 Days Blood Moons is more of a loot and shoot experience set in a much smaller environment than the real 7 Days to Die. There’s no actual survival crafting going on. It’s more of a case of running around the map collecting resources either from containers or mining them from the world. After that, you use that to build various pre-chosen blocks that you start the match with.

You build those with resources found in the world, and you fight a bunch of zombies for presumably increasingly difficult rounds. One of the players can control the zombie master, as it’s called, which controls the various zombies that can spawn and where they spawn.

It does seem as though you unlock your perks and your weapons and your blocks on a per-character basis. You use the resources you collect from the matches to upgrade your weapons, your constructibles, and your perks.

Best Beginner Tips For 7 Days Blood Moons

1. Choose the Best Perks

Perks in 7 Days Blood Moons are essential for every player. Choosing the best perks allows you to gain passive bonuses to your character. Perks are divided into five distinct categories, and each serves its own unique purpose.

Spending points in the Mobility branch increases zombies’ movement speed on the ground. Stingy Sneakers is the best perk to invest skill points in because it grants +10 damage against isolated survivors. Last Will is another best perk in the Mobility branch because it allows you to stay active for 5s after reaching 0 HP before collapsing.

Perks

Spending points in the Resilience branch increases zombies’ HP. Invest points in the Obedient perk because it grants +20 movement speed for zombies when under the influence of the zombie call. Splinter and Nail perk grants +15% chance to inflict bleeding with. Spending points in the Swarm branch increases zombies’ critical chances when part of a swarm.

Relentless is the best perk in this branch because it grants you +10% attack speed for Hunters. Make sure to spend some points in Fury to increase zombies’ damage. Thick Skinned is the best perk here because it grants +5% damage taken for all zombies. The Aberration branch increases the chances of zombies affecting survivors with a negative effect.

2. Upgrade your Weapons

Upgrading the weapon to the max level allows you to deal massive damage to enemies in 7 Days Blood Moons. Weapons are upgraded from the Workbench in the Equipment section. You can choose to equip Small Arms, Rifles, Shotguns, Hammers, and Knives. You need points to upgrade your weapons.

Defeating the enemies in this survival game is a challenging task, and having the best upgraded weapon makes you a powerful character.

Weapon upgrades

Choose the weapon that suits your playstyle and synergizes with your gameplay tactics. As you progress, the enemies will become more powerful, so upgrade the weapons to deal more damage and increase their durability and rate of fire.

3. Manage the Stamina

Managing stamina is essential in this game, or else you die really soon. You consume stamina when you use the melee weapon against enemies or to destroy items.

Keep a keen eye on the stamina bar while using the spear. Running fast also consumes stamina, so managing the stamina is very crucial. You become vulnerable to enemies if you’re out of stamina.

Pause while using the melee weapon to automatically fill the stamina bar. You will encounter the horde of zombies while exploring the world, and that’s where you need to manage your stamina. Being vulnerable to zombies means that you can’t attack them, and they can easily kill you.

4. Loot Everything

7 Days Blood Moons is all about survival and building new materials. Make sure to loot everything you find during each run. Approach the stash and hold the F key to loot the items. Explore the area thoroughly and collect the essentials that you need to build something new.

Some of the items are health-related, and the other are used to build new structures. Use your spear to destroy the suspicious items that may have the good loot inside them. However, we recommend you loot the items only during the daytime.

5. Use Spear To Eliminate Enemies

You don’t have any effective weapons at the initial stages of the game. If you somehow get your hands on the best decent weapon, like Rifles, you may need the ammo. Using the Spear to eliminate the enemies while managing the stamina allows you to save the ammo for the bigger fights.

You can switch to the guns while fighting the zombies, but make sure you don’t use all the ammo. Upgrade the spear to deal more damage to enemies. This is basically a melee weapon, meaning you can only eliminate the enemies when they’re closer to you. Use the gun to defeat zombies from a safe distance.

6. Stay Close to Your Friends

The world is filled with AI zombies, and they can attack you from anywhere. You will never know from where the zombie can jump at you. Having your teammate near you gives you a plus point. Your friends can see the zombies rushing towards you, which you aren’t unaware of. A cluster of zombies will also attack you, and if you’re exploring the world alone, then you will not survive.

While your teammate can use guns to eliminate the enemies, you can equip a melee weapon to dominate the enemies in melee combat. Staying near your friends also allows you to get more loot.

