Bloodlines 2 – How To Fix Missing Save File After The Latest Hotfix

It has been a few days since Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was released. However, the game has some technical problems, so the developer recently released a hotfix. While the hotfix has resolved some of the issues, it has created one major problem that has frustrated a large part of the fandom.

Due to the hotfix, many players have lost their in-game progress. Some have lost hours of gameplay and may think there is no fix. However, there is a solution, as the save file has simply been moved to a different folder. I experienced the same issue but managed to fix it. In this guide, I will show you exactly how to restore your missing save file after the latest Bloodlines 2 hotfix.

If you want to learn more about the game and what the fandom thinks of it, head over to its Steam Page.

How To Bring Back Your Progress In Bloodlines 2

Address Bar Bloodlines 2 To Fix Save File Issue

After the recent hotfix, the save file has been relocated to a different folder, so there is no need to panic. Players who have lost hours of progress may be thinking of quitting the game or starting a new one. However, the fix is simple: you just need to move the save file from one folder to another.

I also came across an issue where the game would get stuck and would not boot past the first screen. To fix that, I ran the game as an administrator, and it worked. After the hotfix, my save file was relocated to C:\Users\user\Saved. If that folder does not work for you, it may be inside another folder with a name similar to your PC.

You simply need to copy the contents from the Saved folder and paste them into C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Bloodlines2\Steam\Saved. That is all I had to do to recover my progress in the game. Do note that AppData is a hidden system folder in the C drive. So you will need to manually type the path into the File Explorer address bar to access it.

A big shoutout to the community for figuring this out, especially Calecute on the Steam discussion forums.

If the issue still persists, I recommend visiting SteamDB to find other possible solutions. You can find different methods to fix this problem for Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store. However, since the majority of players are using Steam, the method I explained above should work for most of them.

That is pretty much everything you need to know about how to fix the missing save file issue in Bloodlines 2.
