Getting More Health And Managing It Is Most Important

There are some enemies that hit like a truck, and after a dozen playthroughs, you will remember exactly who they are. So, getting more health and managing it effectively is going to be a no-brainer. After completing several playthroughs of the first areas, we have discovered that health is going to be the most important aspect of your journey.
For now, completing a hitless run or taking very few hits may not be possible in this game. That is because there are some enemies that can attack you for a long time. As your dash has a fairly lengthy cooldown, it can be deadly to face such enemies. So, the wells that allow you to increase your health by 20 percent are going to be incredibly valuable.
Also, there are some wells that allow you to restore 20 health, so make sure not to miss them. Other than that, you will need blessings that increase your health and then upgrade them whenever possible. You can upgrade blessings and runes up to level five, and talismans can be leveled up to three levels, at least in the first couple of areas.
Always Break The Red Vase

There are going to be several red vases throughout the areas, and you should always break them. That is because breaking them can give you a Botyl that allows you to restore health. While you can buy Botyls from the Paladin as well, the cost is going to increase every single time.
So, buying three from him and then collecting more from the vases is a good approach. You should also upgrade your Botyl slots whenever you get the chance. That is because not only will it give you an extra slot, but you will also receive one free Botyl.
RNG Plays A Bigger Role Than You Would Think

In roguelikes, many people forget that for a proper run, you need to get very lucky. That part is not always easy. You can get lucky plenty of times, but the issue is that you may not be aware of which runes you should use or which talismans will work best for your build.
In some of our playthroughs, we obtained a couple of runes that, when applied to a weapon, absolutely obliterated enemies in a single hit. Almost every enemy was being defeated by a single strike of the sword, which is absolutely absurd.
The rune blessing we are talking about is the Embershot Rune. This rune emits a spray of flames toward enemies. In our run, we upgraded it to level five, and it became unstoppable. We managed to defeat The Iron Bastard in just a few hits and even defeated Lucian, Fallen Prelate. That is how powerful this rune can be, so make sure to keep an eye out for it and use it for some serious damage whenever you get the opportunity.
Your Best Build Isn’t Guaranteed To Be Yours

Even if you get the best build imaginable at the start, there is no guarantee that you will be able to keep it forever. Unfortunately, that is mainly because after defeating bosses like Lucian, there is a complete reset. So, no matter what, at some point you will have to give up your loot to the Cursed Eye.
This can be a little frustrating because progressing smoothly requires better items, and obtaining them depends heavily on RNG. The game is currently in Early Access, so there are some clunky mechanics that will hopefully be improved over time.
That said, you can clear a large portion of the game’s areas with the same build. You can unlock shortcuts, explore different paths without worrying too much about normal enemies, and accomplish much more.
Choose Divine Spear As Your Main Weapon

After playing with almost all of the main weapons, we believe it is best to choose the Divine Spear as your primary weapon. Even if a buff says sword damage is increased by 20 percent, do not worry because that bonus applies to all weapons.
The Divine Spear is a very strong weapon to start the game with, mainly because it one-shots archers with its base damage and defeats most other enemies in just two hits. However, enemies that have the purple sign above them are going to be troublesome in almost every situation.
This weapon is also excellent because the Embershot Rune reaches its full potential when paired with it. The spear’s poke attack is exactly what you need. Once you hit an enemy, the flame spray travels in a single direction and remains concentrated in one area, dealing significant damage.
On the other hand, if you perform a slash attack, the flames become more spread out, and the overall damage is not nearly as effective. Because of that, the Divine Spear is a very solid weapon choice.
Voltara Is The Best Ultimate To Unlock Early On

Since you will not fully understand status effects early in the game, it is best to unlock Voltara as your ultimate. That is because it deals massive damage to the primary target and then deals additional damage to other targets within range. When some strong runes are applied to this ultimate, you can see some very impressive damage numbers.
You are free to unlock whichever ultimate you prefer, but Voltara is going to be one of the best options available. It deals both AoE damage and powerful single-target damage. That combination is extremely solid, so give it a try and your journey will become much smoother.
Always Clear The Corruption

Upon clearing the Corruption, you will be able to use the altars to level up your runes. That is a huge advantage because leveling up runes makes them significantly stronger. Other than that, there are also altars that can level up your blessings. So, if your runes work well with your blessings, you can gain plenty of health while also dealing a tremendous amount of damage.
Using this approach, we managed to create a critical-hit build that dealt massive damage. However, luck was definitely involved because of the critical hit bonuses.
Blessing Of Death Is Good Only When Upgraded

You may have noticed the Blessing of Death, which can be obtained early on. However, it may not be worth taking immediately because it only provides a 20 percent attack boost while causing you to take 10 percent more damage. At first glance, that does not seem like a very good trade.
However, you can upgrade this blessing and gain a much larger attack boost. If the extra damage taken decreased with each level, it would be one of the best blessings in the game. Even so, when fully upgraded, it is still a solid option.
Explore All Areas

There are many areas that you can visit, and once you move into a new area, you usually cannot return unless you have defeated every enemy. Because of this, exploring allows you to learn the layout and gain a better understanding of what to do during future playthroughs.
Exploration also allows you to find new NPCs and more sigils that let you unlock additional weapons, skills, and ultimates. You can even discover shortcuts that connect different areas, so exploring is essential in this game. Also note that you have to defeat every enemy in an area if you want to move forward, as you cannot simply run past them.
You Lose All Of The Items Upon Death

One of the biggest mistakes people make in roguelike games is forgetting that they will lose all of their items upon death. Because of that, they often do not bother equipping newly acquired items such as talismans and runes. As soon as you lose a run, you lose everything except your sigils.
So, if you had strong talismans, you do not have them anymore. You will need to find them again and then equip them. The same applies to runes. You will have to find new ones, and once you do, make sure to equip them immediately. You can equip runes on every weapon and ability you have, so make full use of them whenever possible.
That is pretty much it for our Cursemark ultimate tips and tricks guide. Hopefully, these tips help make your journey smoother and your runs more successful.
