Dive or Die is a race against time as you’re trying to scavenge resources and keep your people alive all while the Rainmaker’s flood threatens to wash everything away. Your goal is to find all of the Eldritch Idols before the fated day arrives. As each day ticks down, the day of the flood inches closer.
But there are a few ways to extend the flood countdown and gain one extra day before the end arrives. That’s what we’ll discuss in this article.

What is the Flood Countdown?
As soon as you complete your first Dive and return to the surface, you’ll see a number go down on the screen. This is the Flood Countdown day, and when it reaches zero, your run ends. But to understand it, you need to understand what the game is all about.
Basically, you’re put in charge of a settlement plagued by the Rainmaker’s Flood. You have 30 Days (40 if you’re playing on Normal difficulty) to collect eight Eldritch Idols. On the final day, you have to dive to the bottom of the Abyssal Pool to offer the Eldritch Idols and satisfy the Rainmaker so that the flood doesn’t happen.
When the allotted time is up, the ending cutscene of the run triggers depending on how many idols you’ve collected and offered up to the Rainmaker.
Luckily, there are ways to increase the Flood Countdown, giving you more time to find all the Eldritch Idols before the day arrives.
How to Increase Flood Countdown Days in Dive or Die
There are two ways to increase the Flood Countdown days in Dive or Die:
Worshipping at the Altar
The Altar at your settlement allows you to sacrifice Nutrition, Morale, or even your Survivors to appease the Rainmaker. Each sacrifice adds a percentage to the Worship meter on the left.
Sacrificing Nutrition and Morale adds 25% to the Worship meter, while sacrificing a Survivor adds 15% per Survivor level. Once you upgrade the Altar to Tier 3, you’ll unlock a new way to gain Worship via Devotion.
Once the Worship meter reaches 100%, you’ll add a day to your Flood Countdown. But remember, you can only make one offering each day. So make sure you’re making a sacrifice before you start your next Dive so that the Worship meter keeps filling up.
Making a Sacrifice at the Abyssal Pool Altar
As you dive the depths of the Abyssal Pool, you’ll sometimes come across a strange altar in different biomes. This is a sacrificial altar that’s used to Bless a Biome. To use it, interact with the Altar and then choose the option to Offer Your Life.
This will kill the survivor then and there, but the biome will become Blessed which will allow you to farm Blessed Items from this point onward. It will also add one extra day to the Flood Countdown. There’s only one underwater altar in each biome, so you won’t be able to extend the Flood Countdown days indefinitely with this method.