Sometimes your teammate will find the good loot, and they can call you get collect them. Staying away from your friends can put you in danger and stop you from getting more loot. Communicating with teammates allows you to come up with better strategies.

7. Use the Trap

Placing the traps at the crucial areas allows you to eliminate the zombies without engaging them. Wooden Spikes Trap is the best in this case, as it stops zombies from reaching you and your teammate. Press the right click, select the Wooden Spikes Trap from the wheel menu to place it. Take out your hammer and hit the structure to build it.

Hitting again with your hammer allows you to turn it into the Reinforced Spikes Trap. Metal Spikes Trap is the max level of this item that you can reach by hitting it three times with the hammer using the required materials. Place the traps in different locations, where the zombies can approach you.

8. Build the Wooden Blocks

Wooden Blocks are the essential item to build for several reasons. If you want to reach a higher position in any area, build the Wooden Blocks to climb them. Most of the time, you will be surrounded by multiple enemies, and building the wall of Wooden Blocks can save your life. This allows you to stop the zombies from reaching you. This acts as a resistance to the zombies so that they can’t pass through if you make a wall. Open the wheel menu by right-clicking and selecting the structure of Wooden Block. Place the structure and hit it with the hammer to build it.

9. Use the Medkits

Enemies attack you in 7 Days Blood Moons from anywhere and deal damage to your character. You can acquire the medkits while exploring the world. You can use them to heal yourself and your character as well. Using the medkits heals your character immediately. Make sure you have this item in your inventory and use it to heal your character. The game is about surviving with your allies. If you’re teammate is low on health, then you must heal him to continue the journey together.

10. Cranker is your Best Gun

Cranker gun

Eliminating the zombies is a difficult task in 7 Days Blood Moons. Cranker is the rifle that deals 211 damage and has a firing rate of 60. This weapon is your best bet to kill the zombies from a safe distance. Cranker has a magazine size of 6, meaning this weapon can have 6 bullets at a time. A single headshot is enough to eliminate the zombie. However, the reload time is longer for this Rifle. But you can switch to your melee weapons if you’re closer to the zombies.

Advanced Tips & Tricks in 7 Days Blood Moons

Below are some advanced tips and tricks to initiate your journey in 7 Days Blood Moons.

  • Daily Resource Spawn – Every day, ammo, crafting materials, and first aid kits spawn across the map. These are vital for survival, but good news, resources are shared, so you don’t need to race your teammates to grab everything like I was.
  • First aid kits are shared – You can hold up to three first aid kits. While they’re technically shared, healing doesn’t drain your teammates’ kits. So, if you’re hurting, don’t be shy. Hit that heal button and let them fly.
  • Conserve your ammo – Ammo is extremely scarce, and you’ll likely run out before the end of day four, which is the final night. During the day, when only one or two zombies show up at a time, use melee to save your bullets for those brutal night attacks.
  • Fortify smartly – Resources will also run out fast, even faster than the liquids traveling through your body after drinking too much murky water. Before Nightfall, break and block off extra entrances to your base. Your access points mean stronger defenses and easier upgrades for you.
  • Chase the Legendary Drops – Sometimes you’ll see an alert saying a special box was located. That’s a legendary weapon drop that can put the game on its head. It won’t show up on your mini map until you’re close enough, so get out there and search. The risk is well worth it.
  • Two Separate Progression Paths – There are two leveling systems, one for survivors and one for zombies. Finishing a match earns upgrade materials, but only for the side you play. So, if you want both, alternate the roles.
  • Know your zombie types – There are five hunters, wreckers, sappers, tanks, and support. Each plays a different role. For example, if survivors are tucked up in a strong base, don’t spam the hunters. Send in the wreckers and sappers to tear down the defenses first.
  • Daytime sabotage – As a zombie master, it’s tough to kill survivors during the day, but you can destroy their bases and defenses while they’re out scavenging. Even the smallest amount of damage can be inflicted when the Horde Knight hits.
  • Leave a defender behind – For the survivor side, assign one player to stay back and guard your base during daytime scavenging runs. A sneaky zombie master can easily wreck your fort if you leave it unguarded.
  • Deny the resources – Zombie masters can’t see resource spawns on the map, but they can destroy them. That means ammo, meds, and materials can all be wiped out before the survivors reach them.
