Prepping Is Important

Beastro’s gameplay begins in your garden, and preparing ingredients at the start of each day is really important. In order to run your restaurant properly and create different types of dishes, you must first gather ingredients from your garden.
Don’t forget to plant different types of seeds and water your crops to get the vegetables that you need. Additionally, remember to feed the different animals in your garden as well. This allows you to get goods like eggs and milk.
Exploring The Town

While it’s true that the key areas in this game include your restaurant, the garden, and the tea house, you should also interact with the merchants found around the town. You can buy ingredients from these merchants with the money that you make in your restaurant.Â
Additionally, special merchants like Thea offer upgrades for your garden and your restaurant, too. Make sure to give them a visit to increase your efficiency as a cook in the game.Â
Don’t forget to pick up any bugs or leaves on the ground while you’re exploring, as you can use these to feed your animals in the garden.
Growing The Restaurant

Half of the gameplay system of Beastro tests your skills as a chef in a restaurant. You need to focus on your cooking skills just as much as your deck building. The better you get at cooking, the stronger the decks you will be able to craft.
Continue creating different dishes every day and try to level up as early as possible. Gain chef points, which allow you to unlock even more recipes that are especially useful for caretakers.
Dishes For Caretakers

Feeding the caretakers their favorite dishes and ingredients is key to creating a successful adventure later on inside the tea house. Use your recipes to not only charm the caretaker but also supply them with the deck of cards that will help them in battle.Â
In your early game, the caretaker that you come across is Oyshi. He prefers umami flavor, which is green in color. Try to add more of this flavor to his dishes, whilst mixing in a few other flavors too, so that you create a versatile deck for your battles.
Understanding The Battle System

There are six different types of flavors that you can add to your dishes to create the deck of cards that will be carried into battle. Enemies will use cards of different flavors, so you should familiarize yourself with the chart above.
Sour cards enhance umami cards and vice versa, whereas the bitter flavor balances the umami card. Balancing reduces the effectiveness of a card. So, if your enemy uses an umami card, playing a bitter card would reduce both the attack and defense of your enemy.

Enhancing a card allows you to increase the damage output of your deck beyond maximum. Every region in this game has enemies tied to a special flavor. The first area is heavily dependent on enemies that use the umami cards.
Make sure to add the umami flavor in your dishes to deal damage, in addition to the bitter flavor to balance out the enemy’s cards. Add in sour flavor to enhance your umami cards.Â
One last tip about the battle system is that you should try to keep a mix of all flavors in your deck, but focus on area-specific flavors first. This allows you to be ready for random encounters as well.
The Gameplay Loop

Beastro is basically two different game systems in a single package. During the day, you’re a chef trying to run a restaurant. During the night, you play as caretakers who venture out in hostile territory.Â
Both of these systems go hand in hand, and one cannot sustain without the other. If you want to adventure more, then you’ll have to start creating more flavorful dishes. And by adventuring out in the wild, you’ll find new ingredients that can be used in newer recipes.
Don’t simply focus on a single aspect of the game. The cooking might get a little repetitive after a while, but it is what makes the deck-building so fun and engaging in your fights.
This concludes our tips and tricks guide for Beastro, which also explains the key gameplay systems in detail.
