Stalkers are unkillable monsters that patrol the dark depths of Stalker Wells. Your first encounter with these beasts may not go well, as they’ll chase you relentlessly as soon as they spot you. On top of that, the narrow passage of the Stalker Well can make it very difficult to outrun them.

But as it turns out, avoiding them isn’t too difficult if you know how. In this guide, we’ll tell you all you need to know about Stalkers and how to avoid them.

What are Stalkers in Dive or Die?

There are a wide variety of monsters you’ll encounter as you dive into the Abyssal Pool each day. While early threats like Killer Algaes, Sanity Leeches, or even the Rain-Touched can be annoying, you can take them out using nothing more than your starting Knife. Stalkers, however, are a whole other story.

These large creatures are only found when you sneak around the depths of Stalker Wells, and unlike the enemies mentioned above, they can’t be killed. You’ll likely encounter them for the first time in the Western Stalker Well, heading southwest through The Shallows. There’s also an Eastern Stalker Well that’s accessed through the Eastern Farmlands, which is much harder to navigate.

On Normal difficulty, there are two Stalkers on the Western Stalker Well and three Stalkers in the Eastern Stalker Well. Since these Stalker Wells contain unique resources such as Lithium and Aluminium and also unique Egg Items required to access structure upgrades, you can’t just avoid these Biomes. On top of that, the Stalker Wells also let you access two late-game zones: the Graveyard and the Crimson Basin.

Fortunately, Stalkers aren’t as difficult to deal with as it seems when you first encounter them.

How to Avoid Stalkers in Dive or Die

Here are three simple ways to deal with Stalkers in Dive or Die – Children of Rain:

Don’t Use the Lantern

If you read the Beastiary entry for Stalkers, you’ll notice that these monsters are attracted to light. So the easiest way to avoid them is to simply not use your Lantern when you’re moving through one of the Stalker Wells. This can make navigating harder, but as long as you stick to one of the sides, you should be able to work your way through the biome easily.

This, however, becomes more difficult once you Bless the Stalker Well. After Blessing the Biome, Beacon Jellyfishes start spawning in both Western and Eastern Stalker Wells. These enemies, once they spot you, will shine a light beam at you to attract nearby Stalkers. Quickly take them out using your Knife or Nailgun before they can use their beam to avoid getting targeted by the Stalkers.

Use the Side Structures for Cover

If a Stalker gets on your tail, there are multiple structures and wreckages on both sides of the Stalker Wells that you can enter to lose them. Not only are these structures great for avoiding Stalkers, but you’ll also find resources and unique items by exploring these wrecks.

Some of these wrecks will also contain Eldritch Blockades that you can break using an Eldritch Knife to find Crystallized Rain once you Bless the Biome.

Use a Flare in an Emergency

If all else fails, and you’re in a tight spot, you can use a Flare to distract a Stalker as you make your escape. Once you find the Flare Blueprint, you can craft it at the Workshop using 2x Carbon, 1x Silicon, and 1x Plastic. Deploying a Flare will light up the area for 1 minute, giving you some much-needed light in darker areas.

The bright light from Flares can keep the Stalker distracted, and you can quickly swim past them with your Lantern turned off.
