Repairing the bed and sleeping in it is a crucial mechanic in Angst: A Tale of Survival. The primary materials for most early-game crafting and repairs in Angst are wood. You can obtain them by chopping the trees using the Stone Axe. Make sure you have multiple supplies of Wood in your inventory. Once you have the necessary materials in your inventory, go to the broken bed.

A prompt or an interaction option should appear to initiate the repair. Resting on the bed allows you to replenish your energy level. You will eventually die once the energy bar depletes to zero, making resting in the bed a crucial aspect. Your character may have a low energy level at the end of each run, so ensure you sleep on the bed.

How To Repair a Bed

Repairing the bed is essential to use it to sleep on. Once the game initiates, you find yourself in a cabin. Most of the structures, like the Stove, Upgrade Board, Crafting Table, Safe Storage, and a bed, are broken. You need to use the required materials to repair the bed.

The material you need to repair the wood is 1xWood. As you’re at the beginning of the game, you can find the wood just outside the cabin. You can also obtain the wood by cutting down the trees using the Stone Axe. Once you get your hands on the wood, approach the bed, and interact with it.

This will open two menus on your screen. You can see the wood you collect is in your backpack. You can deliver the 1xWood to repair the broken bed. Drag the wood from your backpack and drop it on the wood icon on the left, and hold Spacebar to repair.  

How To Use a Bed

Once you repair the bed, you can sleep on it to gain energy and pass the time. Your character has three distinct levels on the top left side of the screen. Your energy depletes when you do any work or simply progress in the game. So, you need to sleep on the bed to replenish the energy bar.

Approach the bed and interact with it. You need to set the rest duration and press the LMB on the Sleep button. Sleeping gives you an energy boost per hour. However, the longer you sleep, the more energy you gain. But this will highly influence your Food level.

 The more you sleep, the more hungry you become. I recommend consuming some food, like red berries or mushrooms, to replenish the food bar after sleeping on the bed. However, the game lacks the feature of upgrading the bed. Make sure to sleep on the bed after each run. Most of the time you want to pass the nighttime, and setting the sleep duration up to 4 or 5 hours can be handy.
