Duskfade Collectibles Guide

Duskfade is an action-adventure game set in a 3D world created by Weird Beluga and published by Fireshine Games. This is a nostalgic game that brings back the feeling of playing action-adventure games from the early 2000s, because it combines platforming, action, exploration, and loads of secrets to find.

The main character of this game is Zirian, a boy who accompanies his mechanical Cuckoo on his quest to save his sister from a terrible Clock Tower which brought eternal night into the world. The player explores various clockwork fantasy worlds, which includes forests, underwater locations, deserts and high altitude places, and the plot revolves around master clockmakers, the essence of time and Despair. Collectibles are an essential aspect of the investigation process that takes place within Duskfade. Instead of merely placing random objects throughout the game, various types of collectibles have been implemented to serve different functions. Some of them aid in obtaining trophies, while others enable the players to unlock certain upgrades and customization options, and there are also collectibles included purely for exploring purposes or lore reasons.

Which Collectibles Are Not Important?

If you only care about completing the trophy requirements related to collectibles, then there are some that you do not need to obtain.

Trophy requirements include:

  • Music Boxes
  • N1-C0ins
  • Thieving Kittens
  • Upgrade Gears
  • Clock Heart Pieces
  • Rainbow Ingots
  • Star Core Fragments
  • Broken Stained Glass

Not required for the trophy requirements are:

  • Flasks of Dye
  • Echoes

While those two groups are optional, they are both important if you wish to complete your 100% run. The reason behind this is that Flasks of Dye will allow you to customize your character, while Echoes will give you extra materials in case you want to explore Duskfade more thoroughly.

You Don’t Have to Collect Everything During Your First Visit

Probably, the most crucial thing to keep in mind before starting the process of collecting collectibles in this game is the fact that you don’t have to collect all of them on your first visit to a particular area.

The exploration in Duskfade involves Zirian mastering his movement skills. The game will give you a set of movement skills that includes double-jumping, dashing, grappling, sliding, rail-grinding and gliding, thus enabling you to reach places that seemed inaccessible at the beginning.

So here you will go through an old exploration loop:

  • First, you visit a place.
  • Collect everything that is accessible to you now.
  • Then you proceed further in the storyline.
  • After unlocking the new movement skill, return to those places that you’ve already visited.
  • Reach those places using your new movement skills that you’ve just unlocked.
  • Finally, finish the collection.

A Word on Upgrades

There are some collectibles that not only act as completion counters but also assist with Zirian’s progress.

For instance, Upgrade Gears are particularly significant since they work along with Crystals to upgrade things. This makes them more valuable as collectibles compared to regular collectibles when your goal is upgrading Zirian. Clock Heart Pieces and Star Core Fragments assist with unlocking more health for Zirian and increasing his Temporal Energy respectively. These achievements require full upgrades of the systems. On the other hand, Rainbow Ingots serve for changing the appearance of Zirian’s clockwork sword – Minutero. Zirian uses Minutero in the entire game and can upgrade it and add unique features to it while exploring.
