Understanding The Gameplay
The main gameplay system is pretty straightforward: you need to attack enemies while managing your stamina and simultaneously avoiding the incoming projectiles.Â
The stamina bar is really important, as sprinting, jumping, and attacking all consume it. What’s more, it depletes very quickly, so you need to regenerate it before you engage an enemy during exploration.
Looting Is Everything
Especially in your early game, you need to defeat most enemies that you come across and destroy all the breakable objects to get as much loot as possible.
However, don’t pick up useless items that will bloat your inventory. The things that you need to focus on include better armor and weapons.
Additionally, always pick up the red potions for your health and the green potions, which will instantly regenerate your stamina. Stack a few bronze keys too, which will allow you to access chests and certain locked doors.
Engaging Enemies
There isn’t a dodge mechanic in Forgotten Blood, and you really have to rely on your shield to block attacks. However, movement can be more useful than staying on the defensive.
Keep circling around enemies while attacking, and you don’t even need to use sprint, which consumes stamina. Doing so will allow you to get out of the way of most incoming attacks with ease.
Beginning The Adventure
After spawning into your new world, head straight and take two lefts to reach your first checkpoint shrine with the green orb known as the crystal. Every time you get defeated in battle, this is where you’re going to respawn until you find the next checkpoint.
From the crystal, turn back and jump down into the poison pool. Next, take two rights to spot a hole in the wall. Keep following the path ahead to ascend using the ladder at the end. Continue ahead and defeat the enemies in the next room.
After clearing the enemies, use the ridge on the left side of the room to jump to the platform in front of you. Use the lever on your left after jumping down to unlock a shortcut. Next, head outside to enter the Forgotten Valley.
Traversing The Forgotten Valley
Head right as soon as you enter the valley. Defeat the skeleton enemies in your path and continue progressing. A trick to defeat the skeleton enemies is to keep circling around them and hitting them simultaneously.
Cross bridges and stick to the linear path ahead to arrive at a lift. In order to activate the lift, make sure that you’ve equipped the small white stone from your inventory. Press the block button to bring out your dagger to reflect the light and move the lift.
After exiting the lift, head left and take another left at the end near the bridge. You’ll spot another lift inside the cave, so use this lift to descend.
Once you reach the bottom, pick up the silver key from the table in front. Next, open the chests on your left to get some useful items. Head outside and use the silver key to unlock another shortcut here.
After unlocking the shortcut, head back to the hallway and keep heading straight. You can either fight the enemies here or run past them to the other side. Go through the green wall on the other side to progress.
Once you get back to the valley, head right first to open another treasure chest. Then take the path on your left to reach the Abandoned Crossroads.
Exploring The Abandoned Crossroads
As soon as you enter this area, keep to your right to find a new checkpoint, which will also act as your respawn point.
Go outside, turn right, and keep heading straight. You’re in for a long stroll in this section. Make sure to turn right once you spot the white tree.
Defeat the group of skeletons at the end. Make sure to lure one skeleton away at a time and not engage the entire group at once. After defeating the enemies, continue following the linear path to find your next checkpoint.
Continue ahead and take a left at the end. Jump down next to enter another cave. You will arrive at your next area, known as the Vasharin Tower.
Climbing The Vasharin Tower
Circle around the white structure to reach a set of stairs and use them to ascend. Once you reach the top, defeat the skeleton in front of you and head inside the room to find your next checkpoint.
Take the path on the left side of the checkpoint and get ready to fight a few more skeletons. You’ll find some stairs at the end, so use them to ascend.
Unlock the door at the top using bronze keys, which you get from looting enemies. Defeat the skeleton inside by luring it out. Then run straight ahead and take a left at the end. Keep following the linear path ahead and stick to your right.
You will eventually arrive at a switch. Interact with this switch to make the contraption move, which takes you even higher inside the tower.Â
Speak with the NPC at the top to find out that it is actually a boss fight. Defeat the boss to obtain the crescent key and additional powerful armor to help you on your journey.
